Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rented the self catering a few years ago and it was really great! The place was very spacious, very spacious! And great loch view! It's isolated and surrounded by trees, which is quite uncommon on Orkney. Located just outside Kirkwall it's excellent to enjoy the city and to return the peace & quiet of the property

We (My partner; me and 2 small dogs) rented the 2 bedroom self catering apartment at very short notice, situated on the outskirts of Kirkwall, inits own small wood, the 1st floor 2 bed apartment had excellent facilities, cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine, draft free with good heating. Views from the balcony off the bay and surrounding country side are stunning. car required to access kirkwall and rest of island but only 5 min car journey to nearest super market and center of kirkwall.
A little gem found and will be used again on next visit.

We stayed in the self catering apartment. This was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. The apartment is surrounded by forest, and there is a view of the bay from the lounge room window. Our host was very welcoming and friendly.

Nancy is a wonderful host, the home is an old Victorian and very nicely kept. Clean, beautiful and in a lovely location. The breakfast was wonderful! Would definitely stay here again. Good location for all sight-seeing, quiet and relaxing.

Stayed in Seaview 2 , beautifully clean, warm, with an outstanding view, terrific owners always ready to help. Everything worked wonderfully even during the October hurricane ,!! Location is brilliant about half an hour's walk to the centre of Kirkwall and a few mins by car, price extremely competitive ,a real gem, would happily stay again

Berstane house is on the outskirts of Kirwall set on high ground overlooking bay. When we stayed we had almost a small 1 bedroom apartment with a stocked kitchen. I cannot confirm if all rooms are like this but ask if front room with own seperate access is available.

This place is perfect if you have a car but phone ahead for directions.

You'll pay more for far less elsewhere. They have a website so check it out

I stayed at the self catered Seaview 2 apartment for four nights and had a great time. It was exactly what we needed, with Nancy very welcoming and helpful. The views out in the garden are amazing and you will struggle to match this near to Kirkwall.

It is a 5 minute drive or 25 minute walk to get to the city centre so a car is recommended if you stay here. You'll need one to see the sights of Orkney anyway.

I hope to return to Orkney and will look to stay here again.

Thanks again Nancy.

David & Gillian

Set quietly on the coast five minutes by car out of Kirkwall, with beautiful sea views. Very comfortable and well equipped and spacious. Good value and flexible booking: we stayed one night, went off to islands for four nights and returned for further three nights.
