The Sands apartments are in a great location being only yards from the beach on the north side of Scarborough. From the moment we arrived at the secure car park until we checked out the Sands delivered a 5 star experience. We stayed in a spacious one bedroom apartment that was fully equipped with modern facilities and utensils. It was spotlessly clean and you were made welcome with a few simple extras like milk, bread etc on arrival. My only improvement point would be the strength of the wireless broadband which struggled on occasion whilst using multiple devices and streaming. Overall a fantastic few days in these apartments which we are happy to recommend 😎

Due to a change in our holiday plans we decided to book a stay at these apartments based on good reviews. Our booking was made over the telephone and a courtesy call was made by reception the day before our arrival.
We were able to leave the car in the car park from 12 noon and checked in around 3pm.We were unable to have a sea view but had emailed and requested a high floor if possible. We received a reply and were sent photos of the apartment we had been allocated which was on the 4th floor and had a view from one end of the balcony of the sea, beach huts and promenade.
On entering our apartment we were very pleased with the standard of cleanliness, the furnishings were of a good quality and the rooms were spacious,we did feel that the main bedroom furniture left little room to manoeuvre when getting out of bed from the far side but did not affect us greatly.
The balcony was a good size, the furniture and decking were looking in need of an update, the woodstain was quite weather worn!
The kitchen was equipped with everything and more that we needed,it was a little strange to receive jam and marmalade in the welcome pack but no bread to spread on to.The milk in the fridge had been decanted into a small bottle and unfortunately was on the turn,I would have preferred a sealed dated bottle but we had some of our own so did not cause a problem.
We did not hear any noise from other guests, the soundproofing must be efficient but due to us leaving the bedroom window open at night we heard (possibly a security guard)someone talking for a few seconds outside several times during our stay.
It was a shame that due to the pandemic we were unable to hire games, books etc but we understood the reason why.
The shops and restaurants attached to the complex were quite satisfactory although we were unable to use the salt water cafe for breakfast one morning as they had run out of food due to the government "eat out to help out" offer which was a shame as we preferred the food there.
Our only big complaint was the WiFi which was dreadful, time for an upgrade please!!
We obviously didn't see many members of staff again due to covid restrictions, but those we encountered were pleasant and friendly.
We would quite happily stay here again and would recommend friends and family to visit, the few niggles that were mentioned wouldn't be enough to keep us away
Well done and thank you to everyone for making our holiday an enjoyable one

Excellent accommodation which was only 2 minutes from the beach, peasholme Park and other north bay attractions. The flat was well appointed with lots of sanitizer available, however was disappointed that we could not access the accommodation until 4:00pm, I am aware that in the current Covid situation a deep clean is required however extra staff should be employed to undertake this. You are paying for a full days accommodation while only accessing it for half a day both on arrival and departure.

This was our second stay at The Sands and in a different apartment. This time we stayed in a two bed deluxe sea view apartment with a spa bath as a bit of luxury for this Covid19 year. And we had a lovely time.
The apartment was really clean and well appointed with a small balcony on the first floor looking over the North Bay - great views on the sunny calm days and the windy wet and stormy days. Despite having ground floor rooms, we still felt safe and secure and the double offer of blinds and curtains made sure that we were not overlooked.
We were given a tiny car parking space in the secure car park which was the biggest downside of the trip - there was not enough room for both car doors to open once parked and this made it feel like a bad point, rather than a great aspect of staying here.
We also noticed that the windows were not clean on the outside on arrival, but since the windowcleaners came whilst we were there and within 48 hours the sea spray and salt had wreaked havoc once more, we realised that this was a fact of a sea view!
Our one suggestion for improvement would be coat hooks near to the front door. When we came in dripping wet from walks along the front in the horizontal rain, there was nowhere to hang soaking coats other than door handles.
Lovely stay and we will be back again.

Rented 2 two bed apartments to accommodate 7 family members. Both were perfectly located with great sea views and balconies.
The kitchens were fitted out with every possible good quality utensil and the ovens were efficient and very clean. The apartments were spacious and well laid out. No complaints about anything. Only niggle was that there should be a mirror located near a socket in the master bedroom to allow guests to use the hairdryer.
Check in was very smooth and reception staff were lovely. Check out was contactless and involved just depositing the keys in a secure box.
The apartments are denitely 5 star. They are expensive compared to other holiday accomodation in Scarborough but defnitely worth it.

My husband and I took our 2 grandchildren (5 years and 6 years) to stay for 2 nights in Scarborough at the Sands apartments. We had a 2 bedroomed apartment which had an ensuite to the master king bedroom and a main bathroom alongside the twin room. There is dedicated parking for 1 car which is in a secure building. Receptionists were well presented, polite and helpful. The apartment was clean and tidy and had everything in you could want including dishwasher, iron and ironing board, tv and DVD player, big selection of DVDs as well as net flicks. There was also a washer dryer but un fortunately the drier wasn't up to much and you could only put it on for 12 mins at a time.
Toiletries were provided as well as a small section of tea, coffee, sugar, preserves, biscuits, butter and milk. It was in a lovely location and we had a big balcony overlooking the beach - it was just perfect. We got the open top bus to the south beach and ate out there as well as within the complex. The weather was kind to us and all in all we had a lovely time. It is quite expensive at over £550 for 2 nights but taking that into consideration I would love to return.

Stayed in these wonderful apartments lots of times. Another perfect stay. Greeted by lovely staff on arrival with a trolley and escorted to apartment with offer of help with luggage. Apartment perfect as always. Well equipped and very comfortable. Enough dishwasher tablets for the whole stay would be useful and not an expensive addition. But a minor point. Another lovely holiday.

We have just returned home from a stay at these apartments. Everything was excellent about the apartment at Lockton 4, with a beautiful double balcony overlooking the sea. The cleanliness was second to none. However, the only thing wrong with this place is that if you are in 5 Star Apartments you need 5 Star eating establishments within walking distance. My husband had a mobility scooter so we could not get very far and the only 2 cafes near the apartments were Taylors and Saltwater, Taylors being the better of the two. I would advise anyone not to venture into Saltwater. We went in there on a Sunday night, it had been raining all day. The young unattentive staff there told us they had a reduced menu as everyone had been in out of the rain and they had run out of food. Someone brought us a menu and forgot to tell us that we had to go downstairs to the bar to order it. After half an hour of waiting someone came up and said we had to order downstairs. I had to go back downstairs to order. The place itself was very grubby and the handrail going down was sticky. The staff didn't look too clean either. All the condiments and knives and forks could have done with a good clean too. Whilst there we heard some people asking to have a room service breakfast order on the Monday morning to The Sands Apartments to which the staff replied that they were closed Monday and Tuesday, The Sands advertising room service from this cafe 7 days per week. I do think that 5 Star apartments like The Sands shouldn't be associating themselves with a cafe bar of this poor quality. We did notice that Saltwater were closed on Monday but did actually open on Tuesday. We were sat on the seafront and could hear heavy metal music coming out of Saltwater, needless to say a lot of older people left there and went into Taylors.

Had a lovely 3 night stay. Booked last minute, so only a non sea view apartment available, however, this turned out to be a good choice. Although it did partially overlook the carpark, it had the sun on it for the afternoon and early evening, lovely to sit out with a drink, it was also nice and quiet (some trolley noise in a morning, but this was not before 8am) Car park nice and secure. Check in was great, we arrived a little early and we were able to check in at 3.30pm, really pleasant helpful staff, luggage trolleys available and everything very clean with lots of infection control measures in place. The 2 bedroomed apartment was very clean, new carpets, quality furnishings and both bathrooms were modern, with plentiful towels and toiletries. Kitchen was well equipped, plentiful cookware and plates etc, washer, dishwasher, fridge freezer, toaster, oven and hob, although the hob did take quite some time to heat up. Didn't eat at the restaurants below the apartments, but tried the Hideout, which is a 10 min walk past the park, it was really good. (and also the chippy just before it)
The only improvement I could suggest, would be availability of additional plug sockets or (as this is probably impractical) perhaps some sockets with built in USB ports for charging.
Will look forward to another stay soon!

No air conditioning, but fans are provided in some rooms. Worth checking with reception when booking a room. Always ask which room it will be and then ask if there any fans. Enjoy your stay if you go.
