Having dined at the Foveran on several occasions over the years previously and enjoyed the excellent cuisine, I had the opportunity recently to stay there for 4 days. This visit confirmed and reinforced my opinion that Paul Doull and his staff provide really first-class hospitality. The dining experience - cooking, service, ambience - is unbeatable and excellent value for money. My bedroom was spotless, simply furnished but very comfortable, with a light and airy en-suite. Breakfast offers all you could possibly wish for and if hot is your preference, everything is freshly cooked to order. All this, plus a peaceful location with beautiful views over Scapa Flow. Easy travelling to all of Mainland and, if travelling to the outer islands, within 10 minutes of Kirkwall airport and ferries, and 10 minutes to Stromness. Altogether perfect!

4 night break away Had a wonderful 4 night stay last week at The Foveran for a short break on Orkney Arrived on our motorcycle to warm reception from receptionist and later from the owner who kindly arranged some snacks as we were too late for dinner . Room was pleasantly roomy, warm and comfortably funrnished with walk-in shower and also had a sofa to watch TV. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices and also fabulous home made breads, Dinners were fantastic with fresh seafood (and other choices!)and inventive desserts that were delicious Staff couldnt be more helpful or friendly and I woudnt hesitate to reccomend this establishmnet if you are a foodie, like a dining room with a view and appreciate the effort of the owners ,waiting staff and the chefs to make your stay a good one . This might be our only break away due to covid this year and it certainly was a memorable one with special thanks to Paul and Roddy

Foveran had just undergone a renovation and installation of a new kitchen and had hurriedly re-opened to accommodate us after a lengthy closure. Despite this , everything was perfect- truly fantastic food ,sparkling clean and tasteful premises. Am looking forward to returning.

An average meal let down by a rude, offensive manager who was determined to provoke a disturbance. Clearly the reasonable request to pay the bill without our overseas guests being invovled, since it was their birthday meal, was something the manager could not cope with. Our guests had requested to pay the bill, but for reasons stated that is not something that any reasonable person would accept. Ruined what could have been a good evening.

I was treated to a meal here at The Fovern by my daughter....what a lovely surprise! From the moment we arrived the girls were very welcoming and made you feel at home. We had drinks by the log fire which was lovely and cosy as it was such a wintery night. We were then taken to our table when our food was ready and what can i say.....absolutely delicious. We really did not need the sweet as we were full up......but we had already noticed the lemon curd and raspberry eton mess on the menu and we just couldn't resist...YUMMY!!! Go on treat yourselves.....you won't be disappointed :)
