My husband and I stayed here I night last weekend on a Travelzoo offer. We paid extra for the suite. Our first impression on entering the hotel was very positive, with a nice welcoming feel. On registration I was asked if I had any food allergies and the tasting menu was adapted accordingly. Our room was massive and has a...

Thank you for your review of your stay and the 6 course Taster Menu. Really pleased to know that the welcome and service, (especially from Sam), complimented the food and ambient. To address your 2 points for improvement, you are aware that we have an ongoing refurbishment programme for the rooms and I am pleased to advise that we do...

We stayed on a Travelzoo B&B offer and extended this with an evening meal. Our room was spacious, warm and the bed was very comfortable....and large as it was two 3ft bases combined. The en-suite facilties were dated but practical. The room decor with the exception of a feature wall was uninspiring, magnolia ruled where the need for Farrow and...

Thank you very much for your review, all the great compliments therein and your recognition and appreciation of the fact that we have an ongoing project! We have replaced the bed in the room you were in but not yet redecorated it. Ironically the refurbished bedrooms are all decorated with Farrow and Ball paint, as is the bar which you...

The hosts are extremely welcoming and the hotel is beautifully appointed, cosy and comfortable. The restaurant is excellent. We stayed with our two dogs and they were also made very welcome. The hotel is situated in beautiful countryside with easy access to the Forest of Dean.

My partner and I stayed at Glewstone as a birthday treat for me. When we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to the suite. What a lovely room (i use the word loosely as I'm pretty sure it had more square footage than the upstairs of my house). A massive comfy bed topped it off. We had...

Thank you for your review and the compliments and we are delighted that you really appreciated the upgrade to the suite. Glad that you enjoyed the 6 course taster menu which was introduced last year and has been very well received. We hope to be able to welcome you again sometime. Gary Homewood

Arriving on a wet and windy night the facade of this beautiful property was welcoming and inviting. Stepping through the columned portico and the large solid wood doors, we felt like we had walked into a period drama. Inside was warm and peaceful with a classy but understated bar and homely touches. Following our host up the impressive staircase we...

Thank you for your review which is wonderfully descriptive. We are delighted that you enjoyed every aspect of your stay including the history of the manor house and its residents among them Lieutenant Colonel Basil Jackson and Lieutenant General Sir Francis Nosworthy. Your comment about the filling of the red is noted. Regarding screwcaps, there are reasons behind and many...

Great stay with Gary and the team, they do a great job without being too much. They give great service. Nice hotel. Nice location too. Tasting menu was good and the wines were nice - interesting too. The local red wine was a beauty!

I couldn't recommend this place enough! The hotel is beautiful, clean and extremely cosy!! It is set in a stunning, quiet location, with a beautiful walk round a private orchard & lake. If you wish to venture a little further afield, it has Ross-on-Wye & Symonds Yat on its doorstep! The staff are superb! Very friendly & nothing is too...

Chose this hotel from Secret Escapes and glad I did. My friend and I went for a couple of days "away from it all." The staff were welcoming and friendly from the start. I had pre-ordered afternoon tea to have when we arrived and it was lovely. Everything - the cakes, scones, savouries, dessert - was all freshly made that...

Thank you for you review and we are delighted that you both enjoyed your stay with us and your afternoon tea! My friend and I had a friend's night away to recoup our energy after looking after grandchildren and elderly parents. Not only was there tea, coffee and water...

Thank you for your review and compliments. The cosy rooms are fine for an overnight stay but not an extended stay although some people find them more than adequate for the latter, it does depend on your requirements.
