Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a wonderful overnight stay at the Ostrich. The room was well equipped with plenty of space and a very comfy bed. Food was served in the bar which was very atmospheric due to the history of this wonderful pub/hotel. Our evening meal was delicious all served up by helpful and friendly staff. What more can you want?

Great service and good variety of food in the menu (including tartan options). A lovely burning log fire with nice interior decoration. The food came very quickly, and the sea bass was absolutely delicious. I look forward to go back again for more of that sea bass and dressings.

Beats me how anyone would rather stay in a soulless modern chain hotel, rather than this historic hostelry, if needing a Heathrow Airport overnighter. Ample parking at rear, only a 10 minute drive to the airport, comfortable and quiet room, plus a cosy bar serving good portions of food, albeit with a fake fire to go with the fake grass outside as well. Only other negative was no washbasin in toilet, but considering the age of the property - rumoured to be the third oldest inn in England - happy to forgive on grounds of likely plumbing constraints.

After reading reviews decided to stay here the night before picking our son up from the airport as he was landing at 6am. First impressions were that we had made the right choice. Soon changed when we went to our room ( see photos). Toilet in our room may have as well been outside it was that cold. The bar and restaurant are very nice and inviting. Our meal on the other hand was disappointing apart from the fish in batter which was excellent. My steak was way over seasoned (spoilt an otherwise well cooked steak) and how they can advertise the chips as triple cooked I don't know. They're frozen chips!! On the plus side the staff were okay and the beer was lovely. Not one to write negative reviews often but there are better places to stay around heathrow.

The Ostrich strikes a perfect blend between “historic” and “comfort”. It’s a very old building with many interesting books and crannies. As such, it’s not going to feel like one’s typical 5-star experience. That said, we were very happy with the room and modern shower. We love old, historic structures so this was right up our alley. We loved sitting in the pub, and the dinner and breakfast were really well done! We booked without knowledge of some of the fun ghost stories surrounding the place, and we enjoyed hearing the highlights from the reception staff at check-in. Rest assured, we emerged the following morning unscathed and couldn’t wait to get home and attempt a solid review for a night very well spent 15 minutes away from our Heathrow flight home!

Horrendous Sunday roast. AVOID! Should have noticed when the place was empty. If you are staying here there are plenty of other places close by that serve better food. Service wasn’t great either. The Camembert starter wasn’t too bad. Wouldn’t recommend at all or return.

Visited for lunch with a customer. I checked the menu before going and saw there was a lunch menu and main menu (not listed as evening menu). Both limited but thought combined that there was a reasonable selection. On arrival there was no main menu. Lunch menu was soup, chips (4 ways), salad and 4 types of sandwiches. Ordered sourdough to be told they only had white or brown. BLT was okay but lacking the main ingredient BACON. Two pieces of thin bacon. Was poor. Have to say pub was nice. Good choice of drinks. Staff friendly. Lunch let it down

Booked for 27 people at the same time. 25 people served in reasonable time. 2 meals took an hour to be plated and served. When checking with staff was told 6 meals were added late no. Best double check your orders.
