Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Must say the wardens were very friendly. On arrival we chatted to the warden then checked in and found a pitch. There was nothing at all to complain about. We will visit again. We have booked into another motorhome and caravan club site... but after reading the reviews about the warden's bad attitude we will try and book into Buxton instead. Recommended without a doubt.
Currently a wrist band system is in operation for the use of the showers and toilet communal areas. Three people allowed in at one time. Place wristband on a peg outside and collect on exit. If there are 3 bands on the pegs wait your turn.
Check in from 1pm.

The site as such is well maintained, facilities are very well kept, staff is extremely friendly.
The downside is the lack of telephone- WiFI signal - due to its location within a quarry.
We purchased the campsite WiFi but this was not enough and phoning home to elderly relatives and/or WhatsApp was impossible.
Ordering taxis (which are available at discounted rates) was consequently also a challenge

Simple we love it here. This was a first time visit after it came
on recommendation.
In a scenic setting, staff polite and courteous, facilities in exemplary condition and a credit to the staff.
Mobile phone signal hit and miss but there is wifi at an extra charge.
Pitches spacious with different type pitches from fully serviced to basic. We had a basic and it was plenty for us.
Only down side the weather but they can't help that haha

Stayed here for 3 nights (should of been 4) and upon arrival was pleasantly surprised about how nice the site was in a quarry surrounded by amazing scenery. Staff where friendly. However the 3 band system for the toilets/showers DOES NOT WORK! The idea is that you place a band outside when using the facilities thus only allowing 3 people in the block at any one time, however people forget to remove their bands and you can be stood waiting for 15 minutes for the toilet/shower with only 1 or 2 people inside.
It's a ridiculous system and clearly doesnt work. The toilet block is massive and I see no reason why 3 people in both the toilets and showers couldnt be allowed, social distancing could still easily happen. It was quite frustrating especially with 2 children therefore we left a day early (also the weather was terrible...no ones fault obviously!) Also the phone signal was poor and while that isnt the camp sites fault I feel caravan club members should receive some free wifi while paying for a subscription especially this year that we havent really been able to utilise.

Pleasant site and the walk to Buxton is nice but very steep down all the way to the outskirts of Buxton.
A very big site for only one place to put rubbish. Next to the reception / entrance.
Checked in and told the lady on reception our niece was on her way, she had booked a pitch and paid in advance and was about 10 mins behind us. We were told in no uncertain terms that we were not allowed to save her a pitch. Unbelievable! It wasn’t a problem as there were plenty of pitches but how ridiculous when she had already paid !
The toilet blocks are closed for cleaning at about 10am, just when people want to use them ! If you’re on holiday, how nice to sit with a cuppa then go for a shower. Surely later in the day is the quiet time.
The staff obviously feel disgruntled having to open and lock the gate to the Country Park. I mentioned to one of the staff at 10 to 8pm that there was still a motorhome parked up in there and he said it was nothing to do with the site and didn’t know why they had to deal with the gate. He was very serious when he said they would be locked in. Maybe the staff have been there too long or is it coming to the end of the season? Not sure.
Won’t be returning, decided we prefer smaller more friendly sites.
Ps yes we noticed lots of weeds growing through the gravel too.

Room Tip: Fine if you don’t mind all the strict rules, a long walk to the dustbins and “jobsworth” staff.

We stayed here for a week, it’s a nice clean site and the staff were friendly and helpful.
I had 2 issues.
1. The staff clean the toilet and shower block at 10am which is a busy time. Surely like other sites this clean could be carried out at a quite time.
2. The phone signal and 4g coverage is poor so I decided to pay for the club Wi-Fi. This was equally poor and a complete waste of money. I only wanted to use Wi-Fi for checking emails and making calls, not for streaming.

Spent the weekend (17/5/24 to 19/5/24) at Buxton CMC site
Upon arrival the wardens were first class, welcoming us at the gate and letting us choose our own pitch on site. The site was immaculate with every pitch in great condition. The amenities were immaculate and nothing was too much trouble when any questions were asked.
The Pizza (Friday) and Chippy (Saturday) vans were great and good food as well.
It is a great base to explore Buxton and surrounding areas with some great woodland all around the site.
There is a car park just outside the site if, as we did, pack up before the 12 noon deadline and decide to walk the 3km into Buxton through the Grin Law woodland.
This is possibly one of the best CMC sites we have visited!

This is a fantastic site, location is beautiful, site very well kept and the pitches are huge, plenty of room. The wardens are all friendly and helpful and very welcoming. I have seen lots of comments regarding tv signal and mobile phone signal, tv was not an issue for us as they have a booster you just need an extended tv lead or ask at reception. For mobile phone I am with 3 and had plenty coverage and 4G, my husband is O2 and had none. There is however a pay phone on site or I’m sure the staff will help with taxis etc. I would highly recommend this site, right next door to plenty of dog walks in the county park which is beautiful. Lovely area plenty to see and do.

Great location and the facilities are lovely having been revamped relatively recently.

I have seen others complain about the rubbish now being in a central location which is in our experience a pretty standard approach for many CAMC and CCC sites.

The site location is well placed gor travelling to locations like Dovedale and Bakewell.

Must confess the walk through the country park to Pooles Cavern and town was a bit more hard going than we expected but lovely all the same.

Visited Buxton site last week, whatever you do don't arrive before one o'clock unfortunately we arrived at 12:55 and the jobsworth warden wanted us to turn around and go back out absolutely fanatical about turning up at 1:00 p.m.
No bins for rubbish in designated areas so we had to carry our rubbish from bottom of sight to the entrance to dispose of. so basically doing the wardens job when they've got all the latest equipment i.e compact tractor with trailer. but at least they put their hand up when you are struggling with your rubbish as you go by them sitting in their caravans on their free pitches. This is what you get when the wardens run the site for their convenience and not the members.
What will we be asked to do next to clean the toilet blocks?
1 million members= £69 per year membership do the maths.
