My wife and I stayed here on a weekend trip to Chepstow. It is exactly opposite the castle and next to the Museum. It has the feel of a 17th century hostel, which it was. The proprietor was friendly and welcoming and the room comfortable (good value at £60 per night including

We have been coming here for years when we go to the horse racing. A couple of years ago we had 3 rooms booked which were cancelled last minute. On this occasion the proprietor booked us rooms in the Marriot St Pierre so we were happy. This time we were told they were cancelling

Has the hotel changed hands in the last couple of years?
I don't believe so. We stayed 3 or 4 years back and it was a bit tired but our recent stay showed that its being transformed by the owners. We asked about the new breakfast room and tye answer we got suggested that its the same owner as before. If you're considering whether to stay based on a stay a few years back i think you'll be pleasantly surprised
