Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best B&B possible! Once again, Morag looked after us brilliantly. The accommodation is the most comfortable it could be, it is incredibly peaceful in a beautiful location, and the food cooked by Morag both for supper and breakfast is so very tasty. Thank you Morag, as we say every time: we'll be back! X

We had an incredible time at the Hightae Inn! Would 100/10 recommend for anyone traveling through Lockerbie! We went for a business trip from the U.S. and stayed five days. The rooms were the cutest and super comfortable, the food was INCREDIBLE every night and Morag the host was the GREATEST, super kind and the most hospitable person we’ve ever met. I will definitely make a trip back just to stay again and enjoy for a holiday. Lots of beautiful scenery and animals nearby. If you love dogs, must meet Tom. 😍

Stopped over for one night enroute from Cheshire to Argyll. Our room was spotless and well appointed. Superb evening meal prepared by our host Morag, using fresh and home grown ingredients. Quality selection of spirits at the bar. Nice, comfy lounge to relax in. Lovely, homely place to stay for the discerning traveller. Very convenient for the M74 route. Will definitely be back!

What a find! Our one night stopover en route south from Skye was an absolute delight. A quiet, comfortable room; great home cooking for dinner; and a wholesome breakfast to set us on our way. Hightae Inn is close enough to the motorway to be convenient but feels like a different world away from the noise and traffic. While most guests are probably just ‘passing through’ we felt the Inn and its surrounding area could easily merit a longer stay. Morag (ably assisted by her charming niece) was the perfect host. All those 5 star reviews are most definitely justified!

Room Tip: Our satnav took us a very obscure route from the A74(M) so best check on a ‘real’ map if possible.

We just stayed the one night, on our way north. Ten minutes off the motorway, this is a perfect stopover. We arrived early evening and had to be off first thing after breakfast. We didn’t have time to explore round about - maybe next time. Morag is a fantastic host. Our room was pleasant, clean and quiet. We had dinner which was lovely. And a whisky to finish sitting in front of the fire was a perfect start to our holiday in Scotland. Great breakfast, especially the fruit and yoghurt. Highly recommended. I'm not sure when we’ll be heading up that way again. But when we do, we will endeavour to make this our stepping place.

I stayed here as a solo traveller on my way to catch the ferry home. I was given a warm welcome by Morag, the food was freshly cooked as imaginative - I’m vegetarian and I really appreciated the efforts Morag went through to make a tasty meal for me. The public spaces are warm and inviting and there was a lovely wood burning stove which I enjoyed relaxing in fron of whilst reading a book. My room was spacious and relaxing and the bed comfortable. I love the decor! Off road parking too. I can’t fault this place

Morag looked after us extremely well from the very friendly initial welcome right through to our relaxed departure. Our room was quiet and comfortable and Morag cooked us an excellent dinner as well as providing a splendid breakfast. Thoroughly recommended for anyone wanting to visit a delightful part of Scotland or just needing to stop off for a night or two on the way to other areas.

We stayed here for one night, on our way to Scotland. A really lovely welcome from Morag ! The Hightae inn is in a lovely quiet village We had a really great clean room, with a very comfy bed. We had a lovely evening meal which Morag offers, great value for three course and we also had a bottle of wine! We enjoyed a glass of wine by the log burner before our meal. Can’t recommend the Hightae enough, we will be back to explore the area a bit more! Great stop off in a lovely setting !
