Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic stop over last night. Staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. Chef was very cooperative when I explained my food issues after recent surgery. Both evening meal and breakfast were excellent. King-sized sea facing room was clean and spacious with a good supply of teas, coffee and hot chocolate. Beautiful views across the South Bay and nice walk down to the harbour. We will be back in the summer.

The hotel was great. It was lovely on arrival, the entry was was clean, pretty and welcoming. Parking was easy enough and it was right outside the hotel and right outside the tramway to the beach. Room was lovely and spacious with gorgeous views of the sea. We were on the 3rd floor. The bed was comfy and large. The room was clean and had a good stock of tea and coffee. The bathroom was nice and modern, the only downside was the small shower. Staff were friendly and helpful and the bar area had a cosy seating area with some board, card and quiz games.

My wife and I stayed for 1 night, 4th to 5th November 23, my brother and his daughters stayed at hotel at same time. Our room looked over the south bay, sea view. Room was fantastic, no complaints at all. We all had evening meal, again NO complaints, my wife and i had the chicken, delicious, my wife had the rice pudding, rest of us had the chocolate slice, so nice. Breakfast was amazing, Staff are so nice, nothing was a bother. We sat and relaxed with drinks after. Such a smart, clean, well maintained hotel, I ( we) would highly recommend this hotel. Thanks to staff, chiefs and all, keep up the hard work, it's clearly working, well done and thank you.

We’ve just enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch here with friends. Excellent food (we all had the beef which was tender and tasty and plenty of veg and gravy) and outstanding service - nothing was too much trouble. Think my husband will be raving about the cheeseboard for a long time to come!

I was running the Yorkshire Coast 10K and we decided to make a weekend of it. The hotel we stayed in previously had changed hands so we decided to try this one. The welcome was friendly and all the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Everywhere was clean and fresh looking despite it being an older hotel. We were bowled over by the view from our room, we could see the sweep of the south bay and the lights on the front in the evening. We had one evening meal in the hotel which was excellent. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order which I prefer over a buffet breakfast.

We arrived late and got the last seating of the night, which was great of them to accommodate us. The restaurant here was absolutely delightful, a new menu from what we heard and it was delicious! The staff were so kind and welcoming with some great recommendations! Would definitely come again!

Didn't stay there, just had a meal in their wonderful restaurant. But the hotel itself has been renovated and it is an excellent addition to Scarborough. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly. I would recommend going there. Mark R
