Set in the heart of Cheshire, Mere Court Hotel was originally built as a wedding present for William and Amy Dunkerley in 1903 and has now been lovingly and skilfully restored as a 4-star deluxe country house hotel, award-winning wedding venue, conference centre and fine dining restaurant with one AA Rosette. Set in 7 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds with a private lake in the most desirable part of the Cheshire countryside it offers ambience and rural tranquillity, despite being only 10 minutes from Manchester Airport and within easy reach of the major motorway networks (M56/M6/M62) giving access to Manchester, Liverpool and the historic City of Chester. The original house has individually designed and furnished luxury bedrooms, including two four poster suites, all with wonderful views across the beautiful grounds. The Lakeside rooms all have king size beds. This hotel has played host to a number of notable and famous guests like former US President Bill Clinton, Ruby Wax, Dawn French, Alan Titchmarsh and Spandau Ballet.

We booked a special offer dinner bed and breakfast stay for one night and very much enjoyed our stay. The bedroom was very spacious with super king sized bed, fridge, complementary water and powerful shower. The restaurant, made up of several small rooms, had a very pleasant ambiance with well spaced tables. Our fish and chips mains were the only let down from our stay - both the fish and chips seemed over cooked and a little soggy. The cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding desserts however more than made up for the below par mains. Breakfast was served buffet style, including the hot food, and met our needs.

After seeing a very reasonable price for their afternoon tea we booked in for a Saturday afternoon without any trouble. Arriving was very easy, you can't get lost on the way there and the car park was clearly marked. The staff are incredibly friendly (from a respectful safe distance) and you can tell how much thought has been put into proper social distancing while making sure that you don't dwell for long on the matter. Service was fast and very well done. We had a seat by a window with a beautiful view out, we both left with a beaming smile and would gladly come back again!

Hubby and I had a TravelZoo deal for the ‘Mere Court Hotel’, we haven’t stayed here before. We arrived later than we anticipated as we got stuck in traffic!
We phoned up in advance to let them know, they were very friendly and helpful.
The deal included an executive suite, a free glass of Prosecco each on arrival, also a three course meal on the first evening, and a full English breakfast each morning ( lots of other choices too). The staff were friendly, the room was excellent, the food was of a high quality too. Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, even bottled water. A jacuzzi bath, shower, complimentary shampoo, conditioner etc etc etc..
The lady at breakfast whose name is ‘Jane’ was really lovely and delivered an amazing service. The quality of the full English breakfast was fantastic! I’m fussy about a top quality sausage, and they certainly delivered! Even the bacon was of excellent quality too! Lots of choice for everyone if they don’t want a full English. I can certainly recommend the porridge also. We enjoyed our two night stay here.

The Duncurins had been given a voucher for afternoon tea and my wife and I booked in for such at Mere Court.
This proved to be an excellent choice, with a nicely featured tea room with lovely curved and glazed bays overlooking the gardens. Staff were friendly and polite and service was efficient.
The cake platter featured some fresh, nicely cut sandwiches in brown and white bread, a selection of macaroons, cake and scones. All were fresh and nicely prepared. The scones in particular came with both raspberry and strawberry jam, cream, were still warm from the oven and were amazing.
We started with pots of tea, my wife ordered a glass of Prosecco and we finished with a large pot of coffee. I went to reception to pay for the extra coffee and the Prosecco. The staff informed me that the coffee was included and was I sure that the Prosecco wasn't on the voucher also? I informed them that I was pretty sure it wasn't.
All in all this is an excellent way to take afternoon tea in lovely surroundings. Many thanks.

We were given a room above the function room with a wedding going on below. Disco went on to midnight. We had no warning. We called reception at 11 to complain and the music was turned down a little for a short time but not enough to sleep. On being asked at checkout how our stay was we complained about the noise we were given an apology however that does not help. We could have been given a warning and ear plugs on arrival or even warned before we arrived. We could have been given a different room. There were 3 of us in a family room and were told all the family rooms were in the same location however we could have been allocated 2 twin rooms. At the very least they could have acknowledged the poor sleep by discounting the price of the room.

The hotel is lovely and situated in a nice area. The staff however let this place down. With the exception of a couple they were scruffy,
miserable, unwelcoming and disinterested. There was a wedding on when we arrived so I appreciate they were busy. This however is no
excuse for the lack of respect for the other paying guests. There was no hello welcome to the Mere Court or even a good afternoon! Just a hi have you booked a room, paper work filled out, keys given and off we were sent.
The room was OK but nothing special.
After settling in we went down to the bar for a drink and sat down. As there was no one else there I asked a member of staff if they had sky sports to watch the footy. I was told yes but weve lost the remote! After 30 mins and 3 staff members trying to find the channel we were told we must not have sky so this is the best we can do!! I was was then left to watch some American soccer channel 🤦‍♂️
The evening meal however was lovely and couldn't really fault the gentleman waiting on us even tho we were left waiting some time between courses. This was due to him trying to look after a few customers on his own.
After our meal we went in to the bar area for a drink. Here we found that many of the wedding party had congregated for drinks even tho they had the wedding hall, bar and outside area to go.
This left me and my wife or other non-wedding guest to sit, stand or get to the bar. Without booking a taxi to go into town, £20 there £20 back. We we left with no option but to retire to our room.
Now we come to breakfast!! Well what can I say 🤔 not alot really. It was crap. We were directed to a table. Asked if we wanted tea or coffee and that was that. No good morning. No explanation of what food was out or what other drinks where also available..
Maybe it was me expecting a little too much at £170 a room but I was expecting a breakfast menu and it cooked fresh.
Not a help yourself B&B overcooked, warmed up below average English breakfast.
Even now no member of staff came to see if everything was OK or if we needed anything.
The 2 staff members working had absolutely no interest in any guest having breakfast and when we'd finished we just got a " you finished" as they took out plates. The only polite person that morning was the young lad vacuuming the corridor as we waited for someone to seat us.
Such a shame as the seeing of the hotel is really nice.
It takes nothing for staff to be smart, polite and friendly

Stayed at this hotel last night 01-08 on a Secret Escapes offer. What a beautiful hotel with extremely polite, well mannered staff, nothing was to much trouble and they were very helpful in every way. The grounds are lovely, ate our evening meal watching the rabbits and squirrels in the garden. The 3 course evening meal was delicious as was the breakfast this morning. I am in a wheelchair and the hotel was very suited to my needs, ramp access to get into the building, large disabled toilet in the bar area and ramp access to the breakfast room. We felt very safe in the hotel with the new Covid rules and regulations, everything was in place and signs, hand sanitizer gel etc around the hotel. You will not be disappointed with a stay at the hotel and we will be returning

Having seen the great deals Mere Court Hotel is currently offering, I decided to take my family for Afternoon Tea and would like to share our experience.

We arrived and were warmly greated by Mark the General Manager. Mark gave us the option to sit indoors or outside and due to the warm weather we took him up on the offer to have our Afternoon Tea in the sun. We sat outside in what we can only describe as the most peaceful garden which was beautifully kept. Mark allowed us to relax and asked us when we would be ready to have our tea, checking if we had any allergies or requirements.

The Afternoon Tea was presented to an amazing standard. Mark explained all the sandwich fillings and the cakes to us and kept us topped up with tea and coffee all afternoon.

I think it is also important to mention how the hotel has adapted to our current situation. The hotel was spotlessly clean, with sanitiser situated around the hotel and extra wipes and sanitiser in the toilets. When serving the food, Mark wore a mask so it made the whole situation feel completely safe.

We are due to get married at Mere Court and I can genuinely say we would have no doubts on recommending this hotel. The staff can't do enough for you, with nothing being to much trouble. The grounds and the hotel speak for itself and every time we go, we come away feeling so relaxed. If you are looking for somewhere to go to treat yourself, book this hotel. You will not be disappointed 🥰

We ( 4 people) stayed for 1 night to attend a local festival.
As the hotel itself was full we booked The Lodge which is located just inside the main gate and directly off a fairly busy road (including a number of passing motorbikes)

Everything was faultless, service was friendly and efficient and breakfast the next morning was good.

The only reason for the 4/5 review was the road noise which woke me several times during the night. If you are a light sleeper I would recommend a stay in the main hotel rather than The Lodge.

I would definitely stay here again....just in the main building.

We recently stayed in the Mere Court Hotel for our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. Our stay was very enjoyable.
The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The staff were very professional and obliging, happy to help, and nothing was too much trouble. We have family who work in hospitality and know only too well how hard staff work.
The young men (bar staff) did an amazing job, worked very hard, and we appreciated the cleaning regularly of the tables and good use of sanitisers, during this difficult time.
Our only criticism would be the restaurant food choice, we thought was A’La Carte but it didn’t appear to be, seeming to lack choices. Although the food we had was enjoyable.
Overall our stay was very enjoyable and would happily recommend this hotel 😊

I agree with the person above and their answer. Mere Court is not far away but the Airport is often busy, with traffic and various light, it would take 15-20 minutes, from getting in your car to the front door of the Hotel
