Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Happy with the site, the only downside - which is not the fault of the site - is that we ended with 2 sisters who played their radio loud, had voices like foghorns, got very drunk and laughed and talked very loudly until 1am. The owner tried quite hard to quieten them down about midnight but didn't really succeed. Toilet were clean, plenty of paper and hand sanitiser everywhere.

Lovely quiet cheap basic campsite. Clean toilets, fairly level, near to some great walks such as the Manifold Valley Trail. There was no shower, but at £7pp you get what you pay for! Glad it was dog friendly and they didn't allow large groups. No need to book as it's a large site. Would return!

I went here because it was meant to be quiet, it said no large groups and no noise after half nine. However there was one group of over ten young people being quite noisy and then a massive group of DoE, it didn't quiten down til about twelve. I had to move across the field to get to sleep but ended up right next to the road. Also no showers or hot water. I ended up moving campsites and did not get a refund as I paid in advance I texted and asked for a refund but got no answer. Now on a different campsite which costs less, is quieter, has better views, basic but has hot shower and water for £5 per night.

Lovely site. Very friendly gentleman who came round for your pitch fees. He was always busy working on bits to the site. Very clean toilets. Lovely outside bar behind the site. Lovely meals and great beer. Only a couple of miles from Hartington if you fancy a different pub / change of scenery.
Thank you so much for a great weekend, I would defiantly come again :-)

Love this campsite. Basic with toilets and sinks but is really well maintained and clean. Been a few times over the summer as it’s a great location with lots of walks and a great pub next to it. Great value

It was a field.
No hot water.
No electric hook up.
No ability to pay with a card.
And possibly the most obnoxious man who owned the field, know locally as waistcoat Willy, who was frankly just rude.
I’ll be voting with my feet next time.

There isn’t much here besides a portacabin with a loo and a cold tap (soap and toilet paper are provided), and an outside washing up area with a cold tap over a plastic trough to use as a sink and a wooden surface to set your things on.

Fires are allowed providing they are up off the ground and metal drums are provided to put your fires in/on. There are no showers, no hot water and no electrical hookups. It costs £5 per person per night and under 5s are free. There is no reception and you can just pitch up and the warden will come around at about 4pm each day to collect the money. Nobody is allowed to pitch up after 9pm. It costs the same amount to stay in a tent or a caravan but an awning costs an extra £1 per night.

The field is nice and big so, even for a weekend/week in August, we were able to pitch up away from others and weren’t disturbed by their noise. The south side of the field doesn’t have good drainage so I would avoid camping near the edges on that side in poor weather. The north side of the field has a steep drop of about 5 metres down towards the stream so young children would need to be supervised closely in that area.

We had a great weekend on the campsite with the family, as long as you know what to expect, there's not much more you could ask for in a campsite. The site's perfect for families, everyone was relatively quiet by 9pm, there was just a little chatter from people sitting around their camp fires so it's great if you want a decent night's sleep.

Overall, the site is pretty basic but in being so, quite peaceful, there's a small, clean toilet block and sink in the bottom corner providing you with the basics you need. The site provides you with fire stands so that you can bring your own BBQ/Fire pit meaning you can have a nice, relaxed night around the fire. With very little light pollution, it's a great place to lie back and watch the stars/planes overhead.

The only thing we didn't find was a shower on the site.

For £5 a night per person, it's very fairly priced for what you get.

Note: There's a pub just around the corner if you fancy a drink.

What a lovely place to relax for 3 days.hot and sunny in the fantastic peak district. Site clean, toilet and showers perfect, great wash facilities and grounds well looked after. One major problem was Yvonne who looked after the campsite, loud, brash,to the point, shouted at the kids constantly ,watched us pitch our awning for 3 hrs then told us we were facing the wrong way, then on the day before we left while we were eating approached us and told us to make sure we were of the site the next day by 11am wich we all ready new. Would love to go back but not while she works there.Sue the owner was lovely.
