I cannot recommend the Barn and Pinn enough. Its location means anywhere along the beautiful east Devon coastline is easily accessible by car. The cottage itself is absolutely spotless and the social distancing protocols Kim and Peter have put in place make guests feel safe. I woke up each morning looking forward to the breakfast which sets you up for the rest of the day and the hosts are so accommodating and friendly. Would 100% stay again. Phil.

We had a 2 night stay at The Barn and Pinn Cottage. My wife and I stayed, with our small dog in room 8, the accommodation was spotless, the bed very comfy, plenty of storage and the shower nice and powerful. Parking is very orderly with each room having its own allocated space. Breakfast was served in the main house which again was spotlessly clean, the breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked by Peter who added an extra sausage to take back to our dog.
Kim and Peter are excellent hosts and, as this was the first weekend after lockdown, handled the new covid-19 world of social distancing etc. very well. They are, and rightly so, very proud of the Barn and Pinn cottage which they have completely renovated, within the constraints of it's listed status, to a very high standard.
The Bowd public house across the road serves lovely food for an evening meal.
We would definately recommend staying there and hope to visit again soon.

The excellent reviews of this lovely B&B were spot on! Our room and the breakfast area were spotless and we felt very safe and reassured that all Covid measures were being tightly followed. I’d spoken to Kim about a quiet room before booking and the recommended room 9 was perfect, with its own patio and a huge bathroom. Kim and Pete and all staff were really friendly and helpful, and the breakfast selection was great and portions generous. It was a shame that dinners weren’t available as we’re sure they would have been excellent too. The Bowd Inn is very close and fine for a drink, the food is somewhat “average”...
We can thoroughly recommend this lovely B&B and will definitely stay again if in the area.

We don't often return to the same place but after a magic week last September, we made an exception. And we were not disappointed. This time we booked one of the larger rooms with access to garden, it was nice to come back after a day's exploring and chill outside. Peter , Kim and Sarah are all great, very efficient, professional and accomodating. Peter's breakfasts set us up for the day ahead. Own parking space and not the usual cramped spot that you often get. Great base to explore East Devon and West Dorset. Bus stop a few minutes walk away , with regilar services until late evening . Plenty of space in the breakfast room, hand sanitisers, masks, thus felt safe as possible from the dreaded Covid. Still plenty to see in the area, so hopefully back again next year.

This was our first break since lockdown, and we were a little anxious. But we needn't have been.
First impression was of a busness that was well looked after. Kim and Peter were most welcoming, as they went through the various rules of the house. Most were common sense, and all were designed to keep everyone safe.
Our room, room 3, was bijou, but we had been told this when booking. Access is via a spiral staircase with a low beam at the top, so if you are tall or of limited mobility, speak to Kim first to ascertain best room for your needs. The room was clean and had a good view of the garden, with the main road at the bottom. Road noise was however minimal, even with windows open.
Breakfast was in a socially distanced room, and was excellent. Porridge and Full english set us up for the day.
Each room has an allocated car park bay.
There is a Pub / restaurant across the road but in fairness we did not visit as we had heard mixed reviews. Sidmouth itself is a 5 minute drive away, and there is a bus stop nearby for those using public transport. The bus service is every hour. Would not recommend walking down to Sidmouth, as the road has no pavement, and is quite narrow in places,
I would recommend booking evening meals in the area in advance ( look out for reviews of places we ate in) as certainly all of the good places book up quickly even in autumn. One place we rang said they could not get us in for 4 weeks .....( this was an exception).
So would we go back again? Definatly. The current madness with Covid is the only thing that stopped us booking whilst we were there!

My husband and I stayed last year and have returned again this year we have a 2 night stay at this amazing cottage! Kim and Pete are very welcoming and their B&B is spotless. The breakfast always sets us up for the day as there is so much choice. This was our first break since lockdown and I have to say they handled the situation really well with hand sanitizer on the door and plenty of space between guests tables at breakfast, and wipeable menus. We always feel really relaxed after our stay here. Looking forward to another stay very soon.

Returning to the Barn & Pinn felt like we had never been away. It’s our ‘go to place’ and over the years we still can’t fault it.
We stay in room 8 which is in one of the out buildings and we love it there. It’s spotlessly clean and very comfy bed’ lovely shower.
The room is equipped with all you need including TV, hair dryer and the very welcoming tea, coffee and biscuits after a long journey.
Kim and Peter leave no stone unturned in running this beautiful Thatched Cottage. Kim has such an eye for detail there is no stone unturned when prepping your room.
Nothing is too much trouble if you need anything. I asked for an iron - she set the board up with the iron in a designated area. Very useful.
Peter is an amazing Chef the breakfasts are delicious. If you want smoked haddock with amazing Pisces eggs you won’t be disappointed. You order it the day before.
Underneath this ‘go to place!’ Is an extremly loved and cared for building by two people working incredibly hard for their visitors.
Behind the scenes they run the business efficiently and should be very proud of all they do for us. The gardens are maintained and a pleasure to look out in at breakfast time! Can’t wait to to visit again!

The Barn and Pinn Cottage at Bowd is " exactly what you see on the packet".
The premises are of a supremely high standard and mirror the quest for
perfection sought and achieved by the indomitable Peter and Kim , a most
harmonious and effective husband and wife pairing. My friend, Ann and I
thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay which was highlighted by the quality
of all of the facilities and not least by the reasonableness of the bill.
We highly recommend this holiday accommodation in all respects; you will
not be disappointed.

We have stayed with Peter and Kim Clinch at the Barn and Pinn in Bowd a few times now usually in Room 7. This is self contained so you can cook for yourself but we generally eat out. The small and large breakfast's at the Barn and Pinn are such great value for money. The accommodation is spotless (until we mess that up) the whole area is kept immaculately tidy and the thatched Barn is a marvel to be seen inside and out.

Usually we do not see hedgehogs, but there was a sighting recently of a rather handsome one sporting a very yellow bow ! We have now befriended him and he has become a member of the family :)
