The Beach Hotel charms guests with its friendly atmosphere and dog-welcoming policy, boasting spacious rooms that offer comfort and stunning sea views, though it's not without occasional maintenance and cleanliness hiccups. The hotel's staff garners acclaim for their exceptional service, and the apprenticeship program is a notable highlight.
While the cleanliness is generally celebrated, some guests have pointed out room servicing inconsistencies. With its enviable beachside location, guests also appreciate the value for money, including the delectable breakfast options.

We stayed here for one night and booked two double rooms, one on the first floor and one on the second.
On arrival, we were greeted by the very friendly staff behind the bar and Jess (apologies if that spelling is incorrect!) on reception. We were aware we were over an hour earlier than the stated check-in time and yet Jess was kind enough to check whether the rooms were ready and allowed us to check in to the one that was. We especially appreciated this as we had an elderly relative with us.
The hotel car park is very small - think it could accommodate say just 8 or 9 vehicles. The hotel is located just steps from the train station and although that has a car park, it was relatively expensive (around £2 an hour) so although we used it whilst we offloaded our luggage, we were keen to find somewhere cheaper to leave the car overnight. Jess was again extremely considerate and helpful with this and directed us to use some free roadside parking a street or so away until a space in the hotel car park became available. Again, we appreciated this helpful local knowledge.
Both our rooms were spacious with great views over the seafront. The beds were ample sized and very comfortable, and the large en-suites were very clean, with a shower-over-bath combination that worked perfectly. We all reported sleeping soundly.
A slight snag was the poor Wi-fi reception. We found it worked intermittently in the room on the second floor but not at all on the first. This didn’t affect us too much as we were only staying one night, but I suppose it could be difficult for those relying on it.
The staff at breakfast were lovely, efficient and welcoming. The food was very tasty; we had ‘The Beach’ full English which was cooked to perfection. Croissant, cereal, juices and tea and coffee were also in plentiful supply.
The lady on checkout (sorry we didn’t get your name) was very pleasant and overall I would say this was the case with all the staff from the moment we arrived. An excellent seaside hotel, great value for money and we’d certainly be more than happy to return.

The room rates here are very reasonable & include a cooked breakfast if you want it. We stay in a luxury double & the mattresses & pillows are sooo comfy, the rooms are very clean & fresh & the breakfasts in particular are all fresh cooked from your order placed the night before & are in addition to the fresh pastries on the counter.
The location is brilliant, literally across the road from the beach with separate sandy, pebbly & also dog friendly areas. They have a restaurant (open some nights, not all) & a pleasant bar area plus additional seating areas inside & out.
Hotel parking (free) is limited, first come, first served, but it's next to the the main Pay & Display car park which is free overnight from 6pm until 9am which helps.
This hotel is run by the YMCA & gives youngsters an opportunity to train in all aspects of hotel work. Things may seem a little slower at times but the trainees are generally keen to learn & to please us so patience is key. After all, if we're on a break away then surely we have time to be a little patient if needed.
We've just stayed here again, for the fourth time I think, & on leaving today we have immediately rebooked for next summer at preferential rates for returning guests. If we can manage an additional sneaky weekender between times then we surely will 😁
All the staff are really good, very helpful, but look out for Amy in particular who shines with her bright & cheery "can do, will do" approach to a guest's request. Amy, you're a star 🌟
Thanks to Matthew & his team for another great stay!

My husband and I stayed in this hotel in a deluxe room, Porlock Bay, from the 3rd July until the 8th.
It is quite a large room with a double wardrobe, a Tallboy (5 drawers), a King size bed with bedside cabinets and lamps. There is a large two seater settee and a small table where a kettle with tea and coffee is. A bottle of water is supplied daily. There is a reasonably sized TV.
There is no safe and no real secure lock on the door which makes this hotel lacking somewhat. There is free WiFi.
The bathroom is very nice with shampoo and conditioner supplied and a bath with a shower attachment. There is a nice sized sink with a soap dispenser and white towelling.
There is a small reception area with very friendly staff. The bar area is close by and the kitchen and dining area.
There is a fitness gym and conference room.
The breakfast is very nice and cooked fresh for your order so there can be a wait but it is worth it. There are also cereals and croissants and tea/coffee and juices.
This hotel is owned by the YMCA which they use to train residents and provide apprenticeships to get a good start in life.
The hotel is sea facing on top of the beach and close to bus routes and the West Somerset Railway. Also the Hotel is dog friendly.
Other places of interest are within easy reach.
We would return. Had a very good visit.

This is our third visit and it was as enjoyable as the first and second. We will look forward to staying again next year. Our room was spotlessly clean and although simply decorated it was tastefully "beachy". The bathroom was also very clean and shiny and the towels bright white and fluffy. There were large bottles of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner which lasted us for our four night stay and would last for at least a month!!
Breakfast had to ordered the night before but at least it was freshly cooked to order and plentiful. We both opted for the full English, the sausages were very tasty as was the black pudding and the mushrooms very large and not the usual tasteless version. Beans came in their own pot, instead of overflowing the rest of the breakfast. We noticed other guests were choosing omelettes and poached eggs all looking very good and well presented. The croissants were to die for as they were cooked in the kitchen each morning and were served warm with butter and conserves. There was a good selection of cereals and a variety of different milks. There was no evening meal available as there was a shortage of staff but we look forward to returning next year for a nice relaxing, stress-free break and to catching up with the friendly, efficient staff. This hotel is superbly situated on the seafront in Minehead and gives excellent value for money and we can certainly recommend it.

We had an excellent one night stay, we booked a sea view room which was great The location is perfect directly across from the sea, and next to the steam railway. Rooms are basic, but had everything you need. The car park is small, but there is a public car park next to the hotel £7 for the whole day. Breakfast was cooked fresh, which was delicious, limited buffet choices of cereal and croissants. Fresh juices and tea coffee are available. Great stay, I hope to return.

We stayed at the Beach Hotel for a weekend in June as it was dog friendly & I'm so glad we did. This is not a particularly spectacular looking hotel from the outside but inside is diffent kettle of fish entirely. The rooms are simply huge! They are also spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds & beautifully decorated in a coastal/nautical theme.
There is no fridge in the room we stayed in but when we arrived, we were asked if we took milk with our tea/coffee & were then provided with small bottles of fresh milk on lots of ice in a small bucket - perfect, we thought.
Sadly, they have no chef to cover evening meals at the moment but they do serve breakfast & lunch. The menu choice is fairly small but the options are imaginatively created & beautifully created & presented. I'm not vegetarian but when I saw the Garden Breakfast option, I had to choose it & it was a very good decision - pan fried halloumi, roasted whole tomato, Moroccan felafels, large field mushroom, toasted sourdough, soft poached egg, slow roasted red pepper & hash brown topped with peashoots was a breakfast to die for - even my carniverous husband was jealous!
The hotel is staffed by apprentices overseen by experienced hospitality staff and seems to run incredibly efficiently from what we could see. It's a brilliant idea & one which could, I feel, be adopted in many hotels up & don the country.
Thoroughly recommend a stay there!

Every year we travel to Cornwall a day early & stay overnight in a hotel somewhere; this year we chose Minehead as we wanted to visit Cleeve Abbey, and after reading great reviews we chose this hotel. Its location is perfect & sea views from the room an added bonus. However, we were very disappointed! The reception & restaurant staff were lovely & helpful & couldnt be faulted, but the cleaning staff are another story. Our room (107) was filthy. It was full of fruit flies, there was no coffee, the cafetiere had been used & not replaced, there was a used cotton bud in the bedside drawer, an empty vape box under the wardrobe & multiple Dobble cards (kids game) under the sofa bed. The bathroom looked clean but on closer inspection needed a deeper clean, as did the rest of the room. There was no headboard & the base must have been broken as the mattress sank in the night. The woman on reception was really helpful; she sprayed the flies & replaced the cafetiere, but she was limited to what she could do. Positively, breakfast was really nice & the kitchen coped well when a lot of us came down at the same time. We won't be staying again & wouldn't recommend.

Good morning I was happy to hear that your stay was mostly positive but I agree that we have fallen below our own standards in regard to your room. We would be eager to make amends so would like you to contact us at your convenience to do so. Although we are always disappointed to hear of a negative guest experience it will serve as a learning experience for us to improve our service and for that we thank you. kind regards many thanks

I travelled to Minehead mainly to visit the West Somerset Railway. The hotel is located just across the road from Minehead Station and the bus stop. I travelled by public transport which involved getting the bus from Taunton. + The staff were helpful and very friendly. + My room was very nice and had an excellent view of the seafront and the railway. + There is no lift but the staff will offer to take your luggage up and down stairs (recommended). - The bath had an over-the-bath shower mixer tap fitted which required some adjustment to get the right temperature.
This did not detract from my stay.
In addition, there is a bus service to Lynmouth which operates from Minehead and offers a truly memorable journey over Exmoor.
I would recommend the location to anybody who like me wishes to spend a few days by the sea.

This is a review of two members of staff as much as a review of the venue itself. I visited the restaurant at The Beach Hotel with my son over the weekend. He has some severe allergies and rarely gets to eat away from home. The staff were absolutely wonderful and ensured he was safe and happy the whole time.
The chef prepared him a meal separately to ensure it was safe. Both the lovely woman who served us and the chef came over to ensure we were doing ok and he was happy. It made his day. Thank you.
This was the weekend of the 20th July, the woman with the roman army tattoo and the chef with a marvellous moustache are absolute heroes. Both were happy to take as long as we needed.

Well located hotel. A large comfortable bedroom with an en suite that included a bath (a bonus). Busy patio with good seating. Restaurant and bar provided relaxing setting to recover from a hard day's cycling. Staff were keen to help including providing a place for use to secure our bikes overnight. Fish dinner was well prepared and good value.

Dear Ellie
We have dog friendly rooms on the 2nd floor in standard, deluxe and luxury accommodation. We can provide the dogs beds if you request them and dog bowls in rooms.
If you wish to breakfast with your dogs, we can sit you in a dog friendly area as we don't allow dogs in the galley restaurant.
We are all big dog lovers, all we ask for is that they are well behaved and only left in bedrooms if they are well trained or put in a crate.
Please call 01643 704765 if you would like to book direct and then we can accommodate all your needs.
Kind regards
