Its location garners compliments for convenience, especially from those visiting nearby universities, although some wish for more shopping options. Guests praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and a satisfactory breakfast among the amenities, but some point out the air conditioning and noise can be problematic. The service at The Link Hotel frequently receives accolades for being friendly and professional, and while the rooms and overall atmosphere are generally seen as clean and welcoming, there are mentions of maintenance and the need for some areas to be refreshed.

This hotel has friendly staff, is clean, didn't eat dinner but breakfast was good with plenty for all, continental and full English brigade. Sat Nav does not always take you into the entrance, but to a closed road so make sure you don't miss the turning off the dual carriage way.

Stayed one night, the foyer is large & airy with loads of comfortable seating and bar, which is reasonably priced, staff are friendly and helpful. Room is very similar but nicer to a premier Inn, spacious and well equipped with plenty of tea/milk etc and quality biscuits. And hats off, soft and large towels, big enough to actually go round a larger lady, rather than the usual postage stamp size, feels more luxurious. Breakfast was very nice and hot,(should be standard but it definitely isn't from places we've stayed) and a good choice. Very good value, comfortable and enjoyable stay, thank you.

A great find as a ‘budget’ hotel. I needed a hotel a short distance from Donnington Park raceway and didn’t want to ku airport hotel prices.

The room was of a premier in size and quality level, with a very comfy bed and a large wall mounted TV. It had aircon and was a comfortable temperature over night.

The bathroom had a proper bath with a decent shower and quality Grohe fittings and the whole room was impeccably clean.

Some improvement suggestions:
1) Make you beds even more comfortable with a good quality mattress topper.
2) Increase the shower water pressure and temperature slightly. It was good enough, but I like a hot powerful shower.

I was up and out before breakfast so can’t comment on the food. But the communal bar area and the gym looked good.

The best bit was the fantastic customer service upon arrival from Harry on reception. This guy is a model of how to do customer service in the leisure and travel industry, and is a star employee at the Link Hotel Loughborough.

The moment I stepped through the door he greeted across the lobby from the reception desk with a big smile and was polite, enagaging, good humoured and made me feel welcomed and valued as a customer.

I’ve stayed in many hotels with my job that cost 3-4 times this place and rarely have I felt so welcomed at a hotel.

Harry is the best hotel receptionist I think I’ve ever encountered.

@ Link hotel corporate management - please make Harry your ‘Head of Guest Experience Training Manager’ or something similar. You have a talented colleague there whose enthusiasm and competence should be recognised and rewarded and put to good use within your wider business.

In summary - brilliant budget hotel, will definitely use again when in the area.

Thank you so much for such a stellar review, It's absolutely made my morning. We love when people make improvement recommendations as with your input we can only get better and we'll have a look at both your points there. Harry will be really pleased to read this and I will send it over to him as soon as I've finished typing this. He is actually a manager here and when you saw him would most likely have been covering the receptionists break, so don't worry he's very well valued with us and we know what an asset he is, we are biased though so it's great to hear it from guests such as yourself. We are so glad to hear that you'll be back when next in the area and really look forward to welcoming you back, I'll put a pint behind the bar for you, just let us know who you are at check in. Many thanks Samantha Gardiner Venue Manager

The reception area looked lovely and the staff were attentive.

The room however, was dirty upon arrival, it had someone else’s hair in the bath, toothpaste marks on the side, stains in the bedsheets, liquid marks all over the floor. The room only got cleaned once throughout my week stay (upon request) even then the standard of cleaning was awful, rubbish was left on the desk, surfaces hadn’t been wiped, all the cleaning staff did was empty the bins and put the duvet on the bed neatly (the same duvet with stains from the previous guest). You would at a minimum expect for surfaces to be properly wiped from previous guests considering we’ve just been in a pandemic. And for there to be clean sheets.

The aircon which was turned off kept making loud noises throughout the night and the double bed (two single mattresses put together) were very uncomfortable.

Hi Salima, Thank you so much for taking the time to supply us with this feedback, it really is super important. I hadn't been made aware of issues that you had and obviously will address these with urgency, My team would have moved you to a different room as soon as you told them that there was an issue with the one you had been checked into, as you can see from most of our feedback our cleanliness standards are generally very high and the team are proactive and helpful so I am unsure how this wasn't rectified immediately. We would never leave laundry on beds between one guest leaving and another arriving. that doesn't happen so I can only assume that it was a reject sent by our laundry company and missed by one of our team. I would really, really appreciate being able to speak to you about this so that I can fully understand what happened, ensure that we can do something in a way of apology and make sure that any lessons learnt from this are actioned as it's not our normal standard at all. I will check for your contact details with reception and give you a call. Many thanks Samantha Gardiner Venue Manager

We recently used the hotel for a triathlon training camp and I was really impressed by the hospitality of the hotel and how they were able to accommodate our sporting groups needs. The food was excellent, with athletes saying it was the best food they have had on a camp very nutritious and diverse for the groups needs. The staff were very helpful in accommodating anything we needed from bike storage, group conference space and use of the gym. The hotel was continently located a mile from the university swimming pool campus for training and easily accessible to quiet roads for cycling and running. Many thanks for a great stay.

The Hotel is very well situated, just off the M1, just before entering into Loughborough it self. It's a quirte location so not disturbed, breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied with fruits, juices, cerals, and a full cooked if wanted. We would highly recommend this establishment to others, and we will be staying again soon.

Stayed here for one night with my son. Check in was a breeze and done with smile. The room size was good with all expected amenities, (tea/coffee making, hairdryer, laundry service & bathroom was spotless. I've found only a few hotels at 3* have any safe or fridge so wasn't let down by not being present in room - nothing to grumble about at all really. Minor gripe about a lack of plugs by the bed for easier phone charging or USB ports but that is very minor and i realise it is not that easy to put/move plugs by beds based on room infrastructure.
Breakfast was pretty good - good selection for a 3*, was constantly refreshed and topped up while we were there and even when busy the servers cleared tables in seconds! Restful night sleep was facilitated by comfy bed with decent pillows (with extra ones available in the room). The hotel bar was a bit on the pricey side for a pint and J20 but wouldn't stop me staying here. There is also a Harvester <100m away for evening meals (since the hotel restaurant had no one in it and who wants to eat in the quiet)

Had a really warm welcome from reception when checking in and got booked in for dinner. It was a really hot day and I was super glad that there was air con in the room. The room itself was great. Very clean, modern with a fair amount of room. I appreciated that due to a relatively late booking, as a single traveller I could only get a twin room, but the staff joined the beds up without me asking.

I only went for dinner once and to be honest, it wasn't good. I was suffering a bit from heat exhaustion and just wanted a quick sit down meal and then go to bed. There was a new restaurant staff member who was in training, which is fine. I had to wait over 45 minutes for my food to come out and when it did, the chips were undercooked and the burger was way overcooked. I appreciated that they had a vegan burger option, but even after checking with the staff, it did taste like real cheese and potentially a beef burger. I was honestly too tired at the time to say anything about the food, but I'm only knocking the hotel 1 rating down because everything else made up for it. I got back in a bit late sadly on my second night and missed the end of restaurant and room service.

There was an issue with the room, which was quickly rectified. The breakfast was good also, with a good selection of hot and cold food and drink with a buffet service. Great little coffee machine too.

The night's sleep was ok, but the aircon machine did periodically buzz quite loudly, puzzlingly, even after I switched it off! Otherwise, I hear no noise from other guests and the bed was comfy.

All in all, I had an enjoyable stay at the hotel and I will be back.

The Link is in close proximity to the office I was working from and therefore very conveniently located. I was assigned a family room, I felt it was spacious and comfortable and had mostly everything I needed. There are no irons/boards in each room as standard but you are advised at check-in that if you need one it will be supplied.

Each and every member of the team was friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and all delivered with a smile.

The food was good and portion sizes were generous for me. I would suggest perhaps a "special" to add a little variety. Breakfast is self service, lots of choice and good quality.

I will return on my next visit to the area.

For dinner, my choice was the chicken burger, and I couldn't recommend it enough.
Vania, perfectly grilled the chicken breast to a juice point, the bun was fresh and well toasted, and the salad and chips were also fresh and delicious. I asked for a fried egg that is not on the menu and the chef added it for me without problems.
My massive thank you to the brilliant waiter that was cheerful and to the chef Vania.

We do also offer lighter bites from as little as £5.80 for a Bacon Roll. I hope this helps. Kindest regards Shell Haynes Customer Relations
