Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A traditional farmhouse B&B where the experience exceeds all expectations. With her many years of hosting guests Betty’s knowledge of what they need is second to none. Comfortable rooms, excellent welcome tray with more than just the essentials, best ever breakfasts with as much or as little as you want. Quiet location but still within easy reach of Sidmouth and local pubs. Good parking, good value. Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing experience! Betty is so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Catered to our every need. The rooms are lovely, clean and tidy. The views are out of this world from the room we stayed in. I could not pick a single fault with the stay we had here. We will definitely be returning for another visit.

Stayed for 4 nights and it was wonderful. Betty is the perfect host, made us feel welcome from the start. Nothing is to much for her. The breakfasts are magnificent,we didn’t need to eat again until the evening. Our room was big, overlooking the garden, and bed very comfy. Bathroom also big with over bath shower. Betty was always interested in what we had been doing. I would recommend Pinn Barton farm to anyone who wants a quiet peaceful holiday. Thank you Betty.

We stayed for 3 nights last week & had a great stay. Betty is a great hostess & made us feel really welcome. We had a large room & Betty gave us a choice when we got there of a room with a shower over bath or a walk in shower , we chose the shower over bath , it was a big bathroom , the water pressure in the shower wasn't great but it was ok & perhaps if we had chosen the other room the power would have been better, but this is not Betty's fault . We had one small problem which Betty sorted out straight away & when I asked if I could have earl grey teabags in the room she left a whole box which I thought was very good of her . There was fresh milk & water in the fridge evey day The breakfast was fantastic , so much choice of cereal , fruit & yoghurt & then a huge cooked breakfast , there was a toaster & a choice of white & brown bread on each table so that you could make your toast as & when you wanted , what a simple but great idea . I have earl grey tea & my husband has " normal " tea & we got a pot of each & a pot of hot water on the table . We ate at the Kings arms in Otterton as reccomended by Betty on the first night & it was so good that we ate there for the rest of the stay. We would definitely stay with Betty again if we were in the area

We stayed at Penn Barton Farm for the Pony Club Mini Championships held at Bicton August 21. Betty allowed us access to the Paddock to coral ponies and camp for the night. Family stayed in the rooms during the competition and found them clean, well stocked with everything required for a short stay. Betty the hostess took much enjoyment from our trip, with the children having fun camping with the ponies in her paddock had having lots of fun. We can't thank her enough for being so accommodating during our stay. Thank you from Mendip Farmers Pony Club.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, carried over from 2020. Betty was THE best hostess, so welcoming. Excellent breakfasts and comfortable room with FRESH milk daily, a real bonus. Fellow guests were very friendly too and everything was safe - which was very reassuring.

We three friends stayed at Pinn Barton for two nights for a dressage competition at Bicton;it was a farmhouse with immaculately clean, comfortable rooms, set up with a fridge and good drinks making facilities, but what was really memorable was how hospitable and welcoming Betty was. The breakfasts were cooked exactly to our orders and it felt like we could have had anything we wanted. Staying there was such a good decision, all of us thought independently that we'd like to visit again and explore the area.

We stayed here as I was competing at Bicton Arena. The farm was perfectly appointed to go to and fro. The rooms were comfortable, clean and lovely and warm and the breakfast was brilliant. Lovely home cooked food and lots of it! Betty was a warm and friendly host and went out of her way to make our stay perfect including cooking us breakfast at 6.30am! I would definitely return for another visit. Can highly recommend.

Firstly , this is a farmhouse home, so don't expect hotel luxury. Having said that, what you do get is something you won't get in hotels! We stayed for 6 nights in August with family and had a large family room and a twin. We were met at the door by Betty who immediately made us very welcome. There was a small fridge in each bedroom and fresh milk was supplied daily. Also a bottle opener! The bathroom was well equipped with soap/gels/shampoo etc., so you don't take you own. The icing on the cake was the breakfasts. You had your own toaster plus white and brown bread on the table, to make toast when you wanted it. I counted 11 different cereals plus fresh grapefruit, prunes, apples, plus a selection of yoghurts in a fridge. Traditionally, a full farmhouse fry up was available and the fried eggs were the most perfectly cooked eggs ever! (well done Gordon). Likewise the quality of the bacon, sausage etc., was the best. There is a comfortable guest only lounge with tv and various board games and toys. As we had a 4 year old, this was very useful in the evenings. So overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and can thoroughly recommend Pinn Barton Farm!
