Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Another visit to the wonderful, delightful Kensington Guest House. Debbie and Jason cannot do enough for their guests and their knowledge of Scarborough is immense. The welcoming cupcakes and tea/coffee on arrival add a lovely little touch. The breakfasts are like no other and to be honest, we wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else. Carry on doing what you are doing Debbie and Jason. You will be seeing us again soon!

We had a lovely warm welcome from Debbie and Jason. The rooms were comfortable and having home made cakes on arrival together with fresh milk in the room fridge was a lovely touch. There was a comprehensive information pack with everything you need to know about Scarborough and the area in the room too. The breakfasts were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

First time stopping at The Kensington and wasn’t disappointed at all, Debbie and Jason are great hosts, nothing isn’t too much for these guys, the minute you walk through the door you are welcomed with a cuppa and cake. Breakfast is out of this world. Jason you are an amazing chef and accommodate to any taste and likes (even my own weird tastes lol) can’t wait to return next year, see you both soon xx

How can I say perfect without saying perfect, I can't, our holiday was PERFECT, from start to finish. My wife & I hadn't had a proper holiday for over 7 years so were a little nervous about booking a Bed & Breakfast, my wife Lorraine scoured t'internet for a few weeks for hotels in Scarborough until she came across The Kensington Hotel owned by Debbie & Jason, Lorraine always reads the reviews, myself, I like to get my own opinion, but reading the reviews this sounded like perfection & right up our street. So we booked 6 months in advance, as the days drew near nerves & intrepidation started to kick in, until finally, the day arrived to go.Train strikes didn't stop us from going, we were determined to check out this perfectly reviewed hotel & when we finally got there, we were greeted by Debbie, what an absolute gem, cheerful, smiling from the start, took us in & gave us a brew & cupcake, what a way to cure our nerves, within minutes, we felt so comfortable, chatting away as if we'd known each other for years. Debbie summoned Jason to take our luggage up to the room, he's such a lovely guy, both of them would & did do anything to keep all their guests happy. We fitted in so well, first morning at breakfast, everyone there was so friendly and chatty, it was a fun & friendly atmosphere. I love my food, Debbie & Jason said they are feeders, making sure there is plenty to eat which actually saves you money as you probably don't need to eat until the next breakfast. Lorraine is only a small eater but I thought, as I am generally a good eater, I'll go for the full English, cleaned the plate as I usually do, which I did everyday until I tried the Eggs Benedict, WOW, beautiful flavours but too much for me, I was beaten, so I went for the omelette with a salad side for the remainder of our stay, each day, more food, no salad this time, was added to my plate alongside the omelette, a little extra each day, but I managed to clean the plate, a 5 cheese omelette with bacon, mushrooms, black pudding, cumberland sausage, beans, tomatoes & toast, what a feast. Debbie & Jason do like to make sure you don't go hungry. Then there are the rooms, everyone as beautiful as the next, each one had a lovely personal touch, if you're a tea connoisseur, then this is the place to be, besides the usual breakfast tea, there are many varieties & Debbie is always on the lookout for different variations, she showed us a halloween set of teas she had just bought, strange names including a 'brains' flavoured one, not real brains, well at least I hope not. During breakfast, Debbie always checked on how your previous day went & what are your plans for that day, always interested in how everyone was doing, there was always a bit of banter at breakfast, laughing & joking, certainly starts the day with a smile, both Debbie & Jason are great hosts, so helpful but with added fun, well someone got an extra sausage one morning, everyone in the dining room were laughing, as you do when you get to our age, innuendoes & all that. I could go on forever, praising both Debbie & Jason, the hotel, the food & everything else but I guess you should get the idea by now that The Kensington is THE PLACE TO BE if you find you want a couple of days, weeks, etc in Scarborough. Yes, we have already booked for next year, possibly twice when I find out the dates for the 'Trekkie' convention. Can't wait to go back, only just got home today. To Debbie & Jason, you are simply the best & we can't wait to come back. Ray & Lorraine xxx

We can not give enough compliments about the Kensington. The place is spotless and homely. The hosts Debbie and Jason can’t do enough for you and looked after us from the start of our stay to us leaving for home. Their infectious smiles and humour was shared by all the fellow guests. All together a superb weekend. If we could give more than 5 stars we would. Our new favourite place to stay. We will definitely be back. Claire & Steve

Without a doubt Debbie and Jason were the icing on the cake, of which there were plenty, to our Scarborough 4 nights. Breakfast quality and choice second to none, I'd even say you could feel through the food Jason's passion for cooking. Debbie was so friendly, knowledgeable on things to do, unbelievably enthusiastic. If you are considering a guest house, do not go anywhere else but The Kensington.

This was our 4th visit. Debbie, the hostest with the mostest and Jason the man slave who does the best breakfasts that me a semi vegetarian could ask for. They both go above and beyond to meet our needs. On arrival, we get a lovely cuppa and either a piece of cake or a muffin. The rooms are amazing with everything you need from an array of teas and coffee with fresh milk and bottled water. Nothing is too much for this lovely pair. It feels like we are part of their family when we stay, which makes it the most pleasurable stay. I would say it's home from home.

We loved our stay here. When we arrived, we got a nice cup of tea and some home baked muffins. When we got to our room there were also cakes in the room. It was just the little touches that made our stay personal, such as the cakes to the bottled water in the fridge in the room. Also it was my birthday whilst there and was a card and box of chocolates on the table. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we will most definitely be back for another stay.
