Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Only one member of staff on duty for the whole hotel when we arrived ,she was lovely and tried her best .The reception looked stark bare and unwelcoming as did the rest of the ground floor . The bar was not open and the restaurant looked as if there had been an event which hadn’t been cleaned up. The hotel was very tatty with scuffed peeling paintwork, the carpet threadbare in places and dirty. There were unpleasant stains on the furniture. No hairdryer in the room, no tea ,coffee or mugs . The towels were threadbare ,the television didn’t work, nor did the Wi Fi. It is on a main road by traffic lights and the noise is awful and the heating on full blast . It has much more in keeping with a poor hostel than a hotel and it is £100 a night.

Had booked elsewhere but was cancelled on last minute so booked in here. At 120 something pounds a night i was outraged. The room had a shower which you could only use if kneeling down and ranged from scalding to freezing. The toilet paper was that super thin awful stuff. The bed was 2 singles together that kept sliding apart and the sheet wasnt fitted so you ended up on matress which is hardly hygenic. They were fairly comfortable though. The room was just generally very run down, grubby and substandard. There was a kettle but no actual cups or tea and coffee supplies. When we went to reception we were told they had initially cancelled bookings to house refugees but when the contract wasnt signed they opened again but nothing was ready hence the lack of tea and coffee. I appreciate it must be hard opening with no notice and limited staff and feel for the staff but management should not open if not ready. Especially charging £120 a night for an unserviced room. I would say this was 1 star maybe 1 and a half at a push. The receptionist was lovely though and its not too bad as a location.

So I stayed here 2 night die to work commitments. First impressions was OK as entered hotel. Stood on 1st step to my room and the creaked. As I walked through the corridors it looked like a jail - dark grey. Scrapes, paint missing. Just looked run down! Floorboards creaked all the way yo my room. Room was a box room. 2 coat hangers for a 2 person stay room is not getting anyone very far! Tea,sugar, coffee all comes in a zip lock bag. No tea bags! 1 cup again for a 2 person stay not good. 1 shower gel, 1 cup in bathroom, one towel??? Shower was disgusting. You getting the picture?? Window security wire is broke And so is the other windows I could see that were open! Security breach right there. The mattress when you sit on it goes really flat , no comfortable at all. Kettle in room had not been wiped down as it was covered in splash marks. Nothing was covid friendly to say room had been sanitised. Breakfast - all tea sugar and coffee in a bag again. Breakfast was rubbish. The receptionist is also the cook ?? All night on the first night was banging doors, shouting and running up and down the corridor. 2nd night a wedding . Smoke coming up into the room from the people outside smoking. The wedding party out side shouting all night. Vibration on music through the floor. And again people banging their doors in and out . ... never again. To top it all off the fire alarm went off. When I went to see what it was they said its OK its the business centre. A building not attached to hotel. Not very friendly staff! Staff not very friendly. I even had to come back down from my room to ask about breakfast. I don't know how you even get 3 stars. Disappointed so much in people and the hospitality industry if this is the standards. If you make your entrance look lovely then invest in your rooms and practice covid rules.!

I found the management here to be unresponsive and dismissive of reasonable requests. I would not recommend staying here unless you enjoy people treating you rudely. Nearby Oaklands Hotel is only 2 stars and a damn sight cheaper, I'd go there rather than come back here.
