Lovely building and could be something special. Gone downhill. Food was nice but overpriced. Majority of staff were nice, except the older small women with dark hair and glasses, very rude and needs to learn how to crack a smile. The customers shouldn’t feel unwanted there. I wouldn’t waste your time visiting here much nice places with better hospitality around.
It can be no fun working in a hotel at the moment, one minute you have to close, then open and as I write this after a stay last weekend, they are in to Tier 4 and the Christmas Tree might as well come down as they will close at midnight Christmas Day I guess. I have stayed at and reviewed this hotel many times and it has never disappointed. OK so this stay was not as good previous ones but this was not their fault it is just that when things are stripped back because of Covid the comfort is not as is might be. Credit though to the staff who were without exception very cheerful and accommodating in what for them must be difficult times. Food was very good and I believe the move away from a two or three course to an a la carte is a wise move. I look forward to returning to Wroxton in happier times for us all.…
Lovely peaceful location close to Banbury. Cosy room with beautifully comfortable bed. Breakfast choice good, not a lengthy menu, a handful of good options to decide between. Copious amount of coffee received for one person! Ideal, as we got to linger in the quirky dining area for longer. Shall definitely return.
A lovely stop and a short hop to Banbury , room was very nice and well decorated , I had no toiletries which I thought was odd but always have some in my bag . The staff were excellent with one exception . It is a strange time with limited guests so atmosphere is not what you would normally experience, the bar and communal areas were quite cold but restaurant warmer , the food was good but the menu limited , the gammon steak was a little thin and more like a large bit of back bacon but otherwise nice . Breakfast lovely and cooked to order . I was looking to leave early and rang the reception phone and obviously woke someone up at 6:30 and was told in a sleepy voice that he didn't do bills and I would have to wait till 7 . No other issues and lovely hotel, lovely staff , a great place o stay…
Stayed recently, for a 3 night short break, during these difficult times. The location was exactly what I was looking for, being in the country, away from the crowds, with lots of lovely Oxfordshire villages to explore. If you stay at this hotel do not miss exploring the village of Wroxton which is beautiful. The weather was fantastic but unfortunately it had been very wet during the days before I arrived meaning that many footpaths in the area were too muddy for walking. I must return for a longer stay in drier weather as it’s an area that I need to explore. Very good executive room in the newer part of the hotel. Really quiet, at the end, on the back overlooking the car park. My room was very comfortable and was warm enough with the portable heater supplied, but the bathroom was a bit cool as were some other parts of the hotel. I felt very safe here with the Covid precautions well in place throughout the hotel. It is obviously, under normal circumstances an excellent hotel, but it did seem strange being so quiet with very few guests and not many staff. The staff were all doing a very good job considering the circumstances. They were very friendly and helpful and I was made to feel extremely welcome. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order. The menu for dinner was a bit limited and although the choices that I had from the specials board were excellent, those from the standard bar menu were more average. I definitely hope to return again soon to enjoy another stay at this lovely hotel in more normal circumstances. I didn’t realise this part of Oxfordshire was so beautiful and I would like to walk some of the footpaths which on this visit were too muddy. …
