Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Burleigh Court hotel offers a mixed bag of experiences, with many guests finding the establishment overpriced considering the room standard and service quality. While the atmosphere in renovated parts of the hotel is modern and inviting, some visitors feel the bar area could use more light. The hotel's amenities receive a mix of reviews, with modern dining facilities appreciated but the outdated bathrooms and renovation disruptions detract from the overall experience.
Cleanliness is generally well-regarded, as is the location's convenience near the M1 and within university grounds. Staff are often commended for their friendliness, although there are occasional mentions of slow service. Room opinions are divided, with some praising their functionality and others pointing out the need for updates and better noise insulation.

Detailed Reviews
£60 for a room is excellent: clean, comfortable, quiet, shower pressure could be stronger but a good room for the money if you’re on an overnight business trip.
There is parking, a gym to work out the long drive up, and a bar and restaurant.
Staff are excellent: very friendly and attentive: I asked for some horseradish for my burger and it was promptly brought to my table, bar service was excellent, as was check in.
Now, the downside: the burger, despite the fancy name was very ordinary, delivered so quickly I suspect it started life on the back of a Brakes Brothers van, hence the need for horseradish sauce. Frankly, £15.50 for a burger this ordinary is disappointing, by comparison my wife had a much better burger with crab meat, in central London, for £19 last week.
Beer is £5.50 a pint which, I think, is expensive for this area. The menu is limited and time dictated by breakfast, lunch and dinner, what if you just want a sandwich and a bowl of chips.
Anyway, overall it’s a pretty good hotel and I will return when I’m up there. May venture into Loughborough for food and drink next time.

Good afternoon Pat, We're glad you have an almost perfect stay with us, we do however apologise for the quality of your food on this occasion. We do source all our meat from an excellent local butcher, we have contacted them in this regard to ensure all our products meet the same high standards we would expect for every single meal. We do look forward to you returning to Burleigh Court and hope you'll give us another chance to impress with our food! Kind regards, Customer Relations

I stayed here as I was attending a course at the hotel as well. I checked in late and check in was easy. The lady got a little mixed up as to thinking I had to pay for the room but it was already paid for so knowledge could have been better but she may have been new and it was quickly sorted.
My room was very clean, it had a walk-in shower rather than bath which I liked but the shower pointed down over a soap dish holder sort of thing which was aluminium or some sort of metal which was annoying because it made a really loud noise with the water hitting it and meant the water was splashing me directly in the face almost. Bad design? Tea and coffee facilities were good, a fan for hot nights which was welcomed.
I did have to ask to change rooms as I was woken up at about 2am through the night onwards by a mechanical noise I think I was next to a generator or something? And being a light sleeper I couldn’t sleep through it but the staff were very accommodating and put me in another room for the next night.
My second room had a bath and overhead shower in it rather than a walk-in shower.
The breakfast was really nice and well done in line with covid measures etc. Good value for money.
I used the swimming pool which was good and changing rooms were clean.
There was free parking on site.
I usually stay at the premier inn when I visit the university but this time opted for the burleigh as I wanted convenience. Being honest I did probably sleep better at the premier inn, the bed was a lot more comfortable I think. But the convenience of burleigh and the food is better.
Is that worth an extra approx £40 a night over the premier inn? I’m not so sure.

I’ve stayed here a number of times, and I look forward to my visits. Lodge rooms are very good value but can be a bit noisy in term time due to proximity to student accommodation so I recommend accommodation in the main building which is very good and not much more expensive.
Main appeals for me at Burleigh:
- friendly, professional staff
- reasonable price, good quality rooms
- decent gym for an overnight stay
Downside is the evening meals are pretty expensive with limited choice and I’ve been disappointed on more than one occasion so would suggest exploring a local restaurant.
Overall though, Burleigh and partner hotel Link are my top choices for staying in the Loughborough area.

This was a one night stay whilst dropping our son to uni. It’s a modern conference type of hotel with clean modern rooms. We went out for dinner and on our return and opened our door our room had a terrible sewage smell possibly caused by the recent rain. Hotel moved us without question to another room but as this was now about 9.30pm it was rather inconvenient after a long day. The room was about as far away from reception you could get and I’m sad to say the bed and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. We also realised later that there was only one towel in the room but at this stage could not be bothered to address until morning, where a member of staff came very quickly. Cannot comment on breakfast as we didn’t have any. I would like to say that the reception staff were very friendly and helpful and responded to our requests immediately, none of the issues were their fault at all. I would stay there again as it’s very convenient for the university but the hotel needs to address the problems mentioned.

I booked a romantic weekend getaway for me and my partner. In booking the hotel we was told we would have access to the pool, hot tub, spa and treatments however in arrival we was told that we could not do any of these! If I was told this before booking I would not have been to this hotel and would have found another hotel in which we could have had access to all of the amenities that we were told we would have access too. The hotel was noisy and we were constantly interrupted by slamming doors and staff walking around the corridors noisily. The food in the hotel was extremely expensive with the cheapest dessert costing £7! The room came with drink making facilities however only came with 1 paper cup and 1 sachet of sugar despite it being a superior DOUBLE room. The room itself however was fairly modern and kept to a clean standard and the bathroom was very nice. Not a good experience and would strongly not recommend this hotel

Good Afternoon, Thank You for staying with us at Burleigh Court Hotel. I am very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your overall visit with us. We have had to put new risks assessments in place and new procedures to keep our guests and staff safe during these difficult times. Following government guidelines we are needing to put light restrictions on our departments including our leisure facilities booking in times . We are updating as much information on our website as situations, rules change and i am very sorry that you where not fully aware when originally booking. We do hope you will be able to visit us again in the near future Kind regards Mike Venue Manager

This hotel is a god-send if you need to be anywhere near Loughborough University.
A great location, I was asked to pay for the two rooms booked on arrival. Not sure if that's the norm but went with it. Had one smaller than expected twin room and one adjoining accessible room, which was much roomier. The old system of using your door key to get the electrics on exists. Yet there is no second room key offered, so that you don't have to take the electricity key out when in and out. I had to ask, as it would have meant leaving one of my relatives without heat and light.
One luggage trolley is available and possibly in demand if you have more than the normal amount of luggage, which we did.
The bathroom towel heaters did not work, although the switch was on. The main light in the hallway of the accessible room did not work. Who checks the rooms before they are occupied? Burleigh Court needs to take a lead from Premier in, where rates aren't much different, but where a Hypnos bed ensures a great nights sleep!
The beds felt cheap, uncomfortable and synthetic, especially the pillows.
The doors to the rooms were obviously fire doors, but this meant they slammed if you didn't prevent them from dong so. At a 2am slammed door woke us up and at 6am the same happened as conference customers left their rooms.
Avoided the £14 per head English breakfast. Got the same down the road in a bun for less than a fiver. The long walk to the restaurant meant you'd be hungry again anyway! Not an inclusive option for those with accessible needs e.g the elderly and disabled.
What we loved:
The location
The fact you could open the windows! - what a luxury, to ensure you had fresh air.
The size of the accessible room and the fact it had an adjoining door to the twin.
The small fridge in each room meant we could buy bottled water
The free drinks tokens meant a great welcome if you drank alcohol.
Would definitely stay there again, even with the sound from the American football team in the nearby sports field.

For the money, we found this hotel
Good value. It was clean and the basic
Accomodation had everything we needed
For a one night stay. We had a drink in bar on arrival and breakfast the next day but would not choose to hang around either location as huge, airport style rooms with very bright overhead lighting. I think if improvements could be made
To these areas to make the environment feel less conference and more hotel, it would improve the experience.

Stayed for one night on a 2 day works course. Reception staff unfriendly, bordering on rude, and unhelpful at every interaction from checking in to checking out. Asked the way to my course and just waved off in the general direction, was luckily asked and directed by a more friendly member of staff when they found me looking lost. Made up for by fantasticly friendly, polite and helpful waiter staff in the restaurant/bar, and more friendly and helpful gym reception staff. The food is what made this place stand out for me. It was top quality and everything and anything you could possibly want at breakfast and lunch! The set 3 course evening meal was a little disappointing by comparison but still decent. Delicious selection of pastries, cakes, biscuits and fruit at coffee/drinks break times. Drinks selection also very good. Hotels IT assistants for course were lovely and very helpful. Mixed with 2/3 other courses on some of breaks and course registration- not exclusive., and could get quite busy. No hot water in my bathroom sink tap, but hot and good pressure in shower. In stark contrast to the boiling hot tap water in the ladies loos used for our course! Toilet in room wasn’t great at flushing. Only a small bar of soap and some shampoo/conditioner in the room. No shower gel or hand wash. Gym receptionist kindly got me an extra bar of soap to wash with after using the treadmill, said there should’ve been a shower gel wall mounted in shower but there wasn’t in mine. Noisy pipes clanking all night as well as usual general hotel noise at all hours, including being able to hear a neighbouring guest pee! Springs in mattress uncomfortable but worst came the next morning when I discovered mould on the second (under) pillow that I had slept on! Drinks tray with kettle, packet drinks and biscuits in room, along with hairdryer (tho not powerful and the type you need to keep finger pressing button in at all times to keep on) iron and ironing board in room (not used) laundry service offered (not used). To summarise - food and restaurant/bar staff, amazing! Reception staff and attention to detail in the bedrooms needs improvement.

Fantastic stay at this hotel, as a wheelchair user I am always worried when I arrive at a hotel as I never know if they have received my access details. With this hotel I had no need to worry, this was THE best accessible room I have ever stayed in, the door is automatic so you can get in and out easier, everything is at normal height and wheelchair height including the wardrobe and door peephole. The staff were amazingly attentive even when they were busy and no problem was to big or small. We had the pleasure of using the pool which was lovely and has a steam room and sauna. The food provided for breakfast and dinner was top quality and generous with an excellent vegetarian section. The only issue we did have was that housekeeping missed us out when cleaning the day we asked for it however the ladies on reception sorted us out with tea, coffee, clean towels and toilet roll which was all we needed so not an issue. We are looking at booking again soon for next year.

Sadly no, only cheap fans. Some ground floor rooms have windows that only open a few centimetres too. So avoid them. If you like a cool room avoid this place in the heatwave. PremierInn for all their limitations do normally have good air con. But the one near here has no free parking.
Sorry for late reply but i have been away for a few days, in answer to your question, yes there is free wi-fi at Burleigh court.
