Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lovely nights stay on business. Very quiet and relaxed environment, lovely building. Hosts were attentive with a fantastic breakfast and lovely poached eggs. Room was clean tidy and modern. Highly recommend a short stay here at the relish, with prime location!

Sadly, this place is a little bit of a joke. They are not what they claim on their website and it’s unlikely they ever will be. Other recent reviews are accurate, but worth pointing out: - it’s not luxury - it’s old, creaky and badly maintained - it does smell - it feels dirty - it’s not 5 star - there is no welcome drink - there are no cakes on offer - the breakfast did not have fresh bread - the egg cookery was disastrous - the fruit at breakfast is old and mouldy - there in no service On the last point, the service was terrible. Not really sure what was going on here, but the person on front desk was vacant and unhelpful. Be sure to let them know you’ve parked out the front so they can issue a permit, they don’t tell you that you need one, but then again they don’t actually tell you anything. One redeeming factor, location is ok. To the owner: don’t make bold claims you hear no intention on attempting to uphold.

“Folkestone’s only 5 star accommodation”. Firstly. If you are going to make this kind of claim you need to back it up. I am not sure what the owners consider “5 star” accommodation” but I can promise you this is not it. So immediately it’s all a bit awkward because this is not what you were expecting. Firstly it’s not a hotel. There is no bar, no restaurant. A 3 star B&B at best with a musty aroma. The reception is manned part time by a young lady who does not greet you with a welcoming smile. Or any smile come to that. We had ticked free parking on booking.com but were told we needed to pay £3.50 for a permit. There was definitely no free drink on arrival. Our room was on the top floor. (chimney) There is no lift. If you have mobility issues or struggle with stairs this is not the place for you as no one will offer tk help with bags. The room. Top floor. IKEA Malm furniture. Super king bed was comfy. Only one bed side lamp. Ancient tv in front of a mirror so you can’t really use the mirror. Kettle with Nescafé instant. - not sure who considers this 5 star?? Walls with cracked paint. Scuffs up the wall. Bathroom has a really wonky floor with a light bulb out making a dingy room even more so. If they had claimed to be a 3 star B&B the review would be ok. But they are claiming to be a 5 star luxury. If you want 3 star B & B stay. You’ll be happy. If you want luxury go to the Burlington for a similar price and don’t waste your money on this rubbish.

Would love to write a review of this hotel but sadly we can’t because they cancelled our reservation with less than 24 hours’ notice. Staff were very unapologetic. Completely left us in the lurch as all hotels within 20 miles were full and so had to drive home to Weybridge instead of staying overnight.

Really friendly staff, lovley spacious & comfortable room. Breakfast was fantastic, one of the best we've had in a long time. Some parts were a little tired which was a shame but would still definitely return.

How this hotel is ever given 5 stars is unbelievable to me it’s a very average hotel with tiny rooms and a mean spirited attitude. The indigo room is the smallest room I have stayed in since the 90’s , a tv the size of an iPad,drafty windows and a very average bathroom (some White Company toiletries do not make a bathroom luxury) the room is not even as good as an average premier inn and not even close to their plus rooms , never mind excellent chains like Resident or Moxy all so so much better and none of them claim to be luxury. I should have been wary when you book and are sent the longest list of terms and conditions I have ever seen . I’ve stayed in lower grade hotels in Folkestone but these hotels try to make up any shortcomings by offering helpful friendly customer service 4pm check in is just wrong even 11am check out is a bit mean Parking is difficult nearby so other Hotels have a link to the council parking site and sort out cheap all day parking this hotel doesn’t offer. So what is good about the hotel , a nice reception and lounge you never go in and their is complimentary coffee and water yet the complimentary wine and beer mentioned on the website is never offered ,btw free Wi-Fi is not really a selling point these days . To be fair breakfast is included which is just average the avocado on the toast couldn’t be spread any thinner , seating in the dining room is tired and maybe cleaning the splattered wall and door frame at the table where we ate would be nice . I wonder if the 6ft bedhead that came away from the wall and could have fallen on us at any point as it was inadequately fixed to the wall would be covered in those terms and conditions. However you do get a slice of cake!

After a couple of communication misunderstandings before arriving, we could not gave asked for more. Just stayed in a standard double, but it was beautiful, roomy for the price, and we had a bath with rainfall shower over which is unusual, I was expecting just a shower cubical. Breakfast was perfect.

Lovely little hotel. Nice clean room and comfortable bed. It's a short walk to the main shops or to the beach. Was a bit chilly when we arrived but used the electric fire for 10 mins and after that the heating made the room ideal. Parking was available nearby but we found a free space very close. Would definitely stay again.

We booked in for a stay in the orchid room, looked around the room and checked our mattress, it was so filthy and disgusting we asked the owner to have a look, she was apologetic and we then got a refund, didn’t get offered a different room, was a waste of a journey and complete disappointment, the state of the mattress was worrying!
