Was lovely and clean and tidy for the price, good value for money but the walls were majorly paper thin. We heard a knock on the door at 9:30am and it was housekeeping she was knocking on room number 104 and we were in 105 and we were having a full on conversation through a wall whilst I was lying in bed, could hear each other clear as day!. Also loud banging door slamming into the early hours and then stopped until about 8am and started banging again, maybe if we were in a different room it wouldn’t have been so bad, sleep quality not so great, everything else was okay.

We had to stay here due to being put here by council this hotel is shocking and the customer service is very lacking. We walked in after check in time to be told our rooms weren't ready they were being cleaned. Cleaner is a joke we walked into a room covered in mould and dirty bathroom we had to have 2 rooms as was 5 of us so council paid for 2 rooms. Our shower was broken and couldn't open windows manager came in opened windows and said would sort issues... Issues were not sorted we spent our own money on cleaning mould away and fixing the shower head. They gave our 2nd room to another guest without even informing us we were using it for the shower as our big room was broken and not very good for kids to use. The language of some of the staff was disgusting whenever we had an issue the person on reception had no clue and just said I can text management to which no one ever replied. The hotel is a shambles best thing for it is to be closed it is riddled with damp and mould and silverfish. If we had a choice we wouldn't have stayed but we have to go where council says.

Don’t stay here as this hotel is run down dirty and in need of a complete refurbishment.
The deserted corridor with scruffy looking carpet leading from the car park tells you all you need to know. Beware all who ever here!!
There is no food, there is no bar there was but one poor young lad on reception who did his best.
The layout of the hotel is dated.
The room was filthy so much dust
The king size double bed has a poorly fitting sheet.
In truth if this is owned by Best Western they better lay out some serious refurbishment cash.
The best thing was, we had to leave early the next morning.
Except for all the door banging, shouting talking loud and general noise at 1.30,2.30 and 4.30 am from the other so called guests
This hotel was cheap and the owner has never stayed in it because if he had he would do the right thing and close it down.

Clean and comfortable room and a fair price for twin bed & breakfast. Comfy beds so slept well and wifi was good in our room. Parts of the hotel we saw were clean and staff were friendly and helpful. A few niggles in the room (Hennessey) were that the private passage way into the room had 3 windows but no curtains so, despite blackout curtains on the window in the room, as soon as the sun came up light from the passage streamed into the room;.a broken towel rail and a shower screen which wouldn't extend so water leaked on to the floor. Breakfast was disappointing. Arrived at 9.45 when it finishes at 11am on Sunday and there was no pastries or croissants left and, amazingly, no bread (really?!). Frozen bread did eventually materialise for toasting but no good at all for my daughter's sausage sandwich so she left breakfast hungry given she couldn't have the croissant she was looking forward to either. We will come back again (as it is very convenient for visiting my son) but will be bringing our own bread for breakfast next time, just to be on the safe side.

Stayed to attend a local baby shower approx 5 mins away.
Room was unclean, used red disposable razor in shower next to soap holder covered in someones hair.
Holes in the curtains
Dirty sink

Weren’t expecting anything special, just a clean room for a cheap local stop before getting back on the motorway.

As we arrived around 6/7pm and had to be back out by 8pm we advised the reception staff before leaving back out - we were advised a manager would be in contact, there was no offer to send someone to the room, no exchange of room offered.

We arrived back early hours the following morning and nothing had been done, we had to then checkout to go to Manchester and there was no discussion by staff upon leaving.

From Saturday to Wednesday afternoon no call - so I called the hotel to chase the matter up, to which the owner was extremely vile, no acknowledgement of the issue, continued to interrogate me and ask questions but proceed to cut me off mid sentence. He kept advising there would be no refund - yet I had not requested a refund the entire call, I asked for acknowledgment, I wanted a sincere apology.

Completely incapable of providing basic customer service.

Unhygienic and dirty.

Keep the £60 I’m more than okay.

Never again.

Our room was not pleasant in any way, and did not resemble the images shown on your website, which could be seen as a mis-representation of your hotel. Below is a list of the issues we had to endure:-

1. All the walls in the room were very grubby, hand marks, grease marks, liquid marks everywhere and dents from looked like it had been hit with a hammer. This was so bad that you did not want to even touch the walls. The whole of the paintwork was grubby, even on the door and skirting boards the paint was chipped and flaky and looked like it had never been cleaned at all.
2. There was a bad mouldy, damp musty smell to the room that was still present even with the windows open.
3. Curtains by the window had stains on them and one was longer than other.
4. We could not get 1 channel to work properly on the TV.
5. Smoke alarm above door was disconnected and case missing, breaching a fire risk regulation.
6. Shaving light in the bathroom did not work.
7. Bathroom sink kept blocking.
8. Shower door was covered in mould at bottom.
9. Light over dressing table did not work and fitting was loose, again posing a health & safety risk
10. Edging on dressing table had come away.

To charge £79 for this room is totally unacceptable, it was not even worth £20. I tried to complain to your night time manager but this seem to fall on deaf ears.
If this was my hotel I would be very embarrassed to have 1 person staying given the condition of the hotel.

I have stayed in some bad places in my time but this is another level of bad.
When we arrived it was evident there was some work being done in the dining area. That’s fine. Start going up the stairs to the hotel and it’s another story. Plaster coming off the walls, holes in the wall, broken lift out of action and ladies toilets out of order.
Our room…well you can see from the pictures. Black and yellow and sporous mould in the bathroom. The bathroom door was a complete state, had no handle and looked like someone had previously kicked it in.
We spoke to the hotel and they said to contact Expedia who we had booked with. Expedia were useless and said we could have £25 refund in vouchers. We had a show to go to so went out and tried to console ourselves that we were just staying for one night.
When we returned to the hotel it was unbearable. There was a function room directly underneath us with a really loud party. The base of the music was causing the whole room to vibrate! This was at 9.45am. We spoke to the hotel and Expedia. Expedia said wait 3-4 days for a response from them. The hotel said the party would be done by 10.15pm. We waited till 10.30 and it was no better and we were exhausted so decided to leave.
Do not stay here - you would have a better time sleeping in your car.

room was cold. no heating available. sheets had been used. sheet was covering a rather dubious mattress. hotel is being refurbished but this seems to have been going on for years and seems to be used as an excuse for everything. sign at the desk saying a £50 deposit required as people are smoking in the rooms seemed to sum up the level of clientele the hotel normally attracts. I spoke with the man on the desk who could not or would not help. He said you need to speak to the manager but the manager only communicates through e-mail. I emailed whilst at reception and two weeks later I have not had a reply. I have written again today and decided to write this review to warn others. A friend of mine was also staying in the hotel and he complained of the room stinking of smoke plus on his window ledge he discovered hundreds of cigarette butts. AVOID THIS HOTEL! I only gave 1 star because you can't give none.

Checked out a day early due to disturbed two nights sleep, doors slamming in corridors, noise from other rooms from drunken residents. Saturday night woken at 1am,2am,3am, 4am from banging doors and shouting. Sunday night similar.
Room 203: Complained about TV not working three times, no action - person on reception said having problems with aerial? didn't check room. Towel rail wobbly on wall, two lights out over sink and desk. Door to hanging area wouldn't close .
Corridor carpets tatty and smelly, rip on top of stair carpets, lift shabby. Place smelled damp.
Inept apology on way out, no offer of refund or recompense.
"Best Western" .... more like worst western!!!
