Welcome to The Windmill, just a 5 minute walk from the bustling town centre of Scarborough, its busy railway station and close to the iconic Stephen Joseph Theatre which hosts regular plays and concerts throughout the year. The Windmill, is located in a quiet cul-de-sac and is the last remaining windmill in Scarborough offering quality self-catering and bed & breakfast accommodation with limited free parking. We have three king-size four poster rooms overlooking the courtyard and 2 lovely Suites in The Windmill itself; the Balcony Suite, for adventurous adults with a head for heights, and the lower Windmill Madeline Suite which is more spacious. We also have two single storey cottages in the courtyard, one cater for up to 5 people and the other for 4 people. So the choice is yours - you can cater for yourselves or be catered for with a hearty breakfast in The Windmill.

We decided to, on a whim, go to Scarborough for a couple of days to celebrate my daughter's birthday and my wife after her usual forensic search for accommodation found this hotel on the internet. As it was short notice we managed to get a 2 night stay in one of their cottages on site for a bit of a steal and it was worth every penny. From our very arrival our host was welcoming and friendly and talked us through all we needed to know about our cosy little cottage and the surrounding area. The cottage slept four and a child very comfortably in beautifully decorated rooms each with a lovely en suite bathroom with shower. The kitchen was superbly appointed with everything you'd need to knock up a meal and the location is pretty much a stones throw away from the town centre and ten minutes from the beach front area. It was a lovely stay and I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. It looks stunning and is a lovely place to stay.

The wife and I booked this as a last minute get away and we were lucky enough to get the Madeline suite, The windmill is situated in a cul de sac which is quite hard to find, we had to drive around the block twice to find it but once you notice it you’ll never miss it again. The windmill is absolutely stunning inside and out. We met Andy when we arrived who was really friendly and helpful. The suite itself was lovely, nicely decorated and set out with a living room area and kitchen on the first floor, a bedroom and on suite bathroom on the second floor. Mind the drunk step on the stairs, it caught me out after a few drinks🤣 Very clean and tidy TVs in the living area and bedroom. High speed Wi-Fi throughout We managed to park in the grounds and didn’t drive again until it was time to leave, everything we needed was ithin walking distance. The town centre is only a 5 minute walk away, the beach a little bit further. All in all, the windmill is a fantastic place, very peaceful and quiet. Highly recommend it. Hopefully we will be going back again for a few days next year.

Have just spent 2 very enjoyable nights in the balcony apartment of the windmill. The stairs are worth it for the amazing views across to the sea, the castle and the town. The apartment itself was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Andy; the owner was very friendly and happy to talk about the history of the windmill and their plans for it. His passion to sympathetically restore the building and do it well was obvious, and you couldn’t help but feel privileged to be able to stay in such an amazing space. We had no trouble parking in the courtyard and the area is lit up at night and looks really pretty. Location wise, it’s about a 5 minute walk from the station and theatre and about 15 minutes to the south bay seafront. There is an amazing restaurant called Embers (be sure to book ahead) and a microbrewery called the Stumble Inn within a few hundred yards of the windmill so what more could you want? We were sent a list of recommendations a short while before we came which, although we had already done our own research and booked, was a thoughtful touch. Would highly recommend this accommodation if you are looking for somewhere unusual to stay.

Stayed for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. The room was very spacious, clean, tidy and extremely well decored with tea, coffee facilities, iron and hairdryer in the wardrobe. Breakfast was cooked fresh and to order with plenty of choice. Owners are very friendly and passionate about the windmill and its history. Enjoyed our stay and will definitely choose the windmill in future visits to Scarborough

As a family of 12, we stayed at The Windmill for 2 nights, celebrating an 18th and 80th. Not sure the photo's do it justice as the whole place was impeccably kept, with lovely touches throughout with a very cosy feel. The hosts were really helpful and accommodating and gave us use of the dining room for a family celebration. Ideally located with the centre just 5 mins walk away and bars and restaurants very close by (some very small so would recommend booking). Would definatley return for another weekend.

Stayed for a mid week break in Scarborough and thought the windmill would be a quirky treat! We stayed in the top apartment, which is up a staircase around the side of the mill, probably not the best idea given the high winds and storm but actually this is perfectly safe and the reward at the top is well worth it. The apartment is well set out, across two floors, bedroom and shower room first and up a small staircase the kitchen and lounge. The rooms are well designed, obviously round, well decorated and equipped. The views over Scarborough are fantastic! Parking is limited but again we’ll set out and the Windmill is just five minutes walk from the centre. The hosts are very helpful and friendly, including recommendations for restaurants and cafes etc and more than happy to tell you about the windmill itself. Overall a great place to stay and experience, highly recommended.

We stayed at the Windmill for 3 days in June & I have to say its been one of the most unique places I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. We stayed in one of the suites with a four poster bed & bath. The bed was so comfortable & the linen & pillows were of such high quality. The rooms are spotless & the little special touches such as wine & beer glasses, lovely smellies etc are really appreciated. Andy & Nicola are wonderful hosts & nothing is too much trouble for them in going out of their way to make your stay as special as possible. Breakfast is lovely & there is so much choice on offer. A big thanks to Nicola for the lovely eggy bread & bacon. It was so tasty. We had a good chat with Andy regarding the age & location of the Windmill & it's surroundings which was totally fascinating. We had such a lovely stay & we will be returning to Scarborough & wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else by the Windmill. If you want a unique relaxing few days away the Windmill most definitely would be the place for you.

We stayed in the three bed Cornflower Cottage One over August Bank Holiday. The cottage was so well equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need and so beautifully decorated with lots of thought and detail in each room. My little one also loved that she had her own special room just off the master bedroom.
The Windmill itself is such a beautiful building and is nicely tucked away down a quiet street off the main road. Andy, Nicola, and their girls were wonderful hosts and on hand to help with anything from beach recommendations to takeaway menus. The location is great - in easy reach of the town and the attractions and near to shops and supermarkets.
There's just such a lovely relaxed feeling about staying at The Windmill. The weather was lovely when we stayed and rather than going out for dinner, we spent the evenings sat in the courtyard with a takeaway and a glass of wine. It really was the perfect break and we've already booked again for next year.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful break!

We stayed in a veranda room, very clean and comfortable. Our host Nicola was very helpful with some suggestions for dinning and with regard to catching the bus to Whitby instead of using our car, great idea. The local area does leave you wondering where on earth you are going when first going to the windmill but the area is quiet and close to the town centre and the cliff tramway down to the seafront. Various places to eat nearby. But the star attraction has to be the sight of the windmill as you approach the courtyard, it is just brill.
