Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was in room 41, which was an upgrade, our original room was having work done. The facilities were excellent, the 3 course dinner was superb, a good menu to choose from. The breakfast was 1st class, great menu, wine a little expensive, the staff were very attentive, helpful, and efficient. This visit made even better by good weather. Bed and shower was also superb. Well done Wrea head hall.

Hotel's Favourite
The hotel exceeded our expectations. Location, grounds, accommodation, meals, hospitality, staff, value for money. - all exceptional. Couldn’t recommend the Wrea Head more highly. We enjoyed a fabulous short break at the hotel, celebrating a birthday with two other couples. A well run, well managed hotel. The staff were all without exception, exceptional in terms of friendliness, service, care and consideration of guests. Obviously, well trained. The hotel deserves to succeed in these changing and challenging times.

Stayed 2 nights bed, breakfast and evening meal. Everything excellent from moment we arrived to departure. Friendly and welcoming staff and first class service from all the team. Thank you Tracie, you have a first class workforce. Food can only be described as exceptional, 5 star at every meal. Room 12 we stayed in really comfortable and a great night’s sleep! Cannot praise this gem of a hotel highly enough, absolutely brilliant, we will be back!!

This was the first time we had been to Wrea Head Hall after being highly recommended by our family & friends. The Hall has so much character and is set in lovely grounds. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was very good. Our room was very much in keeping with the tradition of the building although a bit too warm on a night. Indeed it was a lovely touch to have the curtains drawn and the bedside lamps on when on arrival we entered the room. We loved the big roaring fire at the bottom of the imposing wooden staircase which is great for a winter weekend away. We do think it needs to maintain its history and not go too modern though. The main bar is slightly at odds with the rest of the hotel & has very bright lighting but the attached conservatory does make up for it. We nevertheless had a great weekend with a visit to Scarborough , a walk on the beach, some cockles & mussels, a play on the penny slot machines & a trip up the funicular tram. Fabulous weekend and we shall definitely be returning.

We booked a room at Wrea Head Hall Hotel as there was an offer of a 15% reduced rate for a limited time which coincided with a birthday and anniversary celebration. The receptionist, Laura, was lovely throughout the booking which I made over the phone. Kevin, on reception during our stay was also lovely. Our room (room 41) was tastefully decorated and clean, the bed was super comfortable. However, we could hear the couple next door early morning ( although we did discover that the lady wore hearing aids and could only wear one during the stay). The bathroom was lovely, with a roll-top bath and a shower. One of the towels really needed to be disposed of as it was greying, thin and had a small hole in it! The food was exquisite!! Compliments to the chef. Our waitress Emma was lovely. The bar area and other communal areas of the hotel have a great ambience. The bar person, Josh was lovely. We would recommend this hotel and will hopefully return ourselves!

Lovely room. Staff very friendly and attentive. Greeted by manager Kevin who gave us a tour at the start. Never had that anywhere before. Food was excellent with great choice at dinner and breakfast. This is now our favourite non-chain hotel and we will definitely be returning. Thank you to everyone for a brilliant weekend.

Just had another wonderful weekend at Wrea Head, it was our wedding anniversary and my husband’s birthday and everything was just perfect. Plus a lovely treat of a room upgrade. The food was amazing the Black Forest trifle was to die for! The staff were fantastic as usual and a real credit to hotel, making you feel very welcome. Only negative was that it was not long enough 😁

We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. Hotel was full of character, set in beautiful grounds in a great location to explore other parts of the east coast by car. Our room was tastefully decorated with lovely comfortable bed and bedding. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful and nothing too much trouble. Food was delicious with a varied menu reasonably priced and a great choice at breakfast. What else is there to say other than we’ll definitely be returning.
