Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came across the wisteria when we were booking our wedding in Oakham and felt that the wisteria would be perfect for us and our guests to attend after the ceremony for a short time before our reception … I contacted the wisteria via email and spoke with Joao the manager, we cannot thank him enough, he had amazing communication with us, was happy to assist in anything we needed, on our wedding day he and the other staff were so attentive. We stayed at the wisteria for 2 nights in the normanton suite what a beautiful room this is, 4 post bed, bath tub in the room it was lovely! I have no faults what so ever for this hotel it was a beautiful place to be and the staff we met, especially Joao are a credit to the hotel! We will return!

We, and the dog, were welcomed warmly, the food was absolutely delicious, served by two waitresses who were funny and efficient, the beds were comfy and we've bought the same pillows for use at home because they were so lovely.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location. A minute walk from Oakham's shops and cafes and a few minutes drive from Rutland Water. Room was clean and bright. We stayed for 3 nights and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate at the hotel on the first night and the food was delicious. The only negative was the breakfasts which were disappointing.

My wife and I had heard through friends about how good the Sunday lunches were. We booked and were really pleased we did. We opted for the 2 course Sunday lunch. The beef main was perfectly cooked for us at medium rare, and we were offered the beef could be cooked to whatever we wanted. The vegetables were cooked and tasted great. This was a really good meal cooked really well. We asked for more gravy and were provided with some very quickly. Although the starters looked very good we opted for deserts. The sticky toffee pud and cheese cake topped off a really good lunch. That will definitely see us return again.

The newly refurbished Hunters Bar and restaurant are our regular go-to for Sunday lunch, the roasts are to die for. This time we decided to go for the full of flavour pumpkin risotto which was absolutely perfectly cooked and presented. So this time we had a tad more room for one of their delicious desserts. Highly recommend this lovely hotel, their friendly and professional staff and above all, their food!

For the second time, our Church group of forty people went to the Wisteria for our annual lunch and it was a lovely occasion in a private room. The room had been beautifully set out and guests were able to order drinks from the bar, before taking their seats. We had all pre-ordered lunch to enable a really smooth and timely table service and there were many compliments from the members about the delicious two course lunch afterwards. We had been given a choice of three main courses and three desserts, followed by tea or coffee. The hotel had set up a screen and projector for our speaker in advance and this really helped her to give an excellent talk. All in all, an excellent afternoon and I'm sure we shall be back next year.

Really pleasant stay. The breakfast was a bit stingy, but very tasty - The menu mentioned plural mushrooms, but only one turned up!. Be careful making a hot drink in your room! I did look everywhere for a more suitable plug socket, but couldn't find one! The bed was very comfortable, the shower powerful and the room was very clean. The staff very friendly. I will certainly stay again and hope to get the plural mushrooms as promised on the menu!

We stayed at the Wisteria for the weekend and had a really nice time. Great to be able to park at the hotel although we had been given alternative parking options as part of the welcome email. All the staff were extremely helpful and polite. We had a warm welcome and had been allocated two ground floor adjacent rooms close to reception as requested. The rooms and public areas were all spotlessly clean. The beds very comfortable and the room was really well thought out with hospitality tray and plenty of coat hangers. Lovely big bathroom and great shower. The continental breakfast was delicious and really nicely laid out. Hot breakfast cooked to order- best poached eggs I’ve had in ages and really nice quality bread. Again cannot praise the staff and service enough. We ate dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was very well presented and delicious. Service was excellent and if I have one minor criticism it would be that there was not enough gap between the starter and main courses being served.

We went to The Wisteria Hotel for family reasons, the family living in nearby villages. The staff were absolutely amazing, all of them! They were so helpful. The room was very comfortable. We just had bed and breakfast. The breakfast was really good with a good choice. The staff at breakfast were really good too, so friendly. I have NEVER given such a good review for a hotel before. We have now stayed there on three occasions and each time it has been brilliant. This time, we had arranged a funeral and had the wake at the hotel. Again, I couldn't fault it. The food for the wake was really good, with amazing samosas! Thank you Wisteria Hotel.

Stayed at the Wisteria as me and my son where visiting my grandparents who live in the local area. It was a wonderful stay! From checking in, the staff are all so so lovley! Everyone says hello! The room was beautiful. Beds remarkably comfy. My son, who is 7, slept the best he has done in them! The breakfast was delicious and perfect size. Had a lovley meal for my birthday on the Thursday evening also. The staff surprised me with a little cake and candle and sang me happy birthday! Which made my day! Nothing too much for these guys! My son loved this hotel too! A defo little gem this place!
