Friendly and professional hotel that caters to all. During the week we have a regular business trade that takes advantage of all the mod cons, including full wi-fi coverage, in stylish and relaxing surroundings. We are excellently located for all local companies and just over an hours journey to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Weekends are busy with local food trade and also with small functions and weddings.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My walking group had dinner at Somerton House Hotel. 49 of us arrived for our pre booked two course meal with tea/coffee. We had ordered in advance having been given a choice of main course and dessert. Food was tasty, was of a high standard and it was hot!! I highly recommend Somerton House Hotel restaurant

Booked for a short week break by my husband. We travelled by car and the hotel was easy to find, straight off the motorway, but surprisingly quiet despite it's nearness and plenty of parking. Very clean and comfortable with lovely complimentary toiletries, bottled drinking water (replenished each day along with tea/coffee facilities). Hairdryer in room attached to wall and is one of the best yet simplest I have used in a hotel. Hosts and staff very hospitable and restaurant menu sufficiently varied and food excellent. Breakfast was both continental and cooked and again excellent. Well placed for exploring the area which is beautiful. We visited the Grey Mare's Tail waterfall, the Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum staffed by volunteers and definitely worth a look - especially the cake and beverages in the small cafe!

Unfortunately the toilet didn't flush properly and the shower door wouldn't close, we did inform the staff, who were very apologetic. Room was very clean, food good and staff very friendly. Ideal for our one night stop over.

First time I stayed this year after a few years staying at different hotels around Lockerbie. I wasn't disappointed my family have formed a fantastic relationship with the staff especially Shona who's dry sense of humour and and efficiency keeps us all in good order Good food good drink and a relaxed atmosphere highly recommended .

Our first proper short break with our 15 month old Golden Retriever. After some prior research we picked Somerton House because it was advertised as being dog friendly and had charging points for electric vehicles. It was fantastic ! Very friendly and accommodating staff, especially Alec who went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right. We were in room 9 which was a good size and lovely and clean. Excellent hot shower and bath, and near to the door to the garden, which was ideal to take the doggy outside. We had dinner bed and breakfast for our two night stay. Lovely hot food and all very tasty. The Chicken Stanley is worth a special mention ! Our dog was allowed in the bar area, where we ate all our meals. Perfectly ideal with loads of room for him to sit under the table. Alec even brought him sausages each morning for his breakfast….he loved it ! We’ll certainly be going back and would recommend a visit to anyone.

Wonderful family run hotel, good food, comfortable rooms, great value. We had been driving all day and were tired, arriving later than we expected. They could not have made us more welcome. A well stocked bar, nice choices on the menu, and all followed the next morning with an excellent breakfast.
