A warm welcome awaits you here at Haywood Farm, which occupies approximately 7 acres of parkland and is set next to woodland. Our open season is from 1 March until 31 October each year. We have lots of onsite activities including a children's play area with climbing frames, swings and a hideout. A football pitch plus volley ball/badminton net. We also have a games room with pool, football and tennis tables. You can explore the local woodlands as we have direct access for terrific walks or cycle rides. We have electric or non electric pitches and Hardstanding (gravel) or grass plus some xl grass pitches. We also now have a one bedroom holiday home ((Bluebell Cottage) available to rent for 3, 4 or 7 nights. The site has an array of modern facilities including shower and toilet blocks, a washing up area plus communal fridge and freezer facilities. There are some truly amazing places to explore and visit nearby in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley AONB and local market towns. For adventurers such as climbing the rocks at Symonds Yat numerous walks/bike riding trails leading directly into the woods or canoeing on the River Wye. Also, we are located close to numerous golf courses. If you are wanting a slower pace there are plenty of local castles (Raglan, Chepstow, Goodrich) as well as arboretums and nature reserves. Gloucester is also not far away with its fabulous docks and museums.

We visited midweek in summer holidays as an extended family group in 2 tents for 2 nights. Great site for kids with good play area, table tennis, ball game area and woods to explore. Felt like we had plenty of space where we were (far end of main tent field near play area). Possibly the area for caravans and electric hook ups looked closer together. Had pizza the second night which was nice and delivered to the pitch. Enjoyed local walk to lake and trips to Birds of Prey centre (10 mins drive) and Symonds Yat Rock (25 min drive).
Main criticism would be the number of toilets -and showers- 2 cubicles of each in ladies, same in mens plus one unisex family / disabled of each doesn't seem enough for size of site, particularly of toilets and they could have been cleaned more often given the amount of use. It also felt a long way to toilets with kids but we were probably the furthest pitch away. Am hoping the new owners might be installing some more. Also a shame fire pits are not allowed, although we could use a bbq so not too big an issue.
On the whole a lovely site, with potential to be even better.

I booked this for our caravan club for our late summer holiday rally and we had the site almost to ourselves for much of the week!
The site is tucked away down a narrow lane and it really is important to follow the directions on the website and not to get there before the arrival time stipulated as meeting something coming in the opposite direction would not be fun with a caravan on the back!
Peter and Rosemary are friendly hosts and the homecooked pizza is great! We were pitched at the front of the site in a lovely crescent of hardstanding pitches with a couple of willow trees in the middle. The hardstanding pitches that we were all sited on were a bit random in shape and size though, but we all managed, although it may make for easier pitching if they were all uniform, the seasonal pitches looked much more uniform. The 10amp electric worked fine for us all. There was an occasional waft of the elsan (not sure if this was from the reed beds doing their job?) but nothing we couldn't put up with. The site is well geared up for children with a football pitch and a play area (we didn't have any children with us but it looked good) There is also table football, a pool table and table tennis in the covered barn area.
Fantastic walks directly off site into the woods which was great for all of the dog owners amongst us. Peter helpfully told us which way to walk to some of the points of interest via the bridle path.
Being close to Ross on Wye and the Forest of Dean there is plenty to see and do in the area and being close to the M50 made it easy to get to.
The shower and toilet facilities are adequate and the owners are currently working hard on updating them ready for next year. As mentioned to Peter it would be nice to see a laundry room added, I am sure plenty of people would find it useful, several people in our group had already had a week away and had travelled here from other sites or were going on to other places so it's helpful to have somewhere to do washing. I am sure that families with kids running around in the woods and getting dirty would find it useful too!
That said, we would all come and visit again.

Great campsite and facilities. We camped on a non electric pitch, which was good but the only downside was it being on an incline. The facilities were really good - small shop to buy essentials, games room, outdoor games areas and the best showers I have ever experienced at a campsite! The location of the campsite was really good with access to a woods to walk.

The site was nice enough and the owners were very welcoming, it just wasn't 100% for us. The pitch we were on was smaller than we've been used to and there are issues with the toilet/showers (in need of updating) which the new owners are aware of and are currently improving. I really do think they'll improve the site. Another thing for us that we felt needed some work was the children's play area. If it had wood chippings down it would dry the mud up a lot and make it a lot better. As it was, we only went once and a play area is essential for us on a site so this was a let down. This is however a lovely quiet site with lots of nature around.
On a final note, if the pizzas are on when you are there you really do need to try them. They were fabulous and a highlight for us.

Thanks for your review….and saying “about the lovely quite site with lots of nature around and we loved the comment of the Fabulous Pizzas and a highlight for you .. On the negative observations of the play park ….we have already purchased new play safety mats …we didn’t want to close the park to install them over the summer holiday and unfortunately we had that short massive downpour….and hence a bit of mud whilst it dried out ….over the winter break they will be installed for ready for next year . The building on the improvements on the toilets and new showers are resuming again after the summer holiday ….ready for the new exciting season ahead.

We came across Haywood Farm earlier this week and decided to book an overnight stay. This allowed us to have a trial run in our newly converted motor home.
The hard standing pitches are located near the entrance so it’s nice and easy to access. It’s very quiet and not over crowded, which allowed us to enjoy our trip.
We were lucky enough to be one of the first couples to use the new shower cubicles, along with the new air hockey table located in the games room.
There is a small shop at reception which have all the necessities at a very reasonable price. Everything you need is on site.
This was a lovely evening away and would definitely return in the summer months.

Site has huge potential! The owners have not been there long and I’m sure they have a list of things to do. The site is in a lovely setting. I felt the the pitches are too close together and would rather have more room between vans/tents. There is the need for a light from the pitches to the toilets. Toilets and showers need a real deep clean and then regular cleaning.. the floors were fairly dirty and not new dirt. No fire pits seems a little unreasonable and actually I’ve never camped anywhere where these are not allowed. All that said, we had a nice stay and the pizzas were yummy and reasonably priced!

The site was nice, good location and access to walks through the woods to a small lake etc. Lovely owners.

Lovely scenery, surrounded by trees. Great children’s park. The pizza was great too, especially on arrival day to save cooking!

The little on-site shop was handy with a few essentials and ice creams etc.

Facilities were lacking (2 toilets, 2 sinks and 2 showers per gender) but I do believe they are being updated and expanded!

Would visit again when facilities have been updated but only out of school holidays, we were at the bottom of the field in non-electric and there was adequate space, although sloped, but the rows behind us the tents were far too cramped in. Constructive feedback would be to have just one row of tents per strip rather than having pitches opposite each other as there just isn’t enough space.

Nicely laid out site, facilities good and staff friendly. For the number of campers over the Bank Holiday weekend it could have done with more toilet facilities or more routine cleaning. There also seemed to be issues with hot water at one point. Good dog walking in the forest.

We’ve just had a lovely weekend staying at this campsite and the weather was good, which definitely helped! We paid an extra £8 to be able to check in between 9am and 12pm instead of after 2pm, which was really handy. Check in was easy and quick and we were really happy with our pitch. We had asked to be next to friends, which they had been able to accommodate, so that was great. Picnic tables dotted around and bricks available for raising BBQs. Fire pits are not allowed. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Showers and toilets were clean. Site was well kept in general. Games room was a hit with the kids, but not as much as the surrounding woods, which were fantastic for walks. Play area was great. Dogs welcome. Shop was well stocked. Pizzas were available to order most nights and were delicious. Bacon, sausage and egg baps also available to order on Saturday and Sunday mornings, we didn’t try these, but they look yummy! Quiet time was 10.30pm-7.30am, which seemed to be respected by most people. Site was located well for visiting the surrounding area including Symonds Yat. We would definitely stay here again.

A lovely site, surrounded by trees and which feels very natural. It backs onto woods which are great for a short or long walk. The owner happily told us about a walk to the lake through the woods, which was really enjoyable. There is a decent play area and a good football pitch, I hardly saw my children. It was their favourite site out of all the ones we used on our two week tour. The pitches were mostly level, but some needed a long EHU cable so it is worth checking. The owners are friendly and helpful, accommodating us even when I messed up the booking dates at the end of our trip, which was really appreciated. The pizzas baked on site are as delicious as they smell! The facilities are good, but there aren’t many toilets/showers. Saying that, I never had to wait to use one, and there were two additional bathrooms upstairs. The only things that I think could be improved are a little shop you can go into and browse, more dog bins, particularly at the entrances to the site from the lane and woods, and the drain smell that was quite unpleasant on the meadow field (not sure if it was due to the heavy rain). A great site though, I’d definitely recommend and we enjoyed our visits. Thanks.
