We chose the Portland because of the close location to the the Eurotunnel. We arrived at the Portland around 5,o'clock in the afternoon and was surprised that there was no parking available around the hotel. When we made the booking we were advised that there would be plenty of parking. So we drove a few streets away to find a parking place... I stayed at The Portland for three nights. What a lovely hotel. So why 4/5. Its really because its the small things that made up for what the Hotel lacked. I booked the Hotel via internet. Felt I got good value for money with breakfast included. The room was on the top floor, Cosy clean and a little outdated. The... More

The hotel is clean and comfortable. We had a back room but front rooms will have a great sea view. We had to leave early but offered a takeaway breakfast which was very tasty. The adjoining Skuba bar has a great atmosphere, and karaoke the night we were there so that was an extra bonus!

My husband and I booked this hotel as a easy access to the EuroTunnel for a crossing early the next day. We wanted a reasonably priced overnight stay where we could lay our head and for £68 including breakfast and parking this was just that. Once we found a parking space (arrived 8 ish on a Saturday evening) we were... More

Room had old furnishings, bedding and towels. Bed very uncomfortable and old, it dipped in the middle. The shower was small but OK accept the water did not stay at the right temperature. Breakfast was not great at all. Small choice of hot food and 'fresh fruit' out on the side not looking so fresh. The tolet was broken but... More

We chose this because of its proximity to both the channel tunnel as well as the beach. The location is really excellent. Check-in and check-out was straightforward, although there is no reception and you have to find a waiter / bartender. The room and general décor in the hotel is very worn and run-down. Our room was as clean as... More

Booked for 2 nights with my parents , as we were attending a wedding in Folkestone. We didn't end up staying at this hotel , because it was that bad . The smell of stale smoke in both rooms on the top floor was terrible, the whole place needs a good revamp . The fact my room didn't have a... More

I had booked for two nights stay at The Portland Hotel for a wedding, taking advantage of an upper floor room deal. The week prior to checking in, I injured my knee and hip. I contacted the hotel about this, and they upgraded me to a ground floor room which was greatly appreciated. The room was spacious and very clean,... More

Wasn't expecting much due to price but it was excellent value for money. Good position and friendly check in at the bar. Clean and comfortable room with a good shower and was given a take away breakfast due to my early departure (5.30am). Would highly recommend it and stay again .
