I normally stop off in one of the lockerbie hotels to break up my journey north to the highlands from down south, but this time I booked Bishopscleugh B&B based on its very high reviews/rating on booking.com. They did not disapoint! Its a traditional (maybe farm) house perched on a hill overlooking lockerbie and the hills around it. The rooms are modern yet traditionally decorated and very comfortable and very clean. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was first class.
We had been in Scotland for a wedding and the drive was too long so looked at Lockerbie as it was about half way! So pleased we did as we found the Bishopcleugh B&B! A warm welcome from Christine, and shown to our well appointed bedrooms. Lovely decorated rooms, everything provided, and a quality en suite. Breakfast was a delight, lovely home cooked quality ingredients. If you get the chance make a for this B&B!,,
Stayed here one as we cycled from Scotland to Norfolk. Our room was a twin share. Scotland was having a mild heatwave so were disappointed there was no aircondition in the room. A small electric fan about the size of a dinner plate our only source of cooling aside from propping the door open. The staff were friendly and very assisting in locking our bikes away for the night ( in the wedding function room no less ! ) . Handy to have a restaurant and bar on premises as the hotel is about a mile from the centre of town. It would be popular with travellers on the motor way as it is all but 300 yards from the main motorway running south - north.
Delightful farm house with fantastic views. Christine was very welcoming and the breakfast was delicious. The room was clean and very comfortable bed which made all the difference. Would definitely stay again.
Me and my partner weren't able to get back to Manchester from Edinburgh due to train complications so had to stop off in Lockerbie. This was the only property we could find as we were booking the same day, but what a blessing this was. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the lovely landlady Christine who showed us to our room. It had tea and biscuits ready for us, a very nice power shower (which was REALLY needed), and perhaps the comfiest bed I've ever stayed in! In the morning, Christine prepared us a gorgeous Full English Breakfast with a selection of juices and cereals, all with a nice morning view of the countryside. To top it all off, as we had an early train and with Lockerbie being a small, quiet town, we were struggling to get a taxi to the station (Uber is out of the question in these parts), so Christine kindly drove us up there. In summary, if you ever find yourself staying over in Lockerbie, this beautiful farmhouse is a must, thanks again Christine!…
Stayed at this B&B on first night of tour of Scotland. The host, Christine, greeted me on arrival, showed me where to park my motorcycle, and then showed me to my room, which was excellent. Very clean, warm and comfortable. Tea & coffee in room with a great bathroom/shower etc. Breakfast was superb too, plenty of it and cooked to perfection. Definitely was more than I expected and needed for my overnight stay. Also, located well away from anywhere, so very safe here to park your expensive motorcycles, so you can get a good night's sleep without having to worry about them. Brilliant place in my opinion.
Off the beaten track, quiet, peaceful but only a few minutes from the Motorway or the town of Lockerbie. Great place to stop off or stay. Friendly host, very comfortable and great breakfast. Farmhouse setting with lots of wildlife around.
Such a beautiful setting outside of main town. We stopped for one night and wished it had been more. Beautiful en suite room in this stone farmhouse. TV, complimentary tea and coffee, comfy bed Wonderful cooked breakfast, cereal toast fruit tea coffee. Kids welcome. Lovely host made us very welcome and accomodated us at last minute. Perfect.
We stayed for one night on our way up to Scotland. The guest house is a short drive from the motorway, but set in its own extensive grounds and quiet countryside. Rooms were well equipped and decorated, the breakfast was excellent, and our hostess was very welcoming and helpful.
Warm and welcoming. Beautiful house in elevated position amidst rolling farmland. Had a lovely single ensuite room, beautiful and comfortable bed and linen. Great breakfast including fresh fruit. Very pleasant host. Would definitely plan to return if need to stay in the area.
