A family lunch was made special by the staff at The King's Head in spite of the slightly long wait the food was first rate. The mebnu goes from strength to strength and the ambiance of the library dinig room is the best in the town.

The hotel is an old coaching inn, so it has an old-fashioned but charming feel to it. The bedroom and bathroom were a good size and clean (and cleaned every morning during my 4 night stay), with a comfy bed and crisp linen. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. Afternoon tea in the library is a must! Breakfasts were...

With 14 pensioner age, one young couple and a baby organising tends to be challenging. The Hotel managed our 2 night weekend stay requirements with a friendly and efficient approach. Nothing seemed too much of a problem. Rooms were clean and fine, bed was comfy, towels were good and dinner was really good. Breakfast food was good if a little...

On a very rare occasions that I wasn't working on a Sunday me and my wife decided to venture out so we ended up at the kings head, we both ordered the roast beef with veg, roasties and York pudd and extra gravy as well, the food was excellent especially the m/r beef and the service just the right balance....

First impressions as you make your way upstairs to your room are that one or two things are a little tired. Perhaps not surprising given the age of the hotel. In the room a large and very comfortable bed. Only negative, the secondary glazing sash window would not stay up (we propped it open). The little street outside had a...

Being in the need of a weekend chill I booked and I was not disappointed,. Parking was easy and check in very quick the walk to the room reminding you how old the building is....

The checkin was very simple and the rooms are of a good size with comfortable beds. Although this is an old building, with creaky floors there is virtually no noise from other rooms. The food is excellent, tasty and well presented with a good choice of food and drinks at very reasonable prices. The hotel is situated in the centre...

Choice of food is perfect, not too big not too small. The menu changes regularly and never disappoints. Range of beverages is of a high standard and the staff are so professional, friendly and welcoming that they made our visit perfect. Outside area is great, toilets clean and the bar and restaurant look classy. Thanks all, see you soon!

We wanted to book a night away over Easter and to test out our little rescue dog Jake at being away from home as we've only had him 2 months and he's just fully settled in. The reviews looked good and this place fitted the bill. On arrival we were offered a table in the library for breakfast if we...

Visited here with another couple to celebrate the men's birthdays. We took advantage of the DBB rate. Firstly it was a chilly day and I was pleased at how warm and comfortable the hotel was. It is a lovely old place with plenty of period charm open fires and beams. Our room was lovely the bed large and comfy. The...
