We love Butlins but to not be contacted or be able to contact them to rearrange a booked holiday that can’t happen before they reopen is no way to treat existing customers. We are watching all our alternative dates disappear while Butlins take new booking online but are doing nothing for those already booked with them. Phone line has a message that says if you hear this your call cannot be answered - we have been trying daily since the last announcement and have the same each time - it’s likely between my wife and we’ve tried over 600 times.
Good luck in speaking to anyone at Butlin’s. 1 hour and 30 minutes on hold and still no luck. Sent a email every day for 3 months and not one response. Please don’t bother with this company, don’t care.
Long story short. We cancelled our holiday for Minehead Butlins, which was booked for the weekend of 11th - 14th December. We were told that we would be refunded in full and it would take up to 28 days to land back in my partner's bank account. My partner rings up last week to try and get an update on our refund. She was told the refund had been approved on the 13th December and the money would be back into her account by the 20th and if it wasn't to get back in touch. Comes the 20th (yesterday) and no refund. My partner gets back in touch and out of nowhere we can't get a refund because apparently we paid for our holiday using vouchers and they can't refund vouchers, which is strange because we paid by debit card and have bank statements clearly showing the transactions. Absolute bad form for Butlins!! I wonder how many other people they are scamming out of their money??…
Lovely Monday to Friday break, booked lake view chalet and it was spotless, clean bedding and excellent location. Included in the break was entertainment, swimming and use of the fairground. You had to book all activities via the app which caused no problems for us. There were some shows that were fully booked but we kept checking and were able to book once someone else dropped out. You could order drinks via b serve app and despite being in tier 2, did not have to order food with them. Social distancing was fine, hand santitiser everywhere and reduced capacity at swimming. Evening entertainment couldve been better with a couple of acts but still great value for money and gave us a feeling of a normal night out. Would stay again but only in a chalet now as it was perfect.
Firstly, we visit Butlin’s Minehead Resort a few times each year for a cheap (although we stay in Bayside) weekend away and it’s always great. We haven’t been this year because of COVID but the entertainment and Bayside apartments are amazing. I had a weekend booked in July and it was cancelled because they were closed. They called me to ask if I wanted to let them keep the money and rebook. So I did, for next July (2021). I have since lost my job and the weekend we booked was actually quite expensive compared to other times we have been so I emailed to cancel it using the holiday protection cover and the “book with confidence” guarantee that if you are made redundant they will refund. Well it’s a £50.00 cancellation fee AND you have to pay £19.00 to cover the holiday protection guarantee. So this bad review isn’t about the resort itself, it’s about how they make you feel that your money is safe with them but it actually isn’t. So don’t book with confidence at all, make sure the weekend is achievable and you won’t need to cancel. Also... “lowest price guaranteed” they won’t refund you unless you physically see it cheaper yourself and then email them with a search reference number to prove it was a cheaper price. Shame, my little girl enjoys a Butlin’s weekend but I doubt we’ll ever book again now. …
