Detailed Reviews
We've just spent a lovely few days at The Three Tuns. It's a quaint, dog friendly little pub with lovely people, great food and we had a spacious room.
It's situated right by the castle and the river and even at this time of year we could appreciate how well placed it was. Especially for walking our dog.
Our room was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. We were provided with plenty of towels, toiletries and the room also had a kettle and microwave.
The breakfasts were really good and we enjoyed them every morning. It works by ordering the night before and choosing what time you'd like to eat and then just turn up and enjoy.
We would recommend this for anyone who wants to take their dog with them as our dog was welcomed by all. It would suit anyone who just wants a few days away in a friendly pub that provides good value for money. A big thanks Carl, Karen and Sue.

Booked an evening away for myself and hubby along with my sister and brother in law.
Perfect night away. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and provided all the details you need such as breakfast information codes for the doors and also offer extra keys for the room.
Pub has a lovely atmosphere and the rooms are very I keeping with the style of the building and it's surroundings. Drinks are extremely reasonable along with home made pork pies and scotch eggs at the bar for snacks.
Breakfast was fantastic quality and tasted as you would expect. Beautiful views and we will absolutely be back for another visit only this time we will book for 2 nights.
Keep doing what you do Three Tuns 😊

Firstly we stayed in room two and didn't mind the bed it did creak if you moved too much and you do sink into the mattress, but it didn't disturb our sleep.
We stayed for a few days the breakfast was great enough to keep you feed for the day.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, as this was our first trip to the area, our trip included a Sunday so we stayed for the roast, it was superb and great value for money ample portions, the drinks were also reasonable for the town seemed to be on the cheap side compared to places on the river.
Nice location next to the castle, easy access to town for walks along river and into Wye Valley. Lovely old building.
Only con en suite bathroom was a little small/tight.
Would recommend for value for money and

I see that several people already back in 2017 and 2018 mentioned that the bed in room 2 is unfit for purpose. Well, nothing has changed!
We stayed here last night for my husband's birthday and had a terrible bight's "sleep" as the bed slooped and the mattress is old and too soft, the bed shook and creaked every time you moved slightly waking us both up.
The room was cute and in a great location, the bathroom is extremely small and was very warm. After I asked we were given a table fan which helped a little. The bathroom had some nice shower gel and shaving gel but a used razor with hair on it.
The breakfast was nice though.

Having been in Cardiff to watch Wales beat Fiji we arrived in Chepstow to celebrate in style, on a dank and dreary Sunday evening. The bar of the Three Tuns was buzzing with people waiting for a band to start who were set up on the lower floor. The choice of beers from the Wye Valley and Butcombe breweries was superb, with prices to match. The staff and patrons were warm and friendly and we were immediately made to feel at home while the 'Albino Frogs' played their own superb mix of jazz to the delight of everyone in the room. Sadly, the Three Tunns had stopped serving food so we went to eat elsewhere (to a pub which rhymes with netherspoons) but soon returned for another pint of Butcombe which was easily as cheap as at the much larger chain pub. Our twin room ( which we've stayed in before) was spotlessly clean, homely, with pristine bedding and surely the most quaint room I've seen in any pub. Woke up to a superb breakfast with real butcher's bacon and 3 tea bags in the tea pot!!! Fantastic!!! Surely the best pub for many miles around... we'll be back!

We had the accessible room which was nice and large with a kitchen area including microwave and cooking rings so you could cater for yourself if required. Crockery was also provided. Breakfast table plus chaise longe and a good low bed. Easy walking distance from the station with good breakfast included in the room rate. The downsides are that the room is right next to the bar with thin walls so the live music is very clear through the walls as is the last orders bell. The shower was very good with good sized towels and plenty of plug sockets.

This town is a hidden gem, so close to everything and the motorway and it’s all too easy to drive on by, worth a trip/ holiday in its own right. This pub/ inn is a lovely, ancient building beautifully appointed with stylish period rooms and features. The pub is friendly and popular with the locals, the beer is well kept and tasty. The menu looked nice but they weren’t serving good in the evenings at the moment, loads of other pubs and restaurants within a few minutes easy walk. Car park next to the pub.
To top it all off the home cooked breakfast was just perfect, the lady knew what I was having every day which was a nice touch. I couldn’t stay the following weeks but diverted two of my colleagues there and they were equally impressed.

Staff are all so friendly. Track and trace in place at the front door and cleaning is obviously very thorough throughout. Halloumi fries were to die for. Chicken Goujons were REAL chicken served with the most amazing mustard mayo. We only had nibbles but will be sure to come back for a full course meal soon!

The Three Tuns is situated very centrally, next to a large car park and the castle and was easy to find. It's a picturesque old pub on the main street with a nice beer garden. We were in the building next to the pub and had a fairly large room with nice bathroom, the rooms had been renovated recently to a high standard. Tea and Nespresso coffee provided together with local cake and biscuits which was very welcome! Word of warning we had a room at the very top of the building up many stairs and were offered no help lugging my case up the many stairs! The room faced the main street and was a little noisy with the window open.
Breakfast was very good and was served in the pub and pre-ordered the night before.
