A relaxed, friendly pub restaurant situated at the foot of the Wye Valley, The Two Rivers is a great place to eat out in Chepstow. Our carefully-chosen menu of British pub favourites is enhanced with interesting accompaniments and intriguing touches. And our rotisserie oven perfectly roasts Red Tractor farm-assured birds daily, achieving a crisp and tender perfection that lies at the heart of our most original dishes. Dive into colour and flavour as you enjoy an aromatically authentic rotisserie curry or keep it traditional with a juicy half or whole rotisserie chicken. Bringing the kids? They'll love the choice on our children's menu, which includes quality versions of pub favourites for the very small and plenty of fun dishes for the older chicks. Our 23-room lodge is comfortable, well-appointed and right next door. We look forward to welcoming you-for a drink, a meal, or the night.

We stayed for 2 nights in mid Sept 20 ahead of walking the Wye Valley Walk. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable, and there was plenty of parking, We used the restaurant for meals which were tasty and promptly served.

Lovely overnight stay. Arrived at lunchtime, ordered food which arrived reasonably quickly. Staff were very welcoming and all servers very friendly. Lunch was very reasonable, kids meals good sized portions, clearing tables was a little slow and spent drinks glasses were not removed when new drinks were brought out although this wasn’t a huge problem. Hotel room lovely and clean, just as described and brilliant value at £55 absolutely perfect for our overnight stay. Evening meal was nice if a little pricey for pub type food when competitors offer same quality 2 for 1, service a little slower than lunchtime but the pub was much busier. It was the hottest day of the year but the pub was exceptionally hot and the windows wouldn’t stay open which was a shame. Again took a very long time for the food to be cleared away and to be asked if we’d like deserts, son was disappointed at the size of the child’s brownie but at £1.25 I thought it was good value. Our first Marston’s experience and will definitely be looking to use them again next time we need a stop over. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for three nights. The room was spotless and although a little basic, perfectly adequate for a short stay to explore the Wye valley.

We had one evening meal here. The menu is the usual pub grub, arrived promptly, was well cooked and tasty. Staff were friendly and competent. Breakfasts were very good; we particularly liked being able to chose the style of breakfast, paying for either continental, cooked options or a full breakfast. Paying one price sometimes encourages having a full breakfast even if you don't really need it!

From start to finish this was one of the worst experiences we have had in a long time ! The best part of the meal was how friendly and apologetic the staff were and through no fault of their own.

We came as a family and having read previous reviews we were really looking forward to our evening meal.

The starters we ordered looked lovely but being told their were no chicken wings left was poor especially when you have a meal such as rotisserie which offers them as a side and there were none left.
The starters were ok nothing to get excited about really.

The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy at all but for some reason we had been there an hour and 40 mins and still hadn’t had our mains. We asked 3 times and we kept being told “we will check now” we had 3 children’s meals which hadn’t arrived which was appalling keeping them waiting for food was simply unacceptable! Finally 10 minutes later our food arrived and I would love to have said it was worth the wait but it was just shocking !

For such a delicate fish, cod should fall apart and flake away but the cod dish was solid with anaemic bacon on top of it, microwaved vegetables and some sort of sauce which was meant to be rarebit ?! Have you ever tried proper rarebit ?! It was quite frankly appalling and one of the worst experiences we have ever had. The fact that we had to wait so long and seeing other tables who came after us being served their meals over us and with children in tow it’s just not on. The kids were shattered and we had gone past hunger at that stage.

We cannot fault the staff they were amazing but the chef needs to be sacked .. If you can’t get something as simple as cod right then what hope have you for trying to run a successful business. This is a crucial time for businesses and surely you would want repeat custom but unfortunately for us we will never return and that’s a shame !

We were given 20% off our Bill as a means of apology which was something but it’s the whole experience that let us down and the food, when you spend a weekend away you want nice food and it spoils it and makes it a bad experience.

We had a fantastic stay to attend Chepstow Races to celebrate my husband, Richard Chinnock's 60th birthday on Saturday 24 February. I cannot praise the staff enough. Before the stay I needed to email The Two Rivers on several occasions to book a 2 night stay for my husband and myself, and a one night stay for another 4 rooms for family members joining us on the Saturday to attend the races. I always had my queries responded to quickly and efficiently and on arrival the lady who checked us in, I think she was called Sam, but am not entirely sure, apologies, was so helpful and efficient. The room was lovely and quiet and Sam was on duty all weekend and was always on hand to attend to us regarding drinks, meals or any queries we had. She patiently and helpfully booked in the 4 lots of guests on the Saturday evening although she was extremely busy and I cannot praise her enough. Thank you Sam you are an absolute credit to the venue and to Marston's.

The manager, Louis, was also helpful when I had to check a room booking with him both by email in advance, and on the Friday evening.

We enjoyed a 20% discount from the evening meal cost which was a great help on both the Friday and the Saturday and the team were all very helpful regarding some of the party's special dietary requirements both at the evening meal on Saturday 24, and breakfast on Sunday 25 February. Sincere thanks to all the team, hospitality and the catering for their attention and care. Both the breakfasts and evening meals were of great quality and everyone was served quickly even though the restaurant was always very busy.

The housekeeping team also looked after us very well and serviced our room and gave us clean towels even though we were only staying 2 nights, thank you to them also.

In summary we cannot fault the whole experience we enjoyed at The Two Rivers and plan to return in the future. Thank you to everyone!

We went to Chepstow with friends who were walking Offa’s Dyke path. This was a good location although there are some steep hills in Chepstow and we chose to drive to a restaurant on our second night.
The hotel is modern and just opposite the pub. They were very helpful in getting me a ground floor room. Our room was large and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable.
Breakfast was served in the pub dining room and was good although the variety of options was a little confusing.

A big shout out for the kitchen, and lounge staff, who efficiently looked after 14 of us, in a superb manner. The festive lunch was lovely, although could have been hotter. The turkey was plentiful. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Next year, leave out the crackers, as they were cheap & nasty, and could I recommend that you put a party hat at each sitting, rather than a cracker. We had pre-ordered, which made life easier for the kitchen, so service ran smoothly. Unfortunately one of our group hit a Tesco lorry on the roundabout at Aust, so didn't make it to the meet, but it was easy to remove a turkey and xmas pudding from the pre-order. Thank you all again, and I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas & New Year. :)

I booked 3 rooms at the Two Rivers to attend a wedding at a nearby venue. Staff at the Two rivers were extremely helpful that includes the cleaning staff who priorised our rooms for use before the wedding. The night porter was very supportive when we returned and was also served us with breakfast due to staff sicknesses. Eventhough she had worked a very long shift was upbeat and chatty asking is about the wedding. Would definitely stay here again

Really disappointed with this visit today. We ordered food at 1.55 and this wasn’t served to us until 2.45. Slow service and I wasn’t told of the delay, as would have gone somewhere else. Had to chase this up.

Food wasn’t the best lukewarm but no one checked to see if everything was ok with our meals, no apology for the delay. There were 3 of us, given 3 forks and 2 knives very hastily. So needed to find a knife and salt, pepper and vinegar. Wasn’t asked if we wanted any sauces, noticed the table opposite had sauces eventually given to them. Another table complained about the food, which the waitress apologised and said that she would take something off their bill but they left. No one bothered to check even after we had finished like the other table, overheard someone complaining about being overcharged for desserts. I didn’t get s copy of my receipt to check if my bill was correct.

The table by the side of us left at 2 pm and their table wasn’t cleared at all so we faced their dirty dishes during our meal. Dishes are probably still there.

Won’t be visiting any time soon.

One star given as we were allowed to change our booking slot.
