Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for 2 nights. We were very surprised to find our family room had a separate lounge which was very good for us as our son is autistic which means we did not disturb him while we watched tv and he was in the bedroom. Good sized bathroom with bath and shower over. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Decor is a bit dated, but I didn't mind that as it added to the character of the building.
We had a meal in the bar which was lovely. Very hot and well presented.
We had a cooked breakfast each morning which was probably the best cooked breakfast we have had in any hotel we have stayed in! The view from the bay window in the dining room over the lawn made breakfast even better.
Some reviewers may describe it as dated, but this is an old building, it has character and the price for what you get is amazing. We would not hesitate to stay here again. All the staff were very friendly.
The location is good, just 15 minutes from Africa Alive and 20 minutes to Gt Yarmouth.

I can’t praise them enough, so kind and accommodating, went above and beyond. When my mum ended up in hospital, they were so thoughtful and flexible. My dogs where also so welcome definitely dog friendly as opposed to dog tolerant. There’s Spacious grounds for them to wander around. Everything was clean and all of the bedding spotlessly clean, bed comfortable. Kettle in room. I chose the vegetarian breakfast very good, the plant sausage was very nice and tasty. Thank you Park Hill hotel

Was allocated a courtyard room. Bedding felt damp, stained flooring behind toilet, didn’t smell very nice in either bedroom or bathroom or main building. I like old and quirky and characterful but this is beyond dated. Room and public areas in need of a total refurb. Had to try and find alternative accommodation as felt we could not stay.

The hotel looks REALLY TIRED. The place could do with a deep clean. Smells a bit stale could do with a lick of paint. Manager really rude would not recommend it. On the positive it does have plenty of car parking. Needs a lot of money spent on it.

My husband was working in the Lowestoft area a fortnight ago and suffered a two tyre blow out during the cold weather. Ruth was absolutely amazing in allowing my husband to stay in the Hotel, even though it was closed. Endless cups of tea and biscuits were given to him as he tried to sort out new tyres the following morning. The kindness of some people can never be repaid. Thank you so much for looking after him.

The wife and I stayed for four nights, the hotel is as advertised, well appointed , our room (#7) was excellent, a great size bed, and bathroom, we also had access to the lawns via French doors, the breakfast and evening meals were fantastic. But the most praise must go to the staff, they were very attentive and had a welcoming smile even when they were exceptionally busy, . thank you all. Bryan and Deirdre

Stayed here for 2 nights with 2 dogs, the room was amazing best room we've stayed in and we've stayed in many. The grounds said WELCOME to our dogs as did everyone at the hotel. Basically we would drive from Devon again just to stay at this hotel.

We have just returned from a fantastic break away from a beautiful hotel. The staff were so attentive and welcomed my family (dog included) so warmly. They offered a very safe environment. Breakfast and dinner were both very good value and tasty. Would definitely stay again.

Having now returned to this hotel numerous times couldn’t wish for a more homely, friendly and welcoming stay. The staff really cannot do enough for you and the home made food and sandwich’s are to die for. Rooms are lovely with lots of space and a comfy bed. And the full English breakfast and the smoked salmon is the perfect way to start the day.
Would just like to thank Ruth, Carol, Julie and Noel for a lovely stay hope to see you again soon
From Mark, Joel and George
