The Southcliff is very reasonably priced with a great breakfast, The only thing I would say about the rooms is there isn't enough level access showers for disabled people. Rooms are very comfortable and I always get a great nights sleep. Me and my son visit a few times a year for a few days and always stay here because...

Found the hotel online and was the cheapest deals but looked ok, checked some reviews and looked at the pics and thought why not! Staff were very friendly, yes the place is a bit dated but i've stayed in 4* places a lot worse than this. The room was seaview, clean and tidy, all we needed for a short break...

Regular visitor when heading to Brussels on the early Eurotunnel crossing. At well under £30, you don't expect 5* luxuries, but really The Southcliffe is hard to fault. From the friendly welcome on arrival (better than many hotels at 5-6 times the price) to the clean rooms and if you're lucky a sea view. What's missing? Wifi not throughout the...

We booked the hotel as a cheap night of rest before heading off through the Eurotunnel, and it worked for this purpose - but would not have liked a longer stay. Hotel was very down-at-heel (we were told that renovations were ongoing, for what it's worth), window would not stay open (finally a use for that Gideon Bible to have...

Dear Mr Biege thank you for your review from 9th December stay. shame that you never appreciated our ongoing renovations, but after coming out of a global financial crisis where no bank would loan funds, we have had to rely on the budget end of the market to make ends meet. the downside to this is the income only covers...

If you're after a cheap stay before crossing on the euro tunnel or after then this is perfect. It is very shabby and very dated but for one night it did the job. The bathroom was tiny and it was a twin room but we were there all of eight hours. When walking to the rooms the stench of beer...

We had a great Christmas in the Hotel. First of all, we spent 56 Phounds for 2nights for 2 people without breakfast. We were worried about the low price but we were dissapointed :) As our room didn't have WIFI, we got a higher quaility room with WIFI within 10Minutes after we informed the Reception. The staff was nice and...

We stayed at the Southcliff enroute to France as we wanted a low cost bed for the night and that is exactly what we got. Having lowered our expectations we were happy to say that they were met. Our twin room was dated but warm and remarkably the bed was comfortable. Water was hot and the staff very pleasant Some...

We really liked this hotel. It's very old fashion but that's what makes it unique - it's nice to stay somewhere different from all the chain hotels. The staff were lovely and the rooms were cosy. The rooms are simple but do the job. We was upgraded to sea view rooms with a balcony aswell which was fab. The hotel...

This was the cheapest hotel near Dover I could find when I needed to cut a cross-Channel trip in half. In some ways it lived up to my expectations, in some ways it didn't, and in some ways it exceeded it. The location is wonderful, with many rooms having some of the best sea views in Folkestone. The building dates...

Dear Windmillfan, thank you very much for the indepth review as you have mentioned, it will indeed cost around £3million to get us up to an extremely high standard, but we are currently working our way through bedrooms with a lick of paint and new[ish] furniture. I have a few questions from your review though: 1]can you advise your name/room...

Go down on a bowls trip every year. Price is good but the rooms are a little dated. I had a blanket on my bed which had a name of the previous hotel and year was like 1950's. I mean for the price you cant go wrong, its only a place to rest my head for the night after drinking...
