Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for three nights, from Monday to Thursday, arriving home yesterday. GOOD POINTS The location of the hotel is very good, it being a short walk along Huntriss Row to the main street, many bars and restaurants, the train station, bus stops, and the Stephen Joseph Theatre. The breakfast was the best we’ve ever had, with local produce cooked to perfection, and excellent service. The decor in the public rooms is beautiful. Our bedroom was spacious, with a great bed and plenty of storage. The free parking for residents on site is very good. BAD POINTS Don’t expect good wifi in the rooms; when it worked (it dropped often) we only got one little dot on the fan shape indicator. Our bathroom, though plenty large enough with a separate bath and shower wasn’t very clean, had a cracked tile, and the shower had a lot of visible mould; I reported this mould to reception but nothing was done. The shower head had leaks at the joining to its pipe. The restaurant was very pricy, eg £35 for a steak dinner. It was possible for residents to get a three course dinner for £35, with steak having an £8 supplement. Unfortunately, we can’t manage three courses any more, so ate out all three nights. All the food on offer seemed to be of the Masterchef ilk, which isn’t universally popular. We will use the hotel again, and hope for a better room.

Our first time at The Palm Court hotel but hopefully not our last. The room was comfortable and clean but the absolute pearl in the oyster has to be the food and staff. We have NEVER in 30 years and trying different hotels around scarborough had such a beautifully cooked, red hot breakfast. Fantastic choice and the staff are extremely attentive. A lovely little touch was the scrummy Easter chocolate left in our room by housekeeping, who deserve a special shout out for the exceptional job they did every day. Just lovely.

Sadly we booked a 2 night stay at this hotel we booked the classic king size 5. Room. In this room we imagined a nice sized room with somewhere to sit and a king sized bed and a nice clean modern on sweet has the hotel says it’s newly modernised and holds 3 stars from the AA. What we got was a small musty room with one chair one dressing table a 4.6 bed a on sweet with a hole in the ceiling and heating you cannot turn off at times the temperature in the room reached 27c and forget opening a window thay have bars on them and the view out of sed windows was a bin storage area. It looks like the man from the AA starring department missed the 3rd floor when ticking his little boxes.

It's a nice hotel , showing its age a bit , but it is made into 5 star by the friendly and highly efficient staff. They go above and beyond to make sure of your comfort and keep smiling at the same time . It has well appointed rooms with free WiFi, and free parking is available down the hill .

We love staying at this hotel. The staff are all very professional, friendly & will go out of their way to help you. The restaurant is simply stunning and so is the food! It is outstanding! We can’t understand why people don’t take advantage of it because as residents there is a discount. The rooms are always clean and nicely decorated. Check in and check out are simple and quick. It is in a fantastic place in Scarborough with its own car park! Can’t wait to go back!

Just had a great few days for Valentines. Lovely friendly, professional staff. The food in the resturant was delicious, cooked beautifully & served professionally. Nothing any trouble, even the young staff well trained. Would definitely go back again soon. The longe was excellent for food too. Cooked fresh to order.

Stayed 1 night, 9 February, after a function in Town Center. An ideal location for this purpose with complementary garage parking. We first parked in the public car park signed 'Palm Court' and then, alerted by the receptionist, had to move the car to the hotel's parking signed 'Residents'. The solution is to improve the signage, and to send a little map with the booking confirmation - we are not the only guests to be confused. We were unfortunate in the room we were given. The wash basin tap was defective. It delivered only a trickle of hot water, and that drained away because the basin plug was also defective. The panel enclosing the bath was damaged and needs replacing. We reported this at reception. A note was taken. My offer to show the defects was not taken up. We did not ask for compensation. However none was offered! By contrast, our evening meal in the lounge was excellent, as was breakfast - we had scrambled eggs and salmon on crumpets. The young staff were charming, efficient and attentive. How typical was our room? 4 stars may be generous
