Detailed Reviews
We visited Tall Storeys for 2 nights over the Bank Holiday weekend, it is in a great location as long as you are ok walking up a short hill. It is on a lovely quiet street and also close to the beach front and a short walk from nice restaurants and bars in the town.
You will be given a parking permit for your car, and you can park for free on any of the nearby streets.
The proprietors are very helpful and friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and nothing is too much trouble.
We had room 2 with 4 poster bed and sea view. We’ve seen a few reviews saying the rooms are too small but we found it perfectly big enough. It was clean, well equipped with plenty of coffee/tea biscuits etc, and the wi-fi worked well.
breakfast is lovely and thought has been given to social distancing, tables are nicely spaced and each one has its own buffet table with cereals, juice and fresh fruit for you to help yourself before your cooked breakfast arrives.
The decor is quirky and individual and in keeping with the age and style of the building. If you want something plain, modern and bland then you’d be better staying at a Travelodge.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if we return to Scarborough would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the above Guest House for a 2 night mid week stay ,the accommodation was excellent and the owners were very courteous and very knowledgeable about the area.
Breakfast was included in the price and this to was excellent.
A parking permit was provided for the duration of our stay and the location of the accommodation was a 5 minute walk to the harbour,(some rooms had harbour views)
We can thoroughly recommend this Guest House (for adults only) and recommend anyone should view there website.

We enjoyed a lovely stay at this wonderful b&b in Scarborough's old town, it is near the harbour and the south beach and convenient for shopping in the town. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable and safe stay with them as COVID 19 guidelines were stringently adhered to. Breakfast every morning was superb with a wide ranging choice of both hot and cold items. Our room was beautiful with a four poster bed and en suite facilitates. We would not hesitate to recommend this brilliant hotel.

My partner and I chose this place firstly because of the excellent harbour location and sea views, and secondly for the lovely photography of the room on the website. Boasting a four poster bed and cosy decor it seemed idyllic. Upsettingly this turned out to not be the room we were given. Insted on arrival we were ussured into a box room next to the front door with a tiny shabby bed and a view of the council flats. It was horrible, dated multiple wall papers your grandmother may of remembered and so small I thought it was a cloakroom. Two charity shop dressing gowns hung up in a closet that Terry Thomas would have ripped his moustache off at in disgust. The proprietor was awkward asking questions about if we were nornal for breakfast and questioning the size of my partners suitcase. This interrogation continued about why she wanted to stay in Scarborough. We asked for an alternative room, and were told it was not his problem. On leaving for fresh air I discovered the room wouldn't lock. We had to find alternative accommodation ruining our holiday. The proprietor refused us any form of refund as he apparently sent us 14 images of this room. False advertising hotel catfish.

We are sorry that you and your partner did not choose to stay at Tall Storeys and have both left 1 star reviews on TripAdvisor. We understand you believed you had booked to stay in a different room, however as confirmed by Booking.com, the room we provided was the room you had booked and paid for. Unfortunately, as we were fully booked, we could not offer an alternative room. We offer a range of breakfast choices to suit dietary requirements and ask our guests on arrival. As a small business we have a clear cancellation policy, and it was your choice NOT to stay with us at Tall Storeys. Tall Storeys is a quaint and cosy bed and breakfast in a Victorian townhouse based in Scarborough's old town, and we pride ourselves on this. In fact, it is the reason many of our guests love to stay with us time and time again.

Another great stay ... lovely room with a view of the sea + 4 poster bed (Room 2).
Breakfast cooked by Ian and looked after by Morna - guests spaced out so felt safe with this and with lots of hand alcohol around.
To minimise contact the rooms were not daily serviced but you could ask for anything you required (additional drink sachets or fresh towels) = makes a lot of sense

A repeat trip - great hosts and fantastic location.
All Covid precautions in place - handwash / social distancing / individual breakfasts etc = we felt very safe.
We twice just missed seeing the dolphins in the harbour = we had room 4 with the view.

We’ve just had another fantastic 3 night stay at Tall Storeys. This is the 8th year we’ve been coming back. We can always rely on a warm friendly welcome, clean and comfortable room and delicious breakfasts. Ian and Morna have handled small changes due to COVID rules really well and we feel safe staying at Tall Storeys.Â
Time and time again we’ve met lots of lovely people in the breakfast room who have nothing but compliments for the place and its owners. Many of those we’ve talked to are, like us, returning customers and we all go for the same reasons. Tall Storeys is well kept, clean and regularly decorated, it’s a lovely place to have a relaxing holiday.
And did I mention the fantastic breakfasts! You don’t need to have everything on the menu but who can resist, especially as you walk down the stairs to be greeted by the lovely smells of Ian’s cooking and the friendly and very informative chat from Morna.
Already looking forward to going back,
Martin & Maggie

Four of us ( two married couples) stayed at the lovely Tall Storeys,13th and 14th of august. Both our rooms were excellent ,a lovely comfortable bed,our friends had a four poster bed. There was tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a kettle and ample cups for drinks. We were made very welcome by Ian and Morna our hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a parking permit and we're lucky enough to park almost outside the door. We were given a code number for access to the front door. Our breakfast was superb with a choice of cereal, fresh fruit and tea or coffee. The full English breakfast was hot and very tasty with different choices. All in all it was a really enjoyable stay in a lovely hotel and I recommend it to anyone who wants to be looked after in Scarborough which is only a few minutes walk from the sea front.

We stayed at Tall Storeys for 2 nights at the beginning of September. It was a last minute booking as our break in York had turned into a disaster. We were greeted by Ian when we checked in and were given the relevant check-in information; parking, door code, breakfast time etc, then left to settle in. Our room was lovely, with a four poster bed, plush carpet, comfy chairs and an en-suite. It was clean and fresh with quality drapes and bedding.
Breakfast was terrific, with our own little buffet containing fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, cereals, fruit juice and preserves. After this, we were given a choice of eggs, with a choice of 3 cooking types, sausage, bacon, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans and saute potatoes, or all of the above if you were feeling brave, with white or brown toast and tea or coffee. All were served by the lovely Morna, who greeted us and took our order. The dining room was decorated with an assortment of plates and glassware, as well as pictures and paintings by a local artist, whose name I forgot to ask.
All in all, our long weekend away was saved by the discovery of this wonderful property, which we wouldn't hesitate to use again if we were in the area.

What a wonderful place. We stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend. On arrival we were met by Ian who was very hospitable and helped us with our luggage Our room was at the top of the house up a lot of stairs but we knew this when we booked It was well worth the climb the view was wonderful and there are even binoculars to enjoy the view. The room it’s self was small but was to be expected in this lovely old house. My husband was rather dubious about the shared bathroom but he needn’t have worried as Ian pointed out that they only book 1 room on the top floor at a time so we had the top floor to ourselves
In the my we went down for breakfast the dining room was lovely with lovely pictures to look at. The breakfast itself was the best we had experienced and Morna was lovely taking our order and nothing seemed too much trouble
Thank Morna and Ian for a wonderful stay. We will be back 😘
