My husband and I, together with my sister and her husband, stayed at The Farmhouse in July this year.
Steve was on hand to welcome us and to show us the facilities in the cottage, which is part of a conversion of farm buliding in a stunning location.
The cottages cater for children without being designed specifically around their needs.
The Farmhouse is superbly ( and stylishly ) decorated, well equipped and very comfortable.
A small 'honesty' store is a well thought out bonus.
While the rest of the country was basking in sunny weather during our stay, this particular corner of Derbyshire certainly wasn't and the rooms, apart from the sitting room with log burner and the snug with electric heater, were on the cool side.
Try the hot tub - but be aware that it takes a lot longer to heat to an acceptable level than is indicated in the instruction folder - especially if the ambient temperature is cool.
We also had a visit from the well being company which was excellent.
We will almost certainly make a return visit.

My husband and daughter and I stayed in Elliot cottage over the February half term. It was so lovely, spotless and full of gorgeous touches like a soda stream and Nespresso. The hosts had left happy birthday balloons and snacks (my husband's birthday, so kind) and had even written our names in scrabble pieces on the fridge.
The farm itself is great with a fab playroom with lots to do, and most importantly the most ridiculously lovely animals, especially the alpacas and the overgrown lambs. You can buy home cooked meals too and all sorts of other things in a separate room.
Hosts are very welcoming and take the kids to feed the animals every morning. They also very kindly picked us up from the pub one night doing two drives for both us and our friends staying near by.
Lots to do in the area, great walks, delicious pubs and restaurants. We took the kids horse riding which was ace, Buxton caves and all sorts of other delights.
Would 100% come back any time

Stayed in Lomas Cottage with our 9 month old. They had everything you need for the baby, from sterilisers and travel cots to the little touches such as baby towels and a plastic baby bowls. Great walks from the front door and really helpful hosts. Nice pubs in walking distance, ready prepared meals in the freezer to buy or all the cooking stuff you need to cook for yourself. Tranquil and relaxing setting. Will go back next year.

We celebrated my 80th birthday at Wheeldon Trees at the beginning of July 2021. We rented five luxurious cottages and invited our family. It was a wonderful weekend and we all enjoyed it.
Steve was most helpful. We had to eat outside owing to Covid restrictions, Steve selected a lovely spot with views of the valley and brought out tables for us. Table cloths were supplied, and we were able to use the cooking facilities, the fridge, crockery and cutlery all from the well equipped communal Long Room.
What a wonderful venue for a family celebration.

We stayed here during February half term, welcomed by storm Dennis! Despite the weather we had a wonderful time, in no small part due to the venue.
We could not fault the cottage or the team working there.
Every detail is thought about to make your stay comfortable and pleasant; home cooked meals available to purchase, laundry room on site, stair gates, baby chairs, slow cooker, you name it they've got it. Nothing is too much trouble!
You can feed the alpacas, sheep, rabbits, chickens and ducks in the mornings, the whole farm is eco friendly and what a location! The views are incredible, often gazed upon from inside our cosy cottage 😆⛈🌬
We would not hesitate to recommend Wheeldon trees to anyone and would love to go back, thank you.

Stayed in Elliott Cottage in a group of four for a few days on a spring break. Everything here had been planned out so well, with extra touches like well stocked kitchen accessories, white room toiletries, and lovely soft towels leading to a better than your average stay away from home.
We walked to the nearby hostelry and met other friends and it was a relaxing break.
Welcome pack left in the cottage was a lovely touch, and we found the owners to be very welcoming and helpful.

We stayed at the Farmhouse for a three day family reunion at the end of September and we could not have been happier with the: accommodation, location, welcome and facilities. The Farmhouse is the largest of the cottages at Wheeldon Trees and it was absolutely stunning. Every detail had been thought about in terms of the decor and amenities - it was pure luxury!
The cottage is in a quiet, secluded area with stunning views across the Peak District and this just added to the sense of beauty and that feeling of being away from it all. (I had forgotten how beautiful the Peak District is!)
We visited Bakewell and the stunning Chatsworth Estate during our stay (both less than thirty minutes away) and would happily have stayed for longer exploring the area.
Steve and Hazel have clearly thought about everything including: the ‘Honesty Shop’, laundry facilities, family games room, electric bikes, EV charging point, reduced price tickets for the Chatsworth Estate and the welcome bag of goodies!
It is definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed in and we hope to return again at some point in the near future.

This was my third stay in five years at Wheeldon Trees. It is under new ownership and there have been some noticeable small changes that make the experience even better. It has gone from five stars to five stars plus in my humble opinion. Host Steve went the extra mile to make my stay really comfortable and pleasant. The cottage was full of characterful charm, with wood beams and partially exposed old stone walls. The cleanliness, quality fittings, location, peaceful ambience, views and local walks all make Wheeldon Trees stand out. I will be back again, without doubt.

To echo many of the other reviews, this place is fabulous! The hosts create such a relaxing atmosphere in a gorgeous part of the peak district. Any signage is written in such a lovely, light hearted way - none of the usual "don't do this', 'don't do that' etc.
There's an honesty shop with a good range of essentials, plus on arrival there was milk, eggs, butter plus other bits in the cottage. The actual accommodation was perfect with high end touches such as white company accessories, Joseph and Joseph in the kitchen. To be honest, it felt more like a hotel in many ways with all the extra touches. There is also a store with items to borrow such as baby gates, extra covers, etc - anything you can think of which you might need during your stay.
We went with our dog and they were massively dog friendly - not a place which only 'tolerates' dogs. There is a field where the pupper can be off lead. Also, our place (Lomas) had a small outside area, front and back, which was gated, with table and chairs out back.
Such an amazing find and we look forward to returning! Thank you!

We stayed in a one bed cottage at Wheeldon Trees for one week. The cottage and furnishings were superb - well thought out, top quality and more than we expected. The welcome pack included the things that meant we could relax as soon as we walked through the door - teabags, coffee, milk butter etc., as well as treats which were very much enjoyed later (wine, chocs etc). The location is ideal, being quiet but very close to several lovely towns and villages, so we never had to travel too far for a day out or food. The onside honesty shop was great; treats such as ice cream, snacks, pizza plus essentials such as milk. But little extras such as jams, condiments and even fruit were on the house, which made us feel really looked after.
The EV charger was a god send though. And well used by several guests. Steve and Hazel could not be more helpful and went out of their way to ensure we were looked after.
We took advantage of the discounted tickets to Chatsworth House available through our hosts, saving us £10. Really recommend this. Although the weather was pants during our week, the cottage was so comfortable that we were able to fully relax there and enjoy sometime indoors watching Netflix and sampling the local cheeses and wine.
One restaurant to recommend is The Seafood Cave and Grill in Matlock Bath. An gem hidden in the main street between the many fish and chip shops.... superb, high quality fish dishes, and a fair few meat ones. Best meals we have had in a varying time.
So, all in all, we highly recommend Wheeldon Trees.
