Set up in the Alkham Hills, Dover, is this charming, beautifully presented holiday experience. Every effort was made to make our stay authentic with a few extra amenities. The barrel top has a pull out bed up on top of cupboards, we are both larger people in our 40’s and 50’s, and fit next to each other snuggly but with comfort. My husband is five foot seven, and couldn’t quite get his legs straight, but was still able to be comfortable. There is a small step ladder to climb up into the bed, which we managed that well. The bed is up on a shelf but didn’t feel at all claustrophobic. All of the furnishings are authentic and clearly the owners pride and joy and have been looked after very well with a high level of cleanliness. Adjacent is a well thought out, bright and clean toilet and shower hut. A really super modern gem to add a bit of luxury to the experience. We glamp a lot, and it was so nice to not have to walk a long distance in the dark to get to the loo! Parking is also conveniently close to the wagon. A lovely extra is Dotty the Circa 1950’s caravan. Again beautifully and sympathetically refurbished, this is a welcome extra facility all laid out for dinning. Everywhere assessors and decorations have been thought out very carefully and are perfect for the experience. Breakfast is self-made with a selection of porridge, cereals, toast, eggs, tea, coffee and fresh orange juice. To add to the experience we chose an afternoon tea, which was as good as any we’ve had. A selection of sandwiches, hot sausage rolls, very light, fluffy and delicious cupcakes and warm fruit scones with cream and jam. The whole thing over looks a field and is next door to a wild flower meadow. There is a walk to be done over the field and through some woods. Cows were in the field at one point, over the fence, naturally curious the came over and we spent a few moments with them, really nice. Swifts shot through the sky overhead as we sat and ate our afternoon tea, in the peace and quiet only broken by birdsong. Whilst eating out breakfast we spotted a pair of blue tits busy feeding their young, right next to us, delightful. There is a local pub within driving distance of a few minutes, also village amenities, Folkestone Harbour and Dover are easy to get to. We actually spent the evening in Dotty listening to the radio, very unusual for us, but it was really nice, something different and really romantic. Overall smashing hosts and a delightful experience. https://www.facebook.com/lorraineromanydreams/

After Months of working very hard after previous lock down my family and I were in need of a break away I had recently lost my grandfather and a close friend who was From the Romany community. Having Romany ancestry on all sides I wanted to understand and experience what it was like to sleep in a traditional Romany varda and have the peace I needed to heal and rest . Romany dreams looked perfect And from the moment we arrived to leaving Lorraine was a perfect host and made the whole experience very special . There was more than enough Breakfast supplies and I absolutely loved the selection of books being able to read about the Romany way of life I believe helps many have a greater understanding. Tho I have lived with some of it my self nothing like the Ancestors The varda was really beautiful plenty of warmth even on a windy evening Plenty of wood for the Queenie stove Which kept me my husband and our two year old very warm . The older children stayed in the little caravan and also had a very cozy few nights sleep Every effort has been made to make it a special and magical experience and I really hope we get the chance to come again . I could not recommend this experience enough whether you want to reconnect with your routes or have the space to escape every day life and have a gentle and relaxing environment Romany dreams has all you need and more besides . Thank you xx 😘

My husband had booked Romany Dreams as a surprise for my Birthday. I was blown away by the adorable and quirky setting. Lorraine was so warm and welcoming. I loved the extra birthday touches and the wonderful picnic she made us. The kitchen and bathroom also had everything we needed and the bed was really comfortable. I would definitely recommend Romany Dreams for a unique weekend away in a beautiful setting. With lovely local pubs and Canterbury a short drive away, it was a wonderful weekend of adventure.

We were greeted very warmly by our host and shown all the amenities. The caravan is amazing! It has everything you would need and is decorated beautifully. The chalet is a great place to have breakfast and dinner giving you a bit more space. The surrounding fields are gorgeous too, we even met some very friendly four legged neighbours. And the dinner is amazing! We recommend the beef stew it was delicious and there was plenty of it. Lovely little treasure so close to us, we will be back!

Have just returned from Romany Dreams after a great experience spent in the uthentic Gypsy Caravan. My cousin had celebrated a special birthday last year and we wanted to celebrate our family’s roots. We were welcomed by our host Lorraine who showed us around and then cooked a wonderful Gypsy meal for us. The meal was beautifully cooked and presented to us and the cupboards and fridge had everything we needed for our stay. Our Caravan was comfortably and cool inside and beautifully decorated and well thought out. Help yourself breakfast in the quiet Kent country side the end to an enjoyable relaxing stay.
