Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We are frequent visitors to the Cowal Peninsula, and are always looking for restaurants serving good food. The Osborne is definitely one of our favourites (we have not stayed in the hotel, but eat there when we can; our most recent visit being in October 2020). The service and generally friendly demeanour of the owners and staff are always positive; you are always made welcome.

The food is wholesome, tasty and enjoyable. Favourites include the steaks, often with an excellent peppercorn sauce, and battered langoustines (which are absolutely delicious!). Deserts are also good. Prices for food, including drinks, are reasonable and compare well with other outlets in the area.

The ambience is set by the friendly, welcoming staff and the views across the Clyde from the conservatory dining room. Prior to the coronavirus restrictions the hotel provided numerous binoculars with which to watch seals, porpoises, sea birds and, of course, ships. Hopefully they will reinstate the binoculars once life returns to 'normal'. In good weather it is also possible to sit outside, taking in the fresh, sea air.

If there's one criticism in respect of the ambience it is that some of the paintings on display are often of questionable merit and do little to enhance the overall atmosphere. What might be more appropriate if original and quality artwork is unavailable would be copies of historic photographs of the Clyde and surrounding area. Completely filling the wall spaces with tastefully framed photographic prints would add interest and a sense of history relative to the location. Considering the Clyde's rich heritage in terms of shipbuilding, yachting and engineering, etc, such a permanent exhibition could become a major attraction. It would certainly add interest.

The Osborne is unpretentious; it is not trying to be something it isn't. This is to their credit, and why we give it five stars. We will return!

We decided to visit the Osborne for Saturday lunch and we were not dissspointed. We were given a really warm welcome and shown to our table by the window by the really friendly waitress. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and my husband said it was one of the best curries he's ever had. The tables are socially distanced with screens inbetween and sanitizer provided, and all staff wearing masks. Give yourself a wee treat and visit the Osborne you won't be disappointed.

From arrival to departure, Peter and his staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. My room was exactly what I needed for the 2 night stay, my bed was so comfortable with gorgeous views in the morning overlooking the water. The bar staff are friendly and the pub has a real local feel to it. And then there's the food! I have no words, we had a family event and got together for the meal in the evening as well as breakfast the next day. Again, nothing was too much trouble. The quality of the food is superb, the menu isn't huge (which is great for those of us who struggle with too much choice!) and the meals which make the cut are fantastic. Thank you Osbourne for being so welcoming of our family.

Lovely local B&B attached to bar & restaurant with beautiful views across the Clyde.
Attended a family function & stayed the night🥳🥳🥳. Buffet provided by owners, really nice food & they went out their way to make it a very enjoyable event.
Owners very welcoming & all staff incredible friendly.
Rooms immaculately tidy & bed really comfortable. The bar & restaurant very cosy & has a really chilled vibe. It would be a nice place to read a book with a drink or chat away with friends or partner. It would be a fab local..😁😁😁
Hop step & jump from Dunoon but you wouldn’t really want to venture far.

Just back from The Osborne, and can honestly say my wife and I had the best food we've had in ages.
We both had the 2 course Sunday roast dinner, which I was recommend by someone, and it was STUNNING....roasting hot, large portion, and tasted like a Real homemade meal, and served by a lovely, friendly waitress.
We will certainly be returning.....thank you.

I had lunch here last Monday with my work friends & young daughter. Amazing food made even better with being part of the eat out to help out government scheme, i couldn't believe how cheap our bill was for the quality of food and service we had received. We felt so safe with great covid measures and social distancing. The lovely lady who served us we recognised from Livingstons, so friendly and kind! I also had a fantastic birthday dinner here a couple of years ago with all my family. Nice to see the place is still doing a great job. Gorgeous views. We will be back!

The Osborne has been totally renovated by relatively new owners so some early adverse comments are no longer valid.
Superb views across the Clyde estuary to Wemyss Bay.
Rooms were tastefully decorated, furnished and well appointed.
Everywhere was spotlessly clean. All COVID precautions were being undertaken.
The restaurant was welcoming with outstanding views and with tables well separated by screens so seemed safe.
Food was delicious and well presented.
Owners and staff were extremely pleasant.
The Bar was particularly pleasant both as to ambiance and the two real ales available which I just had to sample!
I look forward to future visits.

Staying here for work and compelled to write a review…. Lovely little pub-come-restaurant with accommodation. The hotel may only be listed as a two star but food and the hospitality here are top notch and the Landlord, Pete, is a really sound Guyana knows the area. My room is clean and comfortable and overlooks the loch. Very happy to be staying here, and enjoying a bowl of cullen skink in the bar - a must try!
