Wharton Lodge has 3 superb holiday cottages and we have had another fantastic stay in Grosvenor. Everything about the place is top quality and the owners go above and beyond to make their guests welcome. The cottages are kept spotlessly clean and the gardens are immaculate. It is obvious that the whole team take great pride in their work. It is a fab place to stay and relax at any time of year and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. It is in a fantastic location, lots to see and do locally, lots of nice walks & it is also nice just to chill out in the beautiful gardens. Thank you to all the team at WL, we had a really enjoyable stay and we really appreciate the effort you all put in to make it such a special place.

We booked Elgar at Wharton Lodge Cottages for a week away to celebrate our joint birthdays. It was just the break that we needed - but to spend it in such beautiful surroundings and in such a welcoming, cosy cottage far exceeded our expectations. Everything was just right and Nicky and George proved to be the perfect hosts, from the warm welcome on arrival and throughout our stay. Elgar itself is delightful. Spacious, comfortable and well equipped, we had everything that we needed to make our stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible - including a welcome hamper of essentials and treats. The online guide provided gave us all the info that we needed regarding the cottage, plus useful tips on local restaurants, walks and attractions etc. The location is an ideal base to explore the Wye Valley and is only a short drive from the beautiful Forest of Dean. Having use of the electric vehicle charger also meant that all of our local trips were emissions free throughout our stay - a real plus. Quite simply the best accommodation that we have ever stayed at - we loved it 😊♥️

We had an absolutely delightful long weekend break to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in “Elgar” at Wharton Lodge. The cottage is perfectly equipped, warm, cosy and spotlessly clean, (so very important in the current times). The grounds are beautifully kept. I loved waking up to see the sheep out in the fields. The welcome food items are a lovely gesture. You can sit back have a cup of tea or coffee with a biscuit, then get up in the morning with breakfast items all ready to go. Nicky & George are great hosts and the lovely cleaning team are very helpful and do an excellent job. Nothing was too much bother for any of them. They all wanted you to have the perfect stay. The location is excellent. Only 10 minutes away from Ross-on-Wye where there are lots of shops and some very good restaurants. We ate lunch at No.3 twice whilst there and Nicky kindly booked us a table at Orles Barn restaurant for our anniversary meal. So glad she did as it’s very popular and gets booked up. Both were very good. We had a nice walk in the country park following the sculpture trail. There is lots to see in the area. Elgar suited our needs perfectly. We can’t wait to return for a longer stay and to explore more of the area. Thank you Nicky and George for renting us your cottage and for the lovely memories we now have on our anniversary weekend. You also have the most beautiful and calmest Labradors I have ever met.

We’ve had another brilliant stay at Wharton Lodge and can’t wait to visit again! The wonderful 5 start cottages are absolutely immaculate; everything possible has been thought of. We felt very reassured by the excellent attention to sanitation measures during these challenging times of the Covid pandemic. There is secure, gated parking with a car charging point; the courtyard is great for children to play in too! They are perfectly situated for visiting the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas. The new secure bike store is a genius addition. There are some superb eateries nearby; we particularly enjoyed Leonard’s at 39 in Ross and the Moody Cow in Upton Bishop. The facilities at Wharton Lodge are fantastic with gardens to rival any National Trust property. Nicky, George and their beautiful dogs make the perfect hosts!

DO please read other all other reviews? They are very accurate in their descriptions of Wharton Lodge and its ambience. The cottages, whichever you select, are delightful. Nicky and George have created three lovely self contained pretty homes. From the warm greetings from your hosts, the generous welcome pack to their (V well behaved!) waggy - tailed pets, you'll realise that your stay here will be special. There's so much to do in this lovely part of UK, that is IF you can break away from the beautiful gardens, the glasshouse, the local parkland walks and.... your comfy (sparkly clean!) home. (PS There's a charging point for your car if needed).

You couldn’t ask for more! We arrived in the pouring rain, to be welcomed by a cheerful Nicky. Nicky and George could not do enough for us, the cottage was inviting with all the mod Con’s you could ask for, including a well stocked larder. The cottage itself, is idyllically situated, with a delightful outlook and many walks. The restaurants and pubs around and about serving great food. Nicky had ensured every concern Re COVID protection had been covered, and being our first time away from home it was very reassuring! We’ve have had to cancel many holidays abroad this year, but if we can come to places like ‘Wharton Lodge’ then we will be more than satisfied. We were concerned about staying in a hotel, re COVID but staying here we defiantly got all the comforts of home and charm thrown in! Will we come again? You bet if they have a vacancy!

Returning for our ninth successive visit in as many years, we've found that the same excellent service, welcome and facilities, remain a constant delight. We had thought that the present circumstances could have caused difficulties, but Nicky, George and their Staff have rose to the challenge of Covid 19. They have completed risk assessments, rigorous health and safety requirements and put in place procedures that will make your stay, safe and painless. All this done with their genial and hospitable graciousness we have come to expect. Best wishes for the future.

Dear C & D, We can't tell you how much your very kind feedback means to us. It has been a tough year for all of us but life at WL has been particularly strange and unsettling without visitors to our cottages. Nothing is more important than keeping a safe environment for our team and our guests and it's great that our efforts are appreciated. Please stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back to WL when life is a little more back to 'normal'. With big thanks from Nicky, George and the WL Team xx

Harewood Cottage was one of the finest properties we have stayed at in the UK. Every aspect of the accommodation has been thoroughly thought through in order to make sure you have a perfect stay. Treats for your pet, a lovely welcome hamper with wine on arrival. Dressing-gowns, slippers and luxury bathroom amenities among the many touches at this fine accommodation. We really just cannot tell you how helpful and communicative the owners, Nicky and George were. Nicky obviously loves welcoming guests to her home and making sure that her guests are very well looked after during their stay. Both are so friendly and genuinely interested in their guests. Many (dog-friendly) pubs nearby. Ross-on-Wye town centre is just minutes away. Several historical monuments and beautiful areas close by, including immense grounds, where you can walk with your dog as well.

We have just spent a week at Wharton Lodge and could have easily spent the rest of June there. The place is just fabulous, the furnishings inside the cottage are top notch and always spotlessly clean. The cottage always looks like it has been newly decorated & is extremely well maintained. The Walled Garden is a delight, it’s lovely to sit out there early evening with a glass of wine just chilling. We had a lovely warm welcome from the owners and a super welcome hamper. This place far exceeds our expectations and we shall keep returning. Thanks to all the team that make our holiday special. J & R

We never get tired of visiting Grosvenor at Wharton Lodge. Just got back from our 5th visit and there is still so much to see and do in the beautiful Wye Valley. The team at WL work to such a high standard and take pride in everything they do, they clearly want everyone to enjoy their stay, nothing is too much trouble. Our cottage was immaculate on arrival as were the grounds and gardens, we felt relaxed and at home the minute we pulled up on the drive. Nicky & George the owners are just the best hosts you could ever wish to meet. So helpful and welcoming. We can’t praise this place enough, we love taking our dogs on holiday with us and it is so hard to find accommodation with a 5* Gold Award who accept dogs but quality is never compromised here.
