Lovely Suite overlooking the Sea front with all facilities recently upgraded. God food with traditional tea and cakes every afternoon which add a special touch to the atmosphere. Parking is managed very efficiently by the Staff and was never a problem. l

I spent another three nights last week at the hotel in room 117. This is a spacious single ensuite room with a balcony and sea views, tea and coffee supplied everyday and wifi. The Royal York is a relaxing friendly family run hotel. You will not see people at dinner with iPads and phones but you will have a delicious...

Myself and my mum had a rare opportunity to have a mini break. We booked into the Royal York &Faulkner, and I'm so glad we did. On arrival we found that we had been upgraded to a beautiful room overlooking the sea. It really did make our stay so wonderfully special. We found the hotel itself very warm and cozy,...

The downstairs bar area looks like it has been recently updated but the bedrooms have not. The bed itself was hard and uncomfortable, the carpet and furniture straight out of the 70s, chunky old fashioned bed spread (stained) on top of thin old duvet. I can't understand the reviews that gave a good score which I referred to before booking,...

As always brilliant hospitality and service. Unfortunately the only downside to our break was not the fault of the hotel; it was a very rude bombastic couple( I case you are not sure - room118) who decided to commandeer our table even though it was clearly numbered. After some fuss( solely by this ignorant couple) the staff in a very...

stayed here for a couple of nights with some family members and found the hotel staff very welcoming. our rooms were clean and well maintained - all rooms were sea facing. Breakfast and dinner were extremely good. Out of school holiday there are more elderly guests. they have three very nice lounges and complimentary afternoon teas. There is also entertainment...

This is an old hotel - but lacks for nothing in its commitment to customer satisfaction. We have stayed more than once. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, the staff are friendly and well informed, the food comes from a varied menus and is of top quality.

If you like old-fashioned hotels, this is the one to visit. But there's nothing old-fashioned about the comfort, the food, and the service: full marks in all three. The bedrooms vary in size, ours was not big but sufficient for a 3-night stay and you can choose bigger; we were right on the sea front and there was a balcony...

We have stayed at the RYF on many occasions and enjoyed it every time. We always stay in Room 17, a large second floor room with a double and single bed. The only down side is the creaking floor, hardly surprising in a hotel of that age. Having seen our friends' bathroom, Room 17's could do with an update, but...
