Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fabulous stay. The house is dated, and the windows didn't shut, but we had a great stay. Perfect for friends gathering, and the location is suburb. I think the host must still live in the house the wardrobes have clothes in, the freezer had some food left in it etc, this didn't bother us. The pub opposite is very good and the town is just lovely. We would return.

Good location nice part of town. Good parking outside. Not expensive but missing something. Bedding could do with replacing. Mattress nearing the end of its life. Not our best nights sleep. It was all ok but could be son much better with some investment.

Alas still no breakfast. We were referred to “lots of cafes in the town” but we needed an early started and there didn’t appear to be any that would offer breakfast at 8am. Except for the excellent and well cooked inexpensive breakfast at Weatherspoons! There is a distinct smell of smoke which as non smokers ourselves is off putting. We had the room at the top of the house at the end of the corridor with the most compact en-suite I have ever seen. You had to stand outside to dry yourself and lower yourself carefully onto the loo so you didn’t bang your knee on the cupboard. Many of the rooms were occupied by the owner’s friends who were enjoying a cooked breakfast at 9.30am.....

I'm afraid I have to echo recent negative reviews. This isn't a B&B now - there's no breakfast at all, and you don't find that out until you arrive, which is very frustrating, especially as nowhere in the town was open when we needed to eat, so we went hungry. There's also (still) no soap, no shampoo or other toiletries. All the other places we have stayed in this week have had soap, so I don't buy the 'because of covid' excuse. Weirdly, unwrapped loose tea-bags were provided, and the owner only wanted to be paid in cash - despite covid. The WiFi was so bad that I gave up on it. It's supposedly a non-smoking hotel, but the owner or family must be heavy smokers as the whole place smells strongly of cigarettes - very unpleasant for a non-smoker. We also struggled with a kamikaze loo seat that slipped sideways when you sat on it, what looked like drops of wee at the back of the dodgy loo seat, and not very hot water. The bedding was terribly tired and all bobbly - it really needed replacing. It felt like the owner had rather given up on the place to be honest. It certainly wasn't worth the £90 (cash) that we were charged and I won't ever be going back. Very disappointing and much too expensive for what you get. I suggest you go elsewhere.

I called earlier in the evening to check if they had any rooms available. The hostess said she was willing to sell the room to me for £50 cash. I agreed but felt it was strange to take cash especially with Covid restrictions. She was going out so told me to let myself in and I was at top of stairs in room 7. Fortunately we all arrived at same time as I was having trouble getting in. Firstly I was surprised that the hosts were not wearing masks. I went into room and was putting my jacket in cupboard and was surprised to find a dress hung up! When I notified the host, he was quite humorous so we just joked about it. The hostess came and picked up the dress and said it was her friend’s who had stayed in the room a few days ago. I thought I’d take a shower but discovered there were no toiletries or soap. I told the hostess who basically said they don’t keep any in the rooms due to covid! This was odd as surely for hygiene- we need soap at least! She gave me some shower gel. The bathroom floor looked dirty as if It hadn’t been cleaned. When I went to the bed, their was dirt on the head board so I had to clean it before I slept. On opening the covers, there were some hairs on the creased sheets. I also noticed that their were biscuit wrappers and a discarded milk carton under the bed. It was evident that the room hadn’t been cleaned. As I was very tired as it was now after 10pm - I just went to sleep on the other side of bed which didn’t have the hair!! The next day I mentioned the hairs in bed to which the hostess just laughed it off and said it must have been hers when she changed the bed!! Her hair was blond and their were dark hairs in bed! I have travelled to many hotels and guest houses but have never felt so uncomfortable as state of room was unacceptable.

Stayed here for two nights and left disappointed. The decor in the room (Rm 1) was dated and drab. In the room we were provided with 2 disposable cups with sachets of coffee, UHT milk and teabags which weren't replenished at all, in fact I'm not convinced the room was serviced at any time during our stay. There was no soap and we were told it's because of Covid (I thought hand washing was one of the main means of spreading the virus!). It is a non smoking guesthouse but Joy (owner) is a smoker who stands on doorstep smoking therefore all the smoke drifts up the stairs making the place smell. Wouldn't return as I'm sure there are better options.

So firstly note this is NOT a bnb it’s a guest house and breakfast is not served and all you have for choice in this uninspiring town is a nasty Wetherspoons. I got caught out booking this property as I was under the impression it was a BNB. Nice spacious rooms. No toiletries provided apart from soap - you can grab some from the basket up the stairs. Foam pillows - uncomfortable and the bedding wasn’t pure cotton. Beautifully decorated and the gorgeous owner provides tea and coffee. Great place for walks but I won’t be returning to this town. Top tip - book the Potting Shed for dinner - don’t waste your time in town

We stayed in a lovely twin room that was spacious so allowed us a quiet place to hang out and recover from a day of walking the country-side. The B&B had all the necessities (comfortable bed, hot shower, hot breakfast and treats. Joy was very welcoming. Alongside the river and restaurants were close by

Just returned from a trip to Wales and spent the night in this delightful B&B. Lovely decor, comfortable good sized room and walk in shower. Friendly owner . Limited choice for breakfast but very nice and more than adequate. Would definitely stay there again.
