As always we had a lovely guided walking holiday courtesy of HF. Great food, good walking leaders and very good company. We were also blessed with perfect walking weather when we stayed there in August.

We stayed for a 4 day short break ("self guided walking", in HF parlance). The hotel has been modernised, we received a warm greeting from the manager. There are 3 course dinners, with an excellent variety to choose from. HF is famed for friendliness of guests and we spoke to most of the other 34 guests during our 4 days....

We've just spent a week here on a walking holiday and this has been a brilliant base. The usual high quality HF food, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and excellent facilities including lovely and well-tended grounds, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a small croquet lawn, a big heated boot room (essential for a walking holiday), good parking, and lots...

My wife and I were part of a group of nineteen enjoying a four nights HF Holidays break. Most of us were booked in for Guided Walking, the remainder enjoying Country House Breaks. The location was perfect for both types of holiday, and the weather turned out to be much drier than forecast. Our room was spacious and well maintained,...

Wonderful scenery. Beautiful rooms, each a little different in fabrics and colours. excellent boot and equipment area. Plenty of choice for all meals, and a good standard of cuisine. Perfect for a walking holiday or just a stay in the country. Buses to Lynton. Pretty garden area around manor house. Friendly atmosphere, ideal for solo travellers.

Set just off the A39, but miles out of Minehead (its postal address) this is a lovely old house owned by the NT but rented out to HF holidays for their walking holidays. Their guests are mainly retired people who enjoy communal walking holidays. For meals one sits round a large table with other guests waiting for good wholesome (not...

To be honest I found it difficult to find anything I didn't like about Holnicote House! I have just returned from a five day stay with a group of 40 others - each year a different location is chosen and we spend the time walking and sightseeing. This is the fourth HF hotel I have stayed in with this group...

Like many others, I came here as part of an HF Guided Walking holiday. Staff welcoming and room was good and spacious. It was just a little too warm and I had a problem opening the sash window, but staff soon rectified this and I was happy and comfortable. Food was delicious with many choices. Weather was wonderful and I...

We were at the hotel as part of an HF Activity holiday in September 2015. Room The room was a good size as we had paid extra for a Premium room. There was plenty of storage space, including drawers. All the drawers were stiff and difficult to open, however. The décor was quite modern and the beds were comfortable. There...
