Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visiting only for a drink - staff were so welcoming and friendly. It felt that everything - toilets, carpets and upholstery were fresh and newly cleaned. It felt a very safe to be with a lot to offer. Staff were keen to offer a food menu and there was an immaculate chef in full whites ready to cook to order.

Good;
Check in easy
Parking decent
Bar and restaurant areas nice
Cooked breakfast good.
Staff polite
Quiet room
Shower decent
Pretty clean througout

Not good:
Pictures misleading as rooms very very dated
Bed small
Sink in the room, not the bathroom
Only coffee in the tray
Continental breakfast poor
Drink prices extortionate. Orange and lemonade mix and a zero alcohol cider = £10.10
Dogs in rhe bar with people eating
Reserved tables for locals when im actually paying to stay here

Not sure id stay again

We were visiting Milton Keynes with family for our daughter's wedding celebration. We booked 3 rooms at The Swan last minute, having had our Airbnb accommodation cancelled by the host that afternoon. All the staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the whole place full of character. The breakfasts were excellent as was the small hotel pub out the back which also did food. Parking was available either in the small carpark onsite or in the public carpark at the rear. Highly recommended and we shall look forward to booking again.

Our room wasn't too large, the bed was comfortable, there was a bottle opener fixed to the wall [?!] a sink in the bedroom and a really good shower and TV.
The bar/pub attached to the hotel seemed very popular with the locals, served a nice lunch and some excellent beer.
The car park is very small.

From making enquiries by phone to use this venue for a surprise 40th party to the party itself we found the hotel staff friendly and helpful.
This made everything so much easier to organise as they were keen we had everything done as we wanted and they wanted us to have a good time.
They told us the function room was booked that night but we could use their restaurant instead and organise tables etc how we liked and decorate the room as we liked.
It's an old coaching inn with a lot of history so the dining room had a lot of character instead of being a modern characterless room, which we liked. Also the bar was right outside the door.
There was free parking after 6pm round the back in the public car park and they do have a small car park themselves.
We were given free rein to decorate the room but no confetti or party poppers as the room has to be used for breakfast the next morning, and lets face it nobody wants hardworking staff spending half the night clearing up a big mess you have made.
The room looked great, we had our own music and lights and the food was excellent. It was freshly prepared, tasty and varied. Everyone commented on how good it was. The chef also provided separate plates of food for those with allergies which were also delicious.
We all had a brilliant time the staff were great and we had the only room with air conditioning on whule others were sweltering in temperatures over 30c on the hottest night of the year!

Many thanks to everyone at the Swan Revived Hotel Newport Pagnall for providing us with a brilliant party venue.

Stayed here for the f1 weekend with my son. Good location from the track, easy access.
Lovely old building, friendly staff, good size room, comfy bed. Good size English breakfast to start the day.
Had a meal in its restaurant. Restaurant 33. Again, good food from there. Couldn't knock it.
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 out 5. Firstly the room wasn't at it cleanest, or what I would have expected. Yes the bathroom was clean, however the dust on the bedside table and lamp was a bit extreme. There was a door do not disturb sign behind the bedside table ( you could clearly see it when you walked in the room) was caked in dust. Restaurant 33 we did get a table and we got a drink and meal in good time. However after the meal, I did ask the gentleman if we could have some service we could. We wanted to order some more drink and puddings. After asking for a second time and still not getting any service, we decided to leave it. Went to the bar paid the bill and left.
I would like to think, because of the current situation . Its not how normally things are. I'm guessing the business could have been understaffed. That is the only reason I didn't give it 5 out 5
In saying that, would I recommend it. Yes almost definitely. Would I go back and stay, if we decide to back to Silverstone yes I would like to .
I hope the manger doesn't think I'm been unfair in my review. It was only points that I picked up at the time. Hope things get back to more normality for you soon .

Good Evening, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay for the most part! Grand Prix weekend is one of the busiest weekends in our calendar, and when team members have to isolate due to COVID symptoms, we did find ourselves in a bit of a pickle! We tried our best, so i'm sorry to hear this impacted your experience on this occasion. All feedback is constructive, so I will pass on your notes to our housekeeping team to make sure we no longer miss the silly little things. With that said, I hope we do see you again another time for Grand Prix weekend!

We took my mother in law for a belated Mothers Day treat. We booked for the afternoon tea for 3 and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the quirkiness of all of us having different fine china plates etc. One of us is a very fussy eater so when it was booked we had asked for some of the sandwiches to be plain and the team completely followed our request. We found the whole experience very enjoyable. Not only was the food good, but the service was great. We finished and got up to leave and were discussing what great value for money it was, when we were stopped and told there was a slice of cake still to go! Not only that, but we had a menu to choose which cake we wanted. Both my mother in law and myself couldn’t face anything else so they boxed ours up. Would definitely go back

Been having lunch with my Mother every Wednesday for the last few weeks and also with other family members at different times as liked the surroundings, the food and the staff.

However went there today and had my usual chilli only to find it was full of what seemed like fibres or hairs. Not sure what they were but definitely put me off. Manager explained that they were in fact the ginger that had not been crushed properly and I was offered something else. At that point I had lost my appetite so didn't accept.

My mother finished her food which was very good and we went to pay where surprisingly I was charged for the chilli. I asked if that was the case and was told I'd been offered something else so had to pay. In my opinion that is very short sighting and the chilli should have been removed from the bill as a good will gesture.

Still didn't want to make a scene and risk upsetting my mother so paid the bill. End result now is that we will not return but go elsewhere so they have lost several customers.

Pleasantly surprised after reading previous reviews. Somewhat apprehensive but as we booked last minute on a bank holiday weekend with a dog we went for it. Welcome on arrival was good and reception and bar area looked nice. Our room was on the top floor and did only have a small window but was a really good size perfectly acceptable standard prestige bedding and towels all we wanted and a room away from it all especially with the dog. Very central and ate out at a Thai restaurant just down the road which was lovely. The bar next to the hotel was good and we parked on the car park at the rear of the hotel. Breakfast was great, more than we wanted, continental and full English of good quality. The dining room was nicely decorated. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked another night at a good rate. Looked at another room as requested a room with bigger window but on seeing it decided to stay in the original one as larger and better for our dog. Again all sorted with no problems. I would recommend this place and was good value for the price and location including a great breakfast. No it's not perfect but a great choice. Will be returning!
