Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for one night, taking two huts for the night. A small selection of nicely appointed huts, all spread out around the working farm (they train race horses) makes for a very peaceful and relaxed environment. The owners are really welcoming, taking our daughters to see the horses and help feed the pigs within minutes of arriving. A really nice 20 min walk along the river leads you to a local pub, ideal for a garden pint. Amenities are excellent, we made thorough use of the bbq, chimnia and balcony and all enjoyed a really relaxed evening.

Just back from a two night stay , staying in the Orchard Hut . Absolutely beautiful . Spotlessly clean , very comfortable bed and surprisingly spacious . Had everything you needed and the fresh milk, orange juice and biscuits were a nice touch . Also provided tea , coffee , sugar and cereals so breakfast was easy ! The compostable loo was very clean and the African style shower was very quirky. A non stop supply of hot water and good pressure which surprised me. I was very lucky with the weather so spent most of the time walking (plenty of lovely walks from the doorstep ) or lying in the hammock reading. Enzo the cockerpoo also had a great time , swimming in the river , trying to chase chickens and particularly snoozing in the hammock !! I only wish we had stayed for longer but will definitely be back ! A travesty that HS2 may claim this beautiful landscape . Hopefully they will run out of money and many more people will get to experience the tranquility and the hospitality of Pauline and her husband .

I wanted to take my husband somewhere to relax and unwind and this was the perfect place! On arrival we were given fresh OJ, Milk and Biscuits which was a lovely touch. Bed and bedding was soft and comfortable and we enjoyed the wood burner with the weather being a bit chilly! Being hardy campers we were not at all phased by the outside long drop toilet and the shower was amazing, so warm!! We took a lovely walk along to The Griffin in Chipping Warden (which allows dogs) for a pint the first night and then a delightful stroll to the Three Conies in Thorpe Mandeville (also takes dogs) for a perfect Saturday lunch. All in all a weekend that ticks all the boxes for relaxation, thank you!

We booked two nights in the Stable Shepherd Hut. We arrived late in the evening and struggled getting in the gate. Make sure you get the gate code well in advance of your arrival if you come in after 7pm. We did eventually get in & when we did we were not disappointed. The stable hut was away from everything with views over a field, it had 1 double & 1 single bed, a little table, under counter fridge & gas BBQ outside. We had lovely weather during our stay which made it just perfect. If the weather is bad it may not be quite so appealing however! There is a small outhouse a few yards away with a long drop style loo & shower. The hut is on a farm, kids enjoyed seeing the horses & feeding the pigs! There are a couple of other accommodation units on the farm but we did not see them. We ordered a breakfast hamper for our first morning and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and freshness of the ingredients... Freshly squeezed orange juice, milk in a glass bottle, bacon, Cumberland sausages, fruit, bread, free range eggs etc... All in all a great escape away from all the hustle and bustle. A place where you can stargaze at night & get back to nature... a step up from camping.

We stayed for one night in the tree tent located at blackgrounds farm. The tree tent is situated close to the farm but feels lovely and secluded and the views are great. The tree tent has a flap to lift up to view the stars from if you are lucky enough for it to be clear. The tree tent is in its own private area where you can park and also has a fire pit, a small gas stove and a box of utensils that may be needed during the stay. The tree tent has its own toilet and there is a shower a short walk away which looked very clean. We walked to the griffin inn for lunch which was nice and the walk was lovely too through the countryside with directions provided in a welcome pack. All in all a great relaxing and peaceful stay

What an amazing, heavely place to stay. An original Shepherds Hut, tastefully decorated with all the amenities you need to 'drop out' for a while. Various huts at the farm but ours was situated right by the river, with easy access for a swim - it was cold!!! Not overlooked at all and surrounded by horses and nature. Your own dunny and outside shower, BBQ & firepit. Able to purchase various hampers at very reasonable prices. Dogs allowed as long as well-behaved. Very little or no signal for mobiles and take books, magazines etc as no TV either - perfect. Welcome to wander around the farm looking at all the animals and our hosts were wonderful - so welcoming & friendly. We will be returning asap
