Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have just stayed at flowers of May for 3 nights in a pod. Firstly they advertise the pods for 4 people. The description states bunk beds and a sofa bed which turns into two single beds. When in actual fact, the back of the sofa bed is classed as a single mattress 😮, this is far from a single bed never mind even close to single mattress size. It’s the back of the sofa bed. The pod itself was also dirty, dust and dirt all over the floor and lolly wrappers under the sofa. After night one my husband went to complain to a very rude member of staff who claimed to be the manager, she had zero interest and stated there was nothing they could do. We were ready to leave at that point but had 2 upset children who had been looking forward to the getaway, we decided to stay and put up with the situation. Secondly the shower/toilet blocks aren’t very clean and constantly smelled of faeces with flys all over toilet area. Never did see a cleaner in the 3 days we were there. The pub was ok although entertainment lacked and nothing to entertain my 12 year old. One positive was the park which my kids did enjoy. The swimming pool was decent although I disagree with having to pay when staying on site. 4 families from the pod site left before there stay had came to an end which says a lot about the pods and site. We won’t ever be returning and I would advise people to avoid who are looking at staying in a pod or camping and needing to use facilities. Very poor site and staff at reception need customer service skills. Avoid

Hi Leanne, sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. The pods are advertised quite clearly in terms of what is provided and the make-up of the beds. We want people to be fully aware of the situation before arrival, so we have tried to be as explicit as possible in the description. Sorry you didn't feel like that was the case. The shower blocks are cleaned 3 times per day during the high season when they are being used more. If they are not in a condition you find acceptable, we always encourage people to let us know and we can send cleaners in for an added clean. In regards to swimming, we operate it in this way so that those who don't want to swim don't get charged within the nightly fee for it as other parks do. We feel that works out fairly for everyone. While we are sorry you felt the manager was rude, the language used by your husband wasn't appropriate or acceptable for a family holiday park. If we could, we would've made other arrangements for your stay but there was no other accommodation we could've moved you into as we were fully booked. Sorry you won't be returning.

There should be a room for them to have music games and modern tech such as xbox and the arcade needs a full rethink all old machines some not working need replacing with modern machines . The chip shop needs to stay open later especially at weekends for when the club shuts. Adult entertainment needs improving the artist was total rubbish sone bloke called Sass it was dreadful

Hi Kim, we have lots of facilities for people to enjoy, but the teenager age group is particularly tricky to cater for. We take your comments on board regarding a room with modern tech, it will be passed on along with the feedback on the fish and chip shop. We have different artists each week and sometimes the one that's on the week you are staying might not be to your taste but we do try and have acts that appeal to the majority.

On arrival the lady in reception was not friendly, gave me very little information. We weren't advised that you need your barrier pass for the swimming pool, we queued up to pay but then had to walk all the back to our pitch to get the pass. I was under the impression that you can have any unused electric refunded at the end of the stay, I had £9.41 left on the card but was then told only tent pitches get refunds!? The pitch was tiny, had to squeeze my van and awning in. Toilet and shower facilities ok but not checked often enough. Did not use the bar or entertainment so can't comment. Overall, not value for money and will not return.

Hi, sorry you felt disappointed with your stay. An information leaflet is given at check-in to speed up the the process of getting you on your holidays as quickly as possible. All the information regarding electric is provided in there and we will often issue electric for tourers in smaller amounts where possible so you can use them and not leave money on the meter (which can't be refunded). Tents can load the credit back on to their card to refund in reception.

My family stayed here this week, sadly we won’t be returning, facilities unadequate and all they way up a hill to use toilet’s and pot wash, our pitch was on a slope we had a large thorn pierce through our groundsheet as pitches not maintained, patches of nettles behind. No security patrols on an evening.Large parties of young adults on site which resulted in loud music drunken arguments,One woman never stopped shouting at her feral kids opposite us kept us awake all night. Just felt like site couldn’t be bothered with campsite area maintenance. General store sold a wide range of products and Fish & Chips from onsite shop were amazing!

Hi, I don't know if this has been posted to the wrong page, but we don't have any hills on our park leading up to shower blocks. Our grounds/pitches are also maintained by our ground staff, hedges and grass cutting is done as often as is possible.

The young man who looks to manage the bar and led the quiz on the evening of the 17th should not work there; he is not friendly, totally rude and up himself. He is damn right rude and makes a point to make you feel uncomfortable. Also saying the park is dog friendly and they aren’t allowed in all day Friday and Saturday! Do not come here.

Hi, sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. It sounds like you had some other inconsiderate campers staying with you both noise wise, and using the facilities correctly. If in future anyone finds the toilet blocks in a situation such as this, please report it to us ASAP and it will be rectified.

Have just returned from a short camping trip with our young family which we cut short. Facilities are poor and very outdated. You have to pay extra for swimming even when staying on the site, the pool itself isn't great and definitely not entertaining for the children. The fact you have to pay extra for electric when you have paid extra for the electric pitch is a bit of a joke. We had some really inconsiderate people on the site who played inappropriate music until gone midnight and allowed their children to do as they please including running between tents and shining torches in. The campsite it's self needs better management to ensure that this doesn't happen we shouldn't have to continue to complain. We will not be returning, and if you want a family trip and to sleep at some point this isn't the place for you!! I did email customer services and Chloe replied with an insincere apology and it was purely acknowledging my email. Also the park needs some TLC the floor is so uneven my 2 year old spent more time on the floor due to tripping up!

Hi, sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We do try to make things as clear as possible prior to your stay. A pre-arrival email explains about the swimming pool. Also included in that email is information about electric, it's also explicitly shown on booking that electric isn't included in the price - you don't pay extra for a pitch with a hook up - you just pay for the electric you use on top. We also encourage people to speak to us at the time there is noise late at night using the out of hours number provided so we can address the issue at the time. The information is provided when checking in.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We would encourage people to speak to the warden on the out of hours number if this sort of thing is happening. We have strict rules and have been known to remove people from the park if their behaviour warrants it. Please speak to us if this is happening and we can address it at the time.

We’ve just got back from Flowers of May today after going for over 10 years with family and we’ve all decided we won’t be going back. We got a warm welcome at main reception where the staff were lovely. The bar however was a very different experience. Previous years the entertainment was brilliant but now it feels a little lost, we had a variety of ages from young children to teenagers and adults and it felt very split. The entertainment was below average even for the young kids but once that finished the live singers were in a completely different room so we were all bored. On one occasion we went into the so-called over 18 room as our young people were over in the arcade and there were clearly underage people getting served alcohol! However, the main reason we won’t be returning is the bar managers attitude was absolutely disgusting, he either needs retraining in customer service or replacing with somebody who actually knows how to engage with people. He never once cracked a smile or used his manners in fact at times he was downright intimidating. At one point one of our group asked him to change a note for pound coins, he banged his hands on the bar and rudely told him no. Another one of our group mistakenly brought in some food and was told to leave with it which would have been absolutely fine if it weren’t for the way the bar manager spoke to him and then completely ignored the fact that the man on the table behind us was also eating food and wasn’t asked to leave. I also heard the same member of staff arguing at the bar with another customer whilst serving somebody else! I would like to add that all the other bar members were lovely so it’s a shame that their manager can’t lead by example! We’ve got some amazing memories at flowers of May so it’s a shame that it’s had to end this way.
