Detailed Reviews
Stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast, 19/20 May. Karen and Steve are excellent hosts and make you feel very welcome from the moment you arrive. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are very helpful in recommending places to eat and places to visit and walks around the area. The hotel is situated in a quiet location at the far end of the North bay and only a five minute walk down to the sea.
Our room at the front of the hotel was spacious, spotlessly clean with a large en-suite shower/bath. Lovely fluffy towels and although no toiletries were provided in the room because of COVID these could have been supplied upon request.
The breakfast was well organised and excellent with locally sourced bacon and sausage and all cooked to order.
We ate out the first night as the hotel only offers a light menu of sandwiches or burgers in the evening between 6 and 7. We decided to try the burgers, served with fries and salad, on our second night and they were very good.
The bar is a pleasant and comfortable room to end your evening with a drink and a chat with Karen and Steve and fellow guests.
We’re so pleased we found this hotel (through booking.com) but I would recommend booking direct with Steve.
We can highly recommend The Headlands and we will definitely be back.😊

We have just returned back to Manchester from a 3 night break at The Headlands, from the moment we arrived we felt so welcomed by Steve and Karen, the hotel is in a fantastic spot and so homely. Our room (17) was brilliant it had just been renovated and had a huge bathroom with walk in shower, we were overlooking the open air theatre and although you can't see anything because of the trees etc, we got to listen to Kaiser Chiefs playing which was so good.
The hotel was very quiet at night which is ideal for us as we took our 2 year old daughter with us, we're so sorry to any other guests who she may have disturbed early in the morning!
Breakfast was absolutely fantastic we just couldn't fault it at all and special thanks to Angela who really put a smile on our daughters face at breakfast, you have made a friend for life haha. We will one million per cent be coming back and spending longer next time to carry on exploring wonderful Scarborough and the surrounding areas. Thanks once again for a lovely stay, Emma Paul and Ada

Booked for a concert at the theatre. It's perfectly situated with a short walk to both the theatre and the beach. The hosts were very friendly, lots of tips and local Info to help the stay and our bags were carried up to the room on arrival. The cleanliness of the room was faultless and we commented to each other all through the stay about the standard of cleaning especially in the bar area which has lots of quirky ornaments and decorations which could very easily become a dust fest but nothing!! The breakfasts were fantastic, mixture of continental to top up a full English or alternatives...the most un-greasy breakfast I think I've ever eaten, beautifully presented and table presentation! Even though this place is a 4hr drive away we are already discussing returning with partners and also I plan to return with my children as the beach is huge, clean and lots of amenities by it!

Yes I've had time to think about our stay and I'm still short of sufficient superlatives!
The hotel is situated in the North Bay area of Scarborough in a quiet area, overlooking a green with the castle in the distance. Limited parking is available at the hotel with plenty of free on street parking around the hotel.
It is located superbly for those visiting the open air theatre, which was the purpose of our stay.
The room we stayed in was exceptionally clean, as was the whole hotel, which is benefitting for an upgrade to rooms. WiFi is available throughout the hotel, but I would recommend USB charging is made available in the rooms as they are refurbished.
Tables for breakfast are pre-allocated so there is no wondering around looking for a vacant table. The breakfast were excellent as were the available bar snacks.
Steve & Karen are relatively new owners and run the hotel as a family business. This gives them the incentive to ensure their guests have an untroubled time. Indeed they always demonstrated that they were willing to go the extra mile to assist guests wherever they could. I also believe that they have a vision for their hotel and as a result I think that the "guest experience" will get even better!😀
Can't wait to return!

I stayed at the Headland hotel recently, as I was attending an event in Scarborough. On arrival parking was very easy, the welcome once through the front door was 5 star, a proper top end city centre, hotel welcome, with all facilities explained. All of our question about how to get to the venue were explained with the use of a map we could have taken away. Once registered we were walked to the room with an offer to carry any luggage.
The room was a dual aspect room and spotlessly clean (like the rest of the Headlands), a small TV, tea and coffee making facilities USB charging point and a good size desk/dressing table.
The bar at the headland was a pleasant surprise, a good size seating area and small well stocked bar with a large TV (the football was on) a small food menu was available for bar snacks.
Breakfast was “slick”, cereals, fresh fruit, fruit juice and chilled water all available along with a Yorkshire breakfast for meat eaters and vegis alike. If your visiting Scarborough I would recommend the Headlands for all of the above reasons and the friendliness and professionalism of the owners, that make this place a hotel to be considered, 100%.

There are lots of things we can say about this hotel. All positve. On arrival, we were greeted by Steve,( the owner, along with his wife Karen) We were able to check in early as our room was ready. First impression of hotel was fabulous, it is very clean, lovely decoration throughout. We were shown to our room (room 17)and it was totally amazing, tastefully furnished and decorated with a lovely view over the castle and partial north sea. Breakfast was very nice, hubby had full English every day. I wanted boiled eggs which wasn't on the menu, but Steve cooked them for me to perfection. We ate at the hotel a couple of nights, which is good value for money. Nothing was too much trouble for Steven and Karen, they went above and beyond what anyone can expect from a holiday. Will we visit this hotel again? Without a shadow of doubt, infact we rebooked before we left. Plenty of free parking around the area too. Thank you to Steve and Karen for having us and we look forward to our next visit.

We stayed in a suite for three nights during August 2020. Good location short walk to North Bay, Arena, Peasholm park. There is a small car park available and plenty of on street parking. The room was very nice and consisted of bedroom, separate lounge area, and bathroom with shower. All rooms were very tastefully decorated, lounge contained sofa, tv, fridge, storage, and tea / coffee facilities. Bedroom consisted of double bed, plenty of storage, tv. Rooms were not cleaned / entered during our stay due to COVID guidelines.
Breakfast sitting time (two options) was chosen the day before. Good quality breakfast (cereals/full English/toast/juices etc). Steve was very good and friendly host. We would definitely stay here again.

A warm welcome, spotless public areas and bedrooms and first class breakfasts all added up to a perfect small hotel. Positioned above North Bay and its amenities, the Headlands Hotel is in an ideal spot, quiet and peaceful but close enough to the aforementioned amenities to mean all tastes are fully catered for.and if there are friendlier hosts than Steve and Karen, we've never met them.

My daughter and I had an overnight stay at The Headlands Hotel. Steve and Karen greeted us on arrival with a friendly welcome. Steve gave us good advice on finding a nearby restaurant where we got an excellent meal at reasonable price. The Headlands was very clean and comfortable. Our ensuite twin room was tastefully decorated and furnished. Situated just off the seafront, it was quiet, with plenty of easy parking. We enjoyed a drink in the bar before retiring and woke to a really good, freshly cooked breakfast. The home-made fruit salad starter was much appreciated. Warmly recommended to family and friends. We shall be back!

We got back yesterday (27/8/2020) after a 2 night stay at this lovely hotel. On arrival at the hotel we was greeted by one of the owners Steve. Lovely friendly man. We stayed in the newly revamped room 11. Great sized room with a separate sitting area (and 2 TVs) Sofa turns into a bed (if required). Room was spotless and the pillows on the bed were so comfy. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful & done in 2 sittings (due to social distancing regulations) Angela was extremely polite and cheerful.
As new owners of this hotel Steve & Karen have had a lot to contend with since Covid-19 but they are doing a fantastic job. Thank you for the tea & biscuits yesterday afternoon. Will definitely stop here again next time we visit Scarborough.
