Stylish accommodation in the heart of Tavistock. Pocket sprung mattresses and high quality linens in tastefully decorated en-suite rooms overlooking the town. Great, locally sourced breakfast meats and an extensive breakfast menu. Very well located for country walks or business trips. Tavistock also has many great restaurants to choose from. Rockmount offers accommodation just yards from the historic town centre. All of our bedrooms have their own en-suite bathrooms fitted with great showers and some with the addition of a bath. We have king-size beds as a minimum, with AppleTv, iPads, digital TV, WiFi, Nespresso machines and a desk in each of our rooms, we're sure you'll find it a great place to stay for work or pleasure. We also have free off road parking and porter service. Please note that some of our rooms are small but perfectly formed and great for a short stay. Our Apartment and Super king are much more generous.

Detailed Reviews
Accommodation in Tavistock tends to mean the old established hotel in the town centre but the Rockmount is a very viable alternative in more ways than one. It’s set up on the Drake Street hill leading out of town, not hard to find, well signposted and with ample parking out front. Host Tony is obliging and helpful (even coming out early on a frosty morning to help de-ice car windscreens). Rooms are a little short on space but what there is has been cleverly maximised, with original touches such as large drawers below the bed that will take even a large suitcase. Great bedside reading lamps (a rarity these days!), all necessary amenities artfully contained in a corner unit, and a smart functional bathroom. Excellent place.

We stayed here in December 2020 in between Christmas and New Year. We were shown to our room which was lovely, a large bathroom with another room off the bathroom with hanging space, fridge and ironing board.
The room was well equipped plenty for our stay, with a very comfortable bed.
We had breakfast in the Annex , we chose the tapas inspired take on an English breakfast with coffee and orange juice. Which was very nice.
We would definately recommend a stay here.
Its in a good location for exploring Tavistock.
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming throught out our stay.

We stayed at The Rockmount for one night as a stopover on our way to Falmouth and we loved it here.
The hotel is situated up a hill a short walk from Tavistock town centre, just before the Tavistock Viaduct. There is a small car park at the entrance which is reserved for residents only.
We were greeted by Tony the owner as soon as we arrived and he showed us up to the room which was immaculate, with coffee machine and tea making facilities and it also had Sky TV, the bed was large and comfortable, and we both had a decent nights sleep.
The bar / restaurant area (The Annexe) was very busy with customers (always a good sign) so luckily we had pre-booked a table when booking our stay.
The restaurant food is Tapas with a variety of small dishes which you can choose as many as you like, we shared six dishes, all of which were very nice. The service was excellent and Ryan was especially attentive when we were ordering our meal and drinks.
The cooked breakfast was also very nice, everything was fresh and hot! including the baked beans (my wife is very fussy when it comes to baked beans - they have to be piping hot, haha).
This place wasn't overly expensive, we have paid a lot more money at other hotels which were nowhere near as nice and we would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Tavistock.

The Rockmount is a B&B with a Boutique hotel vibe. The detail given to the design of the rooms are perfect, and it goes without saying that the cleanliness is impeccable. Each room has all the modern furnishings you would want i.e. Apple TV, Netflix, Amazon Echo. The Annex is a great addition to the property. The multi-purpose space is perfect for those that need a space to work/read (like i did) or those who just need a space to chill. Tony and Pip are fantastic hosts!! They go out of their way to help you and add extra touches to make your stay memorable. With free guest parking and being located 2 mins walk from the main town area, you have everything you need for a nice stay.

Excellent place with parking, 5 minute walk to town, well equipped rooms and the best TV size and channel selection I have ever seen. The room was perfect with us with a good sized bathroom and an area for ironing making tea etc. We booked with no breakfast, but it is available from the great restaurant underneath, which has out door terracing. We did eat there in the evening, had some Tapas which was excellent washed down with a very reasonably priced bottle of wine. The manager is very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend the Rockmount and we will be back.

The Rockmount and its associated eatery The Annex is a must if accommodation and relaxed dining is required. This was our first visit to both establishments and we were very impressed by the standards of the accommodation, food, bar facilities and not least by the genuine welcome offered by the owners. Nothing was too much trouble and the accommodation the best we have experienced in Tavistock over the years we have been visiting friends in the town. Well worth a visit by locals but you will need to book as the Annex is particularly popular for breakfast, light meals and tapas. Residents parking on site is an extra plus.

I stayed in Rockmount back in April 2020 with group of colleagues. The accommodation is very spacious and decorated to very high quality standards. I really loved the large shower, the comfortable bed and the soft cotton towels after a long day's meeting. The setting of Rockmount provides comfort and privacy, it's perfect for business visits but if you are looking for a great holiday stay you will not be disappointed as the views are stunning. It's located in quieter end of Tavistock within a short walking distance to beautiful market town facilities, pubs and restaurants so it was a winner for us.
The rooms are well equipped and spotlessly clean. We loved Tony's full English the following morning as there was plenty to choose from even for those fussy ones.
Overall fantastic, very comfortable stay in a great location. Highly recommended.

It seems a previous reviewer, Jonathan, had a similar experience of poor customer service.
Having entered my required dates on the booking page on their website, no prices showed and it didn’t actually state the rooms were booked/full or unavailable. Afterall, there may have been an issue with the website for all I knew.
I therefore called on 12 May to enquire about booking. I was flexible on dates so didn’t leave a specific date in my phone message, but requested a callback as their website says - Please call on 07445009880 to see if we have any flexibility on the rooms available. To date - 15th May - I have not received a call.
While they may be courting customers with pretty pictures and revelling in their reviews, the initial customer experience is distinctly lacking. A quick call to check my requirement would have been courteous and left me feeling they care about prospective customers even if they didn’t have availability. They need to improve their customer communication skills.
Even Basil Faulty took and made customer phone calls!

We booked four nights at the Rockmount after reading the fantastic reviews that it had achieved. We were not disappointed. The hosts, Tony and Pip are a joy to be with and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at complete ease, if possible they will do anything to make your stay memorable. The rooms are beautiful, exceptional clean and kitted out with everything that you will need. Our bed was very comfortable too. The Rockmount is located in the centre of Tavistock and has easy parking. Tavistock is a lovely town on the edge of Dartmoor, such a delightful place to visit and so many places to visit within an easy drive. We will definitely stay there again.

Stayed when cycling the Devon coast to coast. Fantastic! Really trendy rooms, owners couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. They were literally opening the new bar / dining area the next day & showed us round - gas just plumbed into draught beer so we had the first pints to christen it with them. Great location 2 minute walk to restaurants etc. Would 100% recommend.

Hi. I'm 15 minutes walk and the taxi rank, 30 seconds from my B&B will get you there in 3 minutes. We are the closest B&B to Kelly. Thanks for the enquiry.
