We recently stayed for 2 nights for the first time at the Hunters Moon Hotel. The hotel and surrounding grounds are beautiful. The hotel has taken every possible precaution to ensure guests feel safe in the current Covid 19 climate. Plenty of hand cleansing stations and social distancing markers. The staggered breakfast and dinner times make the whole process much easier. All staff were wearing masks and continual cleaning of tables etc takes place, with disposable tablecloths being used and tables cleaned down after each usage. We also noted that rooms are fogged for cleaning of the whole room before each guest. The staff made us feel so relaxed and each of them was very welcoming and polite. An excellent hotel to stay in with close proximity to the town.

This lovely family hotel has created a safe environment for their customers to enjoy a holiday in these worrying times. There are now two sitting for the evening meals to avoid crowding and one way systems in place. Your rooms are safe zones which have been treated with an anti virus mist before your arrival, thereafter there is minimal entry . Towels and the drink tray are replenished but that is all. we felt very safe and were well fed as usual. Always good to see the same staff over and over again which is a good sign too.

The hotel had added sanitizers, one way system, social distancing in the lounge and dining room, reduced room access/more cleaning, as required by the new regulations. This did not detract from the usual quiet atmosphere of the hotel. The staff are obviously working much harder to service the changes, and there were a few minor glitches, but nothing major in our 10 days.

My husband and I and our dog have just come back from staying the weekend at the Hunters Moon and we wished we could have stayed longer! We were visiting a relative and we know Sidmouth well and love where the hotel is situated.

The Staff were amazing, all so friendly and nothing was a problem. On arrival staff were wiping down doors handles, banisters and other areas in the hotel, we were always greeted with a lovey smile and social distance was always adhered to but nicely. We arrived on Friday and our room was spotless and the beds really comfortable with hot drinks etc for you to have later.

The hotel is situated about 10 minutes from the seafront but we chose this hotel as it is very quiet and next to The Byes a beautiful park where we could exercise the dog without going to far in the morning before breakfast.

As we were unable to take our dog into the restaurant we asked if we could have breakfast outside on the lawn and the choice was fantastic. We went with our son and his Fiance and we all enjoyed a relaxing time with plenty to do and many lovely walks and eating places were easy to find in Sidmouth to have a meal both inside or out, you can also eat at the hotel as well.

All in all, thank you to all the Staff for a wonderful stress free stay over the weekend. we loved our breakfast in the garden. we will be back, thanks.

Beautiful, comfortable, safe hotel and gardens with friendly, considerate staff. My twin room with terrace and ensuite shower was clean, spacious and quiet with all the required Covid19 considerations. Face coverings were encouraged in all communal area's and hand sanitisers were located near entrances. I would like to compliment the chefs on the superb evening meals, 3 courses of delicious, well prepared, generous portions, local produce and well thought out safety measures. Each evening offered such a good choice of menu, it was difficult to choose. All of my party of 4 were able to relax and enjoy the sunshine, sea, shopping, walking, great food and service, to switch off from the chaotic outside world. Thank you, we will return.

We stayed at Hunters moon for 5 nights. The hotel is lovely but a few things need addressing. Our room was on the ground floor with doors that opened out onto a small communal court yard with tables and chairs. I think it was for 3 or 4 rooms but it really needs individual terraces as you don't want strangers directly outside your room. The room itself was fine and the bathroom was large but we were positioned near a staircase and exit so could hear quite a lot of noise outside plus noise from people walking about upstairs and opening and closing drawers and cupboards. There seemed to be no sound proofing at all.
The breakfast was very good and had no issues apart from there being no one greeting us at the door or any notices saying to wait to be shown to a table. We walked in on our first morning and were shouted at by a couple who were sitting on some couches outside waiting to be called in. We had no way of knowing they were waiting. I apologised and we duly waited by the door however 3 people totally ignored us and barged straight past and went to a table that had just been cleared.
We had one evening meal at the hotel. There is a set 3 course menu every evening with fairly limited options for each course. There is no a la carte menu. We waited for the menu to go on line every day to see if there was anything we wanted to eat. The menu didn't go on line till the afternoon on our last day and we decided that we would have an evening meal so when we returned to the hotel I went to reception to book it for 2 people only to be told the restaurant was full. I wasn't best pleased as we really didn't want to trek back to town again after a day out. At no time were we told to book early in the day or we would miss out. However, the situation was resolved after a few hours and we did indeed get our evening meal. The waiting staff were friendly and polite
The hotel is quiet and the grounds are lovely with super garden furniture to relax in.

We travel to Sidmouth twice a year to visit relatives and have stayed at different hotels depending on the time of year and deals that are on offer. 3 nights is a usual stay. This was our first time at Hunters Moon as, incorrectly, we thought it was too far from the town centre and the promenade. Our stay was perfect from check in to check out. The lounge area is bright and comfortable with a dining room in a converted chapel that has been decorated very tastefully and is distinctively Georgian. Breakfast menu is extensive, well cooked and presented. One evening four of us enjoyed a very tasty evening meal. The wine list has some interesting offerings to suit most tastes. Our room was bright, comfortable and spacious although a little too warm. The grounds and the nearby Byes offer some beautiful walks with the town centre a 15 minute gentle stroll depending on the route taken. The owners are wonderful hosts and all the staff were cheerful and attentive. We were so impressed that we have booked another stay in early October.

We found the tranquil setting of this hotel a pleasant surprise after the bustle of a very busy town. Our beautiful, freshly decorated, ground floor bedroom had a large walk in shower and a balcony overlooking the garden. To our delight the hotel bar allowed us to take our glasses of wine to our room so we could sit on our balcony and enjoy the setting.

Clearly the hotel is undergoing renovations as the corridor walk from reception to our room looked tired but if our room is an example of the renovations ,it is all very promising.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Everything was Covid secure with staff wearing visors and tables clearly marked and separated.

10 minute walk into town and beach and a lovely walk by the river via a private gate in the grounds.

We regularly stay in Sidmouth to visit family and this was our first stay at the Huntermoon. The Georgian House has a lovely entrance lounge and dinning room and is well decorated in keeping with the house. The gardens are lovely, very close to the Byes and only a 10 minutes walk into town which is perfect. Our room was modern, very clean and with almost everything we needed. The only comment would be to have a bottle of water and glasses in the room. The hotel is very dog friendly and the location of our room with access to a patio through french doors was ideal for him. The breakfasts where extremely tasty with a very varied selection of food. We celebrated Christmas early with 1 table for 8 for dinner at the Huntermoon and this was very tasty, well presented and an enjoyable evening. I would recommend a stay at the Huntersmoon, the prices are very competitive and provides everything you need for you stay.

The setting and building are spendid and it was eally good to see how careful they are over disinefction and anti-COVID precautions. A lot better than the other hotels we've stayed in in recent months.

Rooms are a generous size and well appointed. Oddly, they did not supply any glasses or cups for water. Found that odd, but not a problem. Mattress and pillows harder than is usual, but again not an issue for us.

The grounds are quite beautiful . The clientele is rather elderly, so dinner sittings are fairly early (6pm and 7.15).

The breakfasts were simply wonderful and the one evening meal we had there was first class too...agaon a LOT better than hotel food we'd eaten at a pricey hotel a couple of weeks ago.

The staff were also really really good.

Yes, there are minor niggles you'd expect with very old buildings... sticky doors etc...but on the whole, excellent and we are very likely to go back.
