Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tavistock House Hotel effectively leverages its small size and modern design to favourably distinguish itself from larger hotels charging similar prices. Brad is a friendly and cheerful host, and the room itself is comfortable and well-stocked with amenities - a great place to return to each evening. I was initially worried about the continental-only breakfast, but actually didn't miss the cooked fare at all. The produce on offer is varied enough to be interesting, and all of a decent quality.

I spent 3 nights at the hotel as a base for work. From the moment I walked in the front gate, I felt a sense of warmth! The hotel is spotless from the front garden, hall, and throughout. I was met by Brad the owner, he was the perfect host and very approachable. The room was beautiful, the bathroom spotless and the bed was very comfortable (I travel a lot for work and always worry if I will have a good night's sleep) Breakfast was perfect for me as I prefer the healthier options to cooked. Plenty of places to eat in the evening, a 10mins walk to the centre When field-based for work you can't wait to get home and sleep in your own bed - this was not the case with the Tavistock, I am looking forward to my next visit

Our third stay at this lovely hotel. A perfect place to rest, recoup and explore the beautiful countryside. Brad and Gill are so welcoming, friendly and hospitable and the whole atmosphere of the hotel is one of comfort and kindness. The room we stayed in is very comfortable, with armchairs to sit in for afternoon tea. The bathroom is super luxurious with the best rain head shower going!

First impression superb. Met by Bradley the owner, briefed on the hotel, and shown to our room (No. 2). First impression of the room was cleanliness. The bed was unbelievably comfortable (having got a slightly dodgy back) and the sheets were high quality cotton; the shower was sparkling and efficient, and the room accoutrements were all beautifully presented. The breakfast was varied, healthy and wonderfully presented. If you want a good value, top-end hotel/B&B in Tavistock, where cleanliness and the highest standards of hospitality are displayed, this is clearly an obvious location.

I had a wonderful stay. This boutique hotel feels like modern luxury. I was greeted on arrival, helped with my luggage and even had my room upgraded. I was made to feel safe and at home which is hugely important to me when traveling alone. I was given advice on local eateries for dinner and the location of the hotel is perfect just a few minutes walk into town. The furnishings are gorgeous and I had an excellent nights sleep, the bed is so comfy. In the morning I was greeted again and had help with my luggage. The owner kindly allowed me to keep my car in the car park whilst I attended a few appointments in town. Overall I had an amazing stay and I would stay here again for sure, and definitely recommend!

Stayed overnight in this elegant small hotel, perfectly placed within a few minutes easy walk of the centre of historic Tavistock and its many restaurants. The bedroom was large, stylish, comfortable and well-appointed, with modern fixtures including a powerful shower. We enjoyed an excellent leisurely breakfast with plenty of choice and attentive service. There is one (good-sized) private parking space per room. The owner was extremely welcoming and and helpful without being intrusive. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Tavistock: recommended without reservation!

A wonderful place to stay. The decor is amazing and we have not stayed in such a spotlessly clean hotel ever ! To be upgraded to the best room was an unexpected bonus. Great " full English " breakfast although the choice and variety on offer for breakfast was superb if you wanted something else.

The hotel is one of the nicest we have ever stayed in: warm, comfortable, beautifully decorated rooms, fantastic facilities, great breakfast and lovely hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. There is on site parking and the town is a few short minutes walk away with lots of restaurants and cafes to choose from.

Second visit and would return again, everything about the hotel is spot on, managed with friendly professionalism by Brad & Gill. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and well designed. Dartmoor is within such easy reach and plenty of eateries available in Tavistock within easy walking distance.
